I'm also from Cleveland, and self pay. I drove to Cincinnati to Dr Trace Curry. It was $12875 which I financed through Care Credit and then $400 upfront that I had to pay out of pocket. I put it on the 60 month plan, which is just under $300 a month. We're going to pay more than that, because I plan to use the same account for my tummy tuck, so I need to get it paid off fast. :blushing: I drove down once and did my psych consult, seminar, and first visit all in one trip (2 days, I spent the night). Then once more for nutrition class. Then for surgery. It's on this side of Cincy so it was only a 3 hour drive each way from Medina. Not that bad at all. It helped that Dr Curry was well recommended!

I know it seems like so long and such hard work. But don't give up, the insurance company would love that. It will definitely be worth it! You can be one of 2 places 6 months from now. Banded, or not banded - the same weight with that 6 month diet still ahead of you.

Sadly, no resident trainers. I plan to hire one once I can do my 30 min of cardio without needing CPR afterward. And, that's my fear, overdoing it. I'm just not sure what I'm supposed to be doing at this stage. I feel about 98% right now, just an occasional little twinge from time to time.

How about if I drive in the car next to you? :blushing:

It's made from chickpeas and garlic. It's super yummy. You wouldn't eat a bowl of it or anything, just a little bit on crackers. In the old days I ate it on pita bread.

I don't disagree. I did my research and never found any compelling reason to pick one over the other, so I deferred the decision to the doctor. He actually suggested I get the Realize since I'm a web junkie, but ended up giving me the AP band. Seems to be working, and I haven't died, so at this point I'm ok with his decision. :blushing:

Does anyone else have the restaurant card?
Angie4b1g replied to conniesueb's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
And btw, I'm still new to this. But I've just been ordering soup and then picking off my husband's plate to go with it. I really don't see the need to cause a big scene, and none of our favorite places are going to give me any trouble. -

What the hell? They wouldn't let you share a plate? That's insanity!!!! -
My doctor asked me if I had a preference or if I wanted him to put the one that 'fit in there best'. Obviously I went with choice B. I don't care if I have the one that is new or trendy or what. I want the one that works best for MY body.

Well, you better be "OK" then because if he comes here and posts "not OK" with no details, we're all going to go insane worrying/wondering. -

My surgery and weird reaction to anestesia
Angie4b1g replied to coolcrystal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I'm glad all of THAT is behind you. Sorry about your fat liver, but at least he didn't say it was your butt that was too big? lol It's all better from here  -
Bumping this up because quite a few recipes have started rolling in, so I think at the very least we will be able to get a PDF file out - which would be FREE! Remember, these don't necessarily have to be lapband specific recipes, although healthy would be good, and not so much bread.

I'm recently banded and plan to continue attending WW. I love the accountability and the people there! I will NOT be telling them I had surgery, though. Thanks for the tip about 20 points. I was wondering how on earth I'd eat 30 points a day and it not be ice cream. LOL
-
Um.... no. I wouldn't.

I normally don't lie under any circumstances, but I might have to here in a day or so. I didn't really tell anyone I was getting surgery except on a need-to-know basis. While I was in the hospital, my sister came to sit for the kids. Despite me making a point of telling her that the kids did NOT know I was getting surgery, sure enough she told them. My daughter has since blabbed to everyone she passes in the halls at school (she's 8). This weekend, the kids are going with my ex and his grandparents. I KNOW she's going to tell them all I had surgery, and of COURSE his grandmother is going to call and ask me what surgery and so on. I don't feel like they need to know my business and absolutely don't want to hear the lecture, so I never planned on telling them. So, my question is, WHAT do I tell her when she calls? I hate to out and out lie and say I had a gallbladder operation or something, but what choice do I have? ARGH! I hate that my sister put me in this situation. Help! Any ideas?
