  1. I guess it depends on the doctor....I don't know why Pasta specificaly would stretch your band....??

I guess your right. Follow your doctor's orders. My doc said never have rice, potatoes, tortillas, or bread. He said, I'm sorry, correction, all these items can stretch your stomach. These items expand in Water. My nutritionist said us that's what the doc says but she says once in a while is okay, as a treat. I've also read if your gonna have rice to only have 2 tablespoons at a time. What a joke right!!! Lol. But ya follow your docs orders.

  2. I was required to do a 6 month supervised diet. I had done weight watchers in the past n that worked for my insurance even tho I had gained the weight back. They just wanted proof that j had already tried to loose the weight on my own. Approval came till the end for me n Two weeks before surgery I was put on a two week liquid diet in which I lost 14 lbs.

  3. Cottage cheese' date=' or any regular meal in the blender (very well blended) with some broth to thin it...I think Pasta is considered "soft" as long as its in very small pieces..if i remember correctly.[/quote']

I was told to never have Pasta as it could stretch your band. Applesauce is also good or cream of wheat.

  4. Hello everyone best of luck! I was banded January 2' date=' 3013 and so far so good! Just learning how to eat again at this point. mild pain but able to get up move shop and eat so Im happy as of yet[/quote']

Hiya donyeil. I was banded on the 2nd also!!! How have you been doing so far. I have been very nauseated and most definitely a new way of eating. I finally felt a little better today. Can't wait to eat some real food tho.

  5. When it comes to food I'm not fussy I will eat whatever. The reason I had the band done is because I simply ate too much even though it's not take away or bbq meals. I never really had a problem with junk food only had it on occasion. drinks on the other hand are my weakness (not alcohol)

I love my soft drinks and energy drinks. Is it possible to lose weight while still having drinks? I can cut to the sugar free range but I must have drinks. Of course I still do drink Water but I can't do without my drinks. I asked the doctor and he says diet soda is ok but just gotta watch out as it's still calories. Can't be too much calories though right?

I'm in the same boat as you. I thought the lap band would b a great tool for myself because I'm not the gal whose addicted to sweets n such. My doctor and everything I have read says absolutely no carbonation including no diet soda, no carbonated Water, no beer, no champagne, no nothing with any carbonation. I believe some of those energy drinks have carbonation also so they would also b no no's. I gave up soda a couple of years ago n am 6 days post-op n have now gave up carbonation. There are lots of great tasting drinks that are sugar free. Some of my favorites are sugar free punch or sugar free tea with lemon n splenda. Hope this helps.

  6. I had my surgery on January 2nd and I'm not sure how the fills work. I think some people get fills as soon as they have surgery and others not for a couple of weeks. I have to see my doc on Tuesday (not even a week since I had surgery.) Since surgery I haven't felt too hungry, in fact I've been almost disgusted with eating. I've also been nauseous. Please give me some inputs on theses fills and might I have been filled already? What should I expect at my first appointment?

  7. I feel I'm not getting enough of anything. After posting this I took my pain meds and walked around. That seemed to help. I also waited about 4 hrs before eating. I may have been hungry. I blended an egg with my chicken broth and some carrots and ate about 1 cup. That really helped. I feel okay right now. I have heard I may feel nauseated if I'm not eating enough. Thanks for it help.

  8. I am 4 days post op and just yesterday started to feel nauseated. Every time I am on my feet. Can't tell if I'm hungry or if I'm nausea or if it's gas. Has anyone took meds for their nausea. Just thinking of having another Protein Shake turns my stomach. I'm also afraid I'm not having enough of anything; Protein, calories. Any suggestions? N how long will I have this nausea feeling n bloated feeling??

  9. I was banded this morning at 8:45 n I'm feeling great. Thank you all for the support n prayers. I'm not sure if it was all the meds the doc gave me but so far no gas pain no incision pain. The worst part is the dry mouth n the sore throat n it's not bad at all. During pre-op in the hospital they gave me 2 different pain killers, 2 nausea pills, a patch for nausea that last 72 hours, volume, n they put Tylenol 3 in my IV. Been pretty drowsy. Overall I feel good n happy about my decision. I can't wait till I can start working out. The nurse said if I'm up to it can start taking walks outside tomorrow.

  10. Hi I'm Claudia and will b banded on January 2nd. I can't wait. I have 2 more days on my pre-op diet n start my journey to a brand-new me and a new week of liquid diet followed by a soft food week and then a blended week of food. I must admit I have had some BLT's (bites licks n tastes) but overall have done great. I've lost a total of 13 lbs n will weigh in again probably on the day of my surgery. It's been a tough week and a half but it's thought me about eating for fuel. Good luck to all of us...My prayers r with all of you for a smooth surgery n a quick n easy recovery.

  11. WHAT'S HARD is weighing over 450 lbs living connected to an oxygen machine barely able to walk 10 feet without "resting" being given a 3-5 years to live when barely 30 ... Every day waking up and living the life of an addict unable to stop binge eating going to bed hating yourself and trying to convince the world you don't care.

  12. I don't know how it will b after the band but right now I am on my day 11 of my liquid diet. I have tried doing weight watchers for years now n believe that the band is a great tool for me. We are all different. See my problem is really sweets n goodies my problem is good food. The band will help control some of it and my portions the rest n choices the rest of it. On my liquid diet I have been doing great. No cheating n made it through the holidays. Ya meaning no tamales no people. Did I want it... check ya I did but knew that I couldn't so I didn't. Once I get banded' date=' I know there's certain things I can have n can't n am determined to stick with the rules. We just have to just like the liquid diet rules. If it's no then it's no...I'm so exited I've dropped 13lbs already and looking forward to many more.[/quote']

Ha ha many errors on this sorry. My problem is not sweets it's food. N no tamales n no pozole not people. Haha we had lots of people... it was actually at my house n ya peeps were like " not even a taste" I would say "a taste will turn into a couple of bites, and a couple bites will turn into a whole plate" NO THANKS I'M SOOOOOO FULL WITH MY shake N TEN CALORIE sugar free Jello REALLY HIT THE SPOT....very sarcastic

  13. I'm in the pre-op phase in that I am still making and going to all of my doctors before I set my surgery date. I was following a general diet that the nutritionist recommended for me up until last week and I can't seem to get back on. I'm curious to know how you all felt before you got banded... did you ever question your willpower to actually stick with the diet? I'm so scared that I'm going to have the same fragile and short-lived willpower I have now even when I get banded... this is one of my biggest fears... being unsuccessful with the band.
