  1. I haven't been told yet although back in the day when I would diet it all had to do with my height weight n gender. The paper work I got from my hospital says

800-100 calories daily initially (I've been eating bout 1200 but am also working out)

80-100 grams of Protein (I usually have 60)

0-8 grams of carbs per meal

0-8 grams of fat per meal

    Max 1000 grams of sodium

    64-80 oz Water

Vitamins ( as suggested by your doctor)

I am not telling you to follow my plan n can't imagine a man eating as little as this but this is what the hospital gave me. I just started having solids one week ago n my weight has stayed the same since so I have totally upped my exsersize hoping this will help. I am going to make an appointment with my nutritionist to see if this is good for my height n weight. My fitness pal tells me I'm eating too little n that I should eat all my calories including the ones I worked off but it also doesn't know I have the band. I also want to ask my nut about our bodies going into starvation mode n how that works. I don't follow these rules I posted to a T but I just wanted to share this info with you.

  2. Okay I get it. So right now I should b practicing so when I get to the point when I'm tight, then I won't forget not to chug due to not getting in that habit. Ugh I don't ever want to get so tight that I can't even chug on Water. I got my first fill yesterday; 4 c 's n can still chug water. Thanks for the help. I can see how chugging water could affect me.

  3. Quick question' date=' how soon after being banded did you have your post-op appointment and fill? I was banded yesterday (january 28th) and my doctor wants to see me back for a fill in two weeks.[/quote']

I saw my doc just yesterday for my first fill n I was banded on the 2nd of January. He saw me a week after surgery just to see I I was doing.

  4. I agree... I feel like I could eat more now too. I am about 4 weeks away from my first fill. I was banded on the 16th. I knew the food was "stuck" right away. I would describe it as extremely uncomfortable but not pain. It happened exactly because I wasn't paying attention and ate too big a bite too fast. It kinda helped that it happened because now I am über aware of my chewing and swallowing. Did you get your fill? Does it feel like a normal shot or worse?

Just got my fist fill yesterday n started a thread under fills called scared to eat cause the doc told me to go back on my regular diet n not to do a liquid diet. It felt less than a regular shot. I think, no I didn't look, but I think the needle must be thin cause it was just a small poke. I was scared n asked if he numbed the area. He said no. He actually had to poke me three times. The first initial one, he asked me to sit up n drink Water n it felt no different. He said he was gonna add more (he had already added 4cc's so I was a little nervous about that) so he poked me again n took out all the saline. The third time he added 4 ccs again n asked me to chug the Water. I felt the same again but I told him I was fine with that. I don't wanna be so tight anyway. He said okay he would see me in 4 weeks again n get another fill then.

  5. Thank u all for the responses. So I had school last night as soon as I posted this n ended up drinking a 5oz Protein Shake before I left with 1/2 a scoop of Protein. I had no problem drinking it but one n one half hours later I was hungry. I took a banana with me n a Fiber bar so I ate the banana n had no problem. I didn't eat the fiber bar. Once I came home I tried to eat a chicken taco n suddenly felt really tight in my chest but I think I ate too fast n too much. I was so scared to have a stuck episode n not b able to get out of it but felt fine after about a minute. I stopped on the taco n ate 3/4 a cup of mashed potatoes n that went down fine. What a learning experience this has been. Maybe I'll just do mushies after a fill.

  6. So I just came back from my 1st fill. I got 4cc's and I have read that a 4cc fill is pretty aggressive but I'm okay with that. I asked my doctor about the liquid diet following the fill n he said "I don't do that, go straight to your regular diet" I am scared because I see almost every patient here says their doc recommends the liquid diet. Anyone been told not to do it n has anyone had regular food after a fill? Thanks greatly appreciate all your responses.

  7. Me too...yesterday. It helped to know what it was and know that it would go away. I was kind of glad' date=' though because I seemed to be handling all the food so well I was starting to wonder if the band is going to work for me.[/quote']

Sherry n Miller. How long have y'all been banded. Just curious. I haven't been stuck but I'm feeling like do I really have something In me. I see my doc today for my 1st fill. Also how tight is your band? Just curious, I don't even know how many cc 's My band is. But I know I can eat a lot more than what I have. Not hungry but definitely could fit more. I've just been going with the Portion Control.< /p>

  8. I am in need of motivation and encouragement too. I was banded almost one year and half. I have recently gained 14 lbs over the last 6 mths. This is after my 3rd fill? I realize my habits have changed and I realize I need to focus on my diet and exercise.

I started to read the success stories n man did that motivate me. I've been exercising ever since.

  9. I was banded in January 4th so I'm in my 4th week post op but reading these stories keep me motivated. After reading some of these today I went n walked 3 1/2 miles. I haven't been working out yet except fir walking around at the flea market or malls. Today was my day to start.

  10. Reading these inspiring stories of all my banded friends is so inspiring. Listening to tips y'all give, seeing all y'all pictures, n reading your stories inspires me every day. Something I never thought I could b I see in all of you n want to say thank you to all of you for sharing your success stories n your time to post. Congratulations to all your successes!!!

  11. After getting out of the shower today' date=' I noticed a normal bath towel fits all the way around me now! Not a beach towel, but a normal size bath towel! It covers all of me, that if need be, I could walk out of the bathroom with no worries! I am unsure of how long it has been in my life since one fit around me! Wow, it's the little things that make this journey so encouraging!!

Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk[/quote']

Congrats. Can't wait till I get there. How much have you lost??? Either way a towel fitting all the way around is a great accomplishment

  12. I was scolded by other peeps about this already for taking some small bites of things I should have not. B careful ask your doc or nutritionist bout a post op diet. I had to do 1 week of liquid, 1 week of blended n 1 week of soft, all post op oh ya n pre op was 2 weeks of liquid. I started my week 4 post op on Wed. And was just approved for reg food.< /p>

  13. I was wondering were everyone got there ports at' date=' I thought it wad going to be to the left, but mine is about 2 inches above my belly button, and I keep hitting it ouch[/quote']

I have a small incision above my belly button but my port is on my right side between my belly button n my boobs. I don't think it will get in the way. Been fine so far @ 3 weeks post op

  14. Yay I'm on the other side!!! Had surgery yesterday morning... The first night was alright with the pain meds... i woke up like 3-4 times but had some good zzzzz once i fell asleep again... the only thing really bothering me is this gas pain uggghh but heat is awesome to eliviate some pain and the port incision is what really bothers me... how do ya'll take your medications? ive crushed them and mixed with Water and then with a bit of gatorade but ewwwwww its so gross.. any other options ??
