I Don't Want To Tell Anyone I'm Considering Lapband
I have told everyone I know. I made this decision for me. Don't care what others think. I know this is my chance to save me. people will always have an opinion but it is mine that counts for me.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
My decision on lap band was for a few reasons . It is less invasive. I feel it is better to lose the weight more gradually. recovery time s faster. Less complications. It is reversible. With lap band all you have to take is a good multi vitamin.

Dr. Jeff Holloway - New member
Dr. Holloway will be doing my surgery on Jan 22 and I can't wait. Him and his staff has been wonderful. They have made this all very easy for me. I went to a seminar in May had my first consultation in June and have probably contacted his office 20 times or more with questions and concerns. My calls have always been answered on the spot or in a timely fashion with friendliness and real knowledge. Nicole was awesome in letting me know what was needed for the medicaid approval. Got my paperwork in and approved in 6 months. A shout out to my primary doctor who first suggested the lap band. She is awesome. Mona is wonderful. They have a lap band support group that meets the first and third Tuesdays of the month.have I had an awesome pre-op experience so far and have no doubt the post-op will be the same.

Down 80 pounds in 7 months (pictures)

What are you most looking forward to?
being able to stand at stove, sink, or whatever for as long as needed without having to go sit because back, hip, knee or whatever else hurts. I had to tonight that is what made me think of it. I know it is mostly weight related as I have never injured my back etc. The knee maybe sports related but I know getting weight off will help.

January 24, 2013
A friend just asked me that a couple nights ago and I can say I am not worried or nervous Just ready for the surgery to be done. Remember that most of those talking about the easy way out are speaking out of ignorance. It only takes a few minutes on this site reading posts and blogs to know this is not an easy way out.

New rules!
Thank you that was very informative. That really helps to know the hows and whys. This is the best it has ever been explained to me.

I want ro learn more from you.
well you found a great site. Any doubts I have had about this being the right decision for me are gone. Also any ideas that this would be an easy fix are gone as well. You don't get the bad and automatically lose weight you gotta work your program. Make the changes you need to make and Know it is not for a while it is for life. From what I have read here and elsewhere I believe 80-90% of lap band failures are due to noncompliance.

January 2013 Bandsters Unite
My date is January 22 and I was asked just last night if I was nervous or worried and can honestly say no not even a little bit. That is how I know I have made the right decision for me. As far as telling people I have told everybody I know and some I don't know. As far as them judging me I don't give a rats furry behind. I have been judged all my life just by being fat. You know oh look at her she must be lazy, slow, a glutton. Why doesn't she do something about it. I am doing this for me. Really don't care what others think. Most people that say this is a cop out or the lazy way are talking out of ignorance. They did not put in the hours of research. Many of them have never had a weight problem. Been on the diet roller coaster. been outcast simply by looks.

Need a fill?
I am not banded yet so can only speak from what I have learned on here and from the support group I attend. The being afraid of an overfill thing I was told to make sure and have a couple drinks of water after your fill if that wont go then food definitely wont. Whether or not my surgeon requires this after a fill I will hang out and drink some water before leaving that office. I have also read a good way to break a stall is to go back to a liquid diet for a few days. Good luck I am sure between you and your Dr. you will figure this out.

confused!
A 4 oz piece of meat is about the size of a deck of cards. My dietitian gave me a sheet with the portion sizes all compared to normal everyday items like that. I so wish I could find it. It really helped me.

What are you most looking forward to?
Taking off seat belt extension. Shopping any where I want. Have a lap for dads dogs to sit on instead of my chest. Being able to sit on ground and not have to worry if I am gonna be able to get up. Being able to sit in a booth in any restaurant. Not having to analyze a piece of furniture at someone else's house to make sure it will hold me. Knowing I can fit on any amusement ride. Going skydiving when I get to my goal.

5 days post-op
Five days is a long time to be on clear liquids. Are you cure you did not misunderstand. I would call drs. office and clarify between liquid and clear liquid. On clear liquids try sugar free jello.

I feel I should be sending you a thank you daily just for your posts. your answers, comments and blogs are usually spot on and full of common sense. I have surgery two weeks from today. yay I look forward to using you and others as my inspiration, motivation and knowledge as I take this journey. Thank you thank you thank you.

Fat free VS Sugar free?
I was shopping for some post op supplies the other day and ran into a problem. What is more important when picking out soups, puddings and such, that they are fat free or sugar free?
