Thinking of you and wondering how you are doing! This will be the one surgery I will oat likely need for sure when I'm done losing, so I'd love to know how it's going.

Wow you look great!! I think you guys are so brave with the tummy tuck surgeries!! They terrify me. But I'm also not there yet in my journey.

    Couch2 5K?

I don't know the best app as I used podcasts, but c25k is awesome!! I started it this summer at 292 pounds and lost thirty pounds while doing it. I was never a runner and after the first week of the program I totally did not believe I could ever run three miles, but I stated with the program and low and behold. I did!! I was training for a half marathon before I got the approval for my band.
  8. I was banded Tuesday, and have spent two days with family and have two more to go, and none of them know! I just said I had food poisoning this week and that my stomach was real sensitive and wasn't taking food well. I thought for sure that someone would say something but people are pretty self absorbed. People haven't really said much. You'll be fine for one day!

What if i dont want to diet?

Thanks guys. That's exactly what I needed to hear. I have been very successful at losing in the past, with moderation and calorie counting. My downfall is the volume eating and yo yo ing. I'm a binge eater, can easily mess up a weeks worth of healthy eating in one night. That is exactly what I hope the band will help me with.
  10. I only had to stick with an 800 calorie a day diet, for one week prior to surgery. They wanted us to lose ten pounds.

December 2012 --- Band Buddies Unite!

I'm not you tubing yet but should. I'm not telling anyone in my real life other than my husband so I need to start up a new YouTube for it. I'm so excited to shop in smaller sizes and have more options!! I don't really feel too inhibited with my size except for clothes. I do what I want for the most part. In fact, I've been training for the tinkerbell half marathon in January, although I signed up for that before I knew I'd be having surgery this year. I'm pretty active. I did a triathlon and a 10k race this year. It will be nice to fit with room to spare on an airplane!! And my kids are too little to understand what fat is yet, so maybe by the time they do I won't be anymore.

December 2012 --- Band Buddies Unite!

I have been swallowing ibuprofen just fine, as well as Tylenol. I was also never given liquid restrictions, but do notice I feel full after not too much of it. So there must be some restriction. I have still not lost weight since surgery. I'm still retaining Water I suspect. This weekend we are going home for Christmas and it will be interesting. I told no one in my family about the surgery, so it's going to be a little weird. I plan on saying I had a food poisoning episode and that my stomach doesn't feel ready for real food yet.
  14. I was banded on Tuesday, 12/18. I am only two days post-op, am feeling ok physically. I am, however, having some major anxiety and hormonal craziness. I cried today, wondering what I had done, asking myself why, and really regretting my decision. Which is so silly, considering I have been on a 6 month program up until this point. I think part of it is hormonal, but that doesn't change the way I feel. Has anyone else felt like they made a big mistake right after doing this? I am freaking out that I will never be able to eat food again without feeling instant pain in my chest (I imagine right now it's gas still in my chest giving me those pains). I'm grieving over all the things I'll never get to eat again, even in moderation. I'd love to hear some support and encouragement right now. Thanks.

    Met Goal today

    Congratulations!!!
  16. COngratulations for being a size 12!!! 180 is my initial goal, congrats!!! Size 12 is fantastic!!! And yes, as we've gotten fatter, sizing has changed, otherwise we'd all be plus size now....
  17. Yep! Totally had this breakdown yesterday, mad at myself that I couldn't just do it on my own and had to put myself through all this pain and frustration of surgery. Sad and grieving the fact that I won't be able to have all the foods I used to. How stupid is that, though? I'm both sad and angry that I'm so overweight, and then in the same breath crying because I can't shovel down taco bell anymore. LOL It's totally normal. We will get through it

I'm not aware of any antibiotics that I was given, either. Perhaps it was via IV. I haven't gone #2 either, will get some "stuff" over the weekend if I can't get things moving then. Any of you feeling like you can't drink Water very fast yet? I can drink bigger swallows, but still can't down 8 oz like I used to be able to. I really hope that is something that goes away - I really like being able to drink a big glass of water!

    Brand new and freaking out....

Thanks everyone. I am feeling much better both emotionally and physically today. I really appreciate the thoughts!!

Gas / bloating / Post surgery

I was banded tuesday. I would say that clothing didn't matter, I came home in the same comfy stuff I wore there. The gas is more painful than puffy, if that makes sense?

December 2012 --- Band Buddies Unite!

Hi Leigh!! I'm so glad you started a little group for all the December bandsters. It will be great hearing how others are doing along their journeys. I was banded on the 18th. Am doing ok, still feel pretty swollen and tight around my sternum. Some air pressure, but not tons. Am off my pain meds, just using ibuprofen now. I'm having more of a mental issue now then anything, wondering if I did the right thing, scared of never feeling "normal" again, etc. I'm sure that many people go through that once they get banded. I hope as I start to feel better those feelings will go away.

    the next day after surgery

I was banded tuesday. I feel your same pain! So much gas and gurgling. Can't wait to be over with the gas pains!
  23. Actually that is exactly why I chose the band. I need it to be a lifetime thing, not a quick race to the end. I think you are being very honest with yourself and with us and that's awesome
