  1. I used to wear those chunky heels (wedge shoes) and as I got heavier' date=' I think my ankles got weaker. I can't begin to tell you how many parking lots I face planted in before decided I needed to give them up. The worst two, was at a high school parking lot picking my kids up after a track meet and face planting in the parking lot. My kids were so used to it that as I laid face down they were laughing and so was I. To make matters worse the fall and laughing made me tinkle a little. It was humiliating and a woman walked by and scolded my kids for laughing and not helping me up. We told her it happens all the time. So up I got. I also did this in a Bob Evans parking lot after a meal on New Years Day. I fell and had to go back in the restaurant all scraped up and bleeding. The staff was like "what happened"... A coworker (who is heavy as well) was wearing the same type of shoes in our dept and her ankle gave way just standing at the printer and she fell in the middle of our cubes and was so embarrassed. Oh, the joy of being overweight. We won't even talk about the turnstyles I had to squeeze through sideways and pray I wouldn't get stuck... I can laugh at all this now.

So you are sooo not alone.[/quote']

Omg. I think I just tinkled a little. Lol

  2. I have broken at least 4 or 5! Lol Now we get the seats with metal hinges.

Once at my in laws house I sat in a chair that I was too small for at the kitchen table and of course broke the arms off of it. This was about 3 months after my father in law talked about how the kitchen table and chairs were antiques Lol. This was also the chair that he always sat in!

Once in high school I sat in a chair and the back legs slowly collapsed and I fell in front of the whole class! Lol even the teacher was trying not to laugh! Lol

Omg. I'm sorry but this is too funny

  3. My doctor said with this surgery he could give me up to 6 weeks off n I took it. My job is very demanding and I play a very critical role. My manager wouldn't approve the time off before the holidays but was okay with me going in Jan. I had my surgery on Jan 2nd. It is medically excused. I was able to take the first week off with paid sick leave n the next 5 weeks I will get paid disability plus sick leave. I had to get it approved by my manager first n had to fax my approval to HR. I have been very open with my surgery so my manager knows what's going on but HR doesn't need to know ur having WLS they just needed my doctors note which stated "recovery from surgery" hope this helps.

  4. In my opinion the losing stage is just like any other diet you have been on... With several exceptions. The band is there to help you from over eating at mealtime and because small portions keep you full for longer period of times you are less likely to get frustrated and cheat.

It's simple math... If you burn more calories than you take in you will lose weight. Sounds simple enough but you have to pay attention to the calories because 1 cup of chocolate cake is way worse than a cup of Beans....

As you get to your goal you can relax a bit because you know how much you should be eating and counting calories is second nature. But even during maintenance you have to ay attention to your calories... Unfortunately the band didnt magically change our ability to gain weight.

    Then diet it is!

  5. I am 2 years out' date=' reached my goal last summer and still weigh, measure and log everything I eat. I have accepted that I will have to do this forever if I want to keep the weight off. There's no going back for this girl! In fact, I see the 120's on the horizon! That's something I never expected, my goal was 160 and then changed it to 140.[/quote']

Wow great job! My goal is 125 n can't imagine it either. I haven't been that weight since high school. Congratulations on your accomplishment!

  6. Because you are. In order to lose weight you have to consume fewer calories than what you burn. It will be a bit different when you are just trying to maintain your weight' date=' but until then it is a diet. This is actually how most normal weight people eat. They don't eat until they are stuffed at every meal or eat high calorie foods day in and day out. That's why it is absolutely necessary to learn how much is enough, to listen to your body and the signals it gives you, how to say no, and realize that you don't have to eat until you can't hold anymore just because it tastes good. I keep telling myself that food is fuel for my body and not just to give me pleasure. It's like a car - if the price of gasoline drops, I don't go and fill my car up for the sake of getting a good deal and letting the tank overflow, I only go if my car needs gas.[/quote']

That's I like that. food for fuel.

  7. I have to track what I eat, I have to limit myself to 1 cup of food, I have to work out like crazy, I have to measure n weigh my food. Will I ever b able to stop eating because I can't eat any more or will I always feel like I could have eaten another cup of food? I feel satisfied with what I'm eating n can last a long time without eating again. So what's the problem? Why do I feel like I'm still dieting?

  8. Oh hunny I'm there too right now n was banded on Jan 2nd. I've been at 219-220 for 3 weeks now n have totally upped my exsersize. It's verry frustrating but I'm wondering if it has to do with loosing weight so fast at first. Idk if that's the case but my cloths does feel looser. We'll get there as long as we keep moving in the right direction, exsersizeing n eating the right foods.

  9. Me n my hubby have sex about 2-3 Times a week but it's been like this even before surgery. Maybe it has to do with age. I really got a sex drive at about 30 n am now 37. But before that I don't remember wanting it as much. Either way when he wants it n I don't I still let him have the goods so he's not deprived...he's 41 now.

  10. Well I do A LOT of exercise. I started out doing Water based exercise (lap swimming and Water aerobics) and once I had lost enough going on walks. Please note when I started I was getting injections to my right knee because I had pain so bad I could barely do my grocery shopping. Today I did a 6.5 mile walk at 3 miles and hour. To me that is the ultimate NSV. I'm doing 1-2+ hours cardio 7 days a week.

    This is wonderful to hear!

  11. I think the Wii games with your child.... great idea for work out. I'm sure he/ she would love to take a walk, play tennis, handball, ride bikes, window shopping with you. Wake up 20 min early n do a work out video, or walk on your lunch. I don't know how you do it. I Work full time, n go to school, n have a family of 6 n that alone can b stressful at times. Good luck. I'm sure your hard work will pay off. Just have fun

  12. I'm in the same boat right now n very frustrated but I think I'm loosing inches. My cloths feels n looks loser. I'm going to start measuring. I worked out 2 hours a day this week 5 days n still didn't loose. Ugh ya very frustrating.

  13. For me what helps is eating Protein at all meals which is suggested by I believe all doctors. Usually about 20-30 grams of protein per meal. My doc suggest I eat at least 1200 calories per meal but I've noticed a lot of bandsters eat 800-1000. My nutritionist said not to go under 1000 per meal. I've been tracking on my fitness pal.

  14. Learning how to eat again!

This is difficult! Take smaller bites' date=' wait, chew.... And no drinking while eating!

    Lots to learn!![/quote']

Ugh. So true. Still learning here too. Hey it's a 37 year habit for me that I have to break so yes, it's gonna take time. I've been using baby spoons n cocktail forks to eat n really helps. My bites aren't as small as they probably should be but they are not a table spoon big either.

  15. I too have a strange pain in my left side and I do NOT think is gas. the only way I know to describe it is a "stitch" our cramp in my side like you sometimes get when you eat right before exercising? not too worried about it though.' date=', will ask my surgeon when I see him Monday.[/quote']

That's the exact feeling I get. I haven't asked what it Is but it only happens once in a while. I'm 4 n 1/2 weeks post op n still get the pain once in a while. I don't think it's gas pain either but it feels like when you exsersize n don't breath right. Let me know if find out what it is.
