Okay. I've been banded since December. I really haven't lost much, which had been really depressing since everyone else has been doing so good. I've been losing, but EXTREMELY slowly.
Then my last fill....miracle! Suddenly I wasn't hungry, and I was seeing steady loss, a little faster than before. I was thrilled, and finally I'm thinking that this is it.
Then I got a kidney stone. My first. (Hopefully, my last. Owww!) And until I passed that sucker, I threw up and threw up, and threw up.
I called my surgeon, and asked if I should come in and have it checked, but the nurse said that if I was still getting food down, and not having heartburn then I was probably okay.
That was two weeks ago. It's been getting steadily worse. Now I'm having heartburn even if I only I eat 2 or 3 bites of food, and anything more than that just isn't going down.at all. Its REALLY, REALLY tight suddenly.
I'm not sure what's going on! If I did actually make it slip when I was sick, would it show up this much later? Is there any reason why a band would suddenly tighten up?
I should probably have a slight unfill, but...but I was there! Green zone! And seeing progress finally! If this is something that might resolve I just don't want to do it.
Ideas?

This isn't the first time. I went to meet some friends for brunch. I was starting to think I had the eating out figured out, if you know what I mean. I usually just order an started or kids size and pick at it. I have a fear of getting stuck when I'm out.
Because I was afraid of what just happened. I did good originally. Got a kids plate and didn't come close to finishing it. Then, we sat and chatted for a while. Over the chips and salsa. And I had a couple with no problems. Then, I had a total brain flub, and a couple more chips with it. Shoot, I don't know how many chips there were.
Suddenly, my band says "okay, THAT IS QUITE ENOUGH, THANK YOU!". And what I've always dreaded came true. I spent the next 20 minutes in the restaurant toilet throwing up my brunch with my friends banging on the door every couple of seconds to check on me.
Dang, I sure can break up a gathering.
I wonder how long it takes before eating this way becomes natural and I don't have to worry about embarrassing myself in public?

I was banded 12/26 and I HATE exercising. HATE. Yes, it helps me lose a little, but I literally have to force myself to do it. Even then, I have to set a timer so I can count the minutes til it's over. I've lost weight before by nearly living at the gym, but that's not something I feel like I can reasonably sustain for any length of time. I get burned out, or just lose my motivation.
This time, I'm trying to exercise at a pace I think I can actually keep doing. It isn't much. I've been using my hand weights and walking 3-4 times a week for 30-40 minutes. Right now, I'm going to physical therapy for an unrelated issue and he has given me several other exercises.
My rationale is that if I lose weight mainly through exercise that I can't sustain, then I'm not doing myself any favors. My intent is to lose as much through diet as possible, wait for restriction and just try to stay active.
I was wondering if any other are having exercise issues?

I was banded Dec 26th, and as of TODAY I haven't lost a pound. I'm depressed. At first, I couldn't east much due to swelling, but lately I can pretty much eat anything. I've been trying my best to keep my calories down but I. Am. Hungry.
I'm not filled, and I go for my first full on the 31st and I am desperately hoping that gets things moving.
Anyone other December bandsters having any trouble? Hate to vent, but this is frustrating!

I went for my first post-op apt yesterday and my port site is looking infected. I knew it was hurting a lot, but it still had tape from the surgery on. Got some antibiotics and ointment and a follow up apt next week.
Plus, haven't lost a single pound since my surgery day.
Depressed.

What is NSV?
It's just an abbreviation for a "non-scale victory".

Thanks, guys! It was something I definitely needed after watching my friends chow down last night.

I miss pizza and italian bread...Last night, my friends ordered a pizza and cinnamon sticks while we hung out. I had a few bites of pizza, and they went down okay, so I got careless and attempted a bite of a cinnamon stick. "NOPE!", said my band, in no uncertain terms!
bread does not work with a band, so I'm going to have to figure out other cinnamon-y Snacks. Garlic should be easy, though!

Today, the first year of my new life with my band, I got up to take out the dog. I grabbed some lounge pants that I haven't put in in a few weeks, took two steps, and they LITERALLY feel to my knees!
Plus, the jeans I put on next are falling of my butt! Had to look for my belt to hold em up!
So excited for this year!

Couple days out now, got banded on Wednesday. I'm having pain but I can't really tell what's actually going on. I'm very sore, plus having incision pain, PLUS I'm still not sure what the band is supposed to feel like. My surgeon said he "put a bit in", so I know I would be feeling restriction if I was on solids, but I'm still on liquids for the next week.
What the heck is it supposed to feel like in there?

So what about NSVs. What is something small that you are going to be proud of? I think I'll be quite happy when my boots slide up easily over my calves. What's yours? This happened to me the other day! I put on a pair of jeans and they were loose, which made me happy. THEN I put my boots on, and they zipped right up. I was actually shocked for a second!

Hi, all! Was banded Wednesday, am still very sore and tender. The weather here is crap, so I haven't been taking my walks. I think its time to head to the local mall....for my health, you know!
My biggest problem is that I'm really not able to get much down. broth goes down, but that's not many calories. Yogert and pudding is about all rest if it.
What are you guys eating to get since calories in? I can have 800, but yesterday I didn't even break 200.

Got my band today, and ended up having to stay overnight. Yuck. Pretty sore, but I'm up trying to walk. Can't wait to get home!

My liquid diet starts tomorrow! They only gave me 3 days..
I'm jealous! My surgeon has me on 500 calories a say, all liquids. It sucks. I have lost about ten pounds in a week, though!

So I went in for my pre screening apt this morning, after starting my liquid diet on Monday morning. My surgeon said he wanted at least a 6-7 pound loss, which I thought sounded CRAZY.
I lost 8! Its been a miserable week, but this made me feel like it can be done and I'm on my way!
Now. Five more days...bring it on.

I'm scheduled for the 26th.
He DID say that if I made my Friday weight, that I could eat Christmas dinner. That was nice, and an unexpected surprise. Think he was feeling sorry for me!
I have several 12 hour shifts between now and Friday, though. Those are going to be rough. Im already exhausted and groggy.

i saw my surgeon today and he gave me my pre-op diet. All liquids, and ONLY 500 calories a day!
AND i go back and weigh in on Friday, and he wants a 6-7 pound loss. I really cant imagine losing that by Friday.
I wonder why the wild and crazy variations in the pre-op diet?

I've recently found out that my horrible allergies were the result of gluten intolerance. I'm still working on finding things that don't aggrevate this, and I'm scheduled to be banded next week. My surgeon did an EGD last week, and found some erosions, and scarring that I was no aware of. I'm guessing that I've been irritating my system for a long while now, without even knowing it.
Any others here who can't eat the wheat? Does it make things more difficult after surgery? They've moved up my surgery date, so I'm feeling a little...frazzled.
I've pretty much been self-treating by sticking to a low-carb, paleo sort of diet.
I'm afraid I might've screwed up my band!

Thanks, B·52. I was feeling a little irritable til your response.
I DID call my surgeon immediately after my stone and I followed their recommendations. Maybe I wasnt clear. They said to come in immediately if suddenly nothing was going down, even saliva.
I am getting solids down, just not much and all the signs of slippage that I found were either being able to eat anything you wanted suddenly, if no solid foods at all.
My theory (such as it is) is that I should've been much more kind to the band after I got sick and stuck to liquids for a while to let it recover. I didn't. My doctor didn't mention it, and I didn't think about it.
I think that my last fill left me pretty tight, and that I've just irritated it further with all that's happened.
Thanks for being kind. :-)
