  1. I felt like that yesterday. I had a 4cc fill for my first fill 2 weeks ago and I am hungrier now than I was before I had a fill! I'm just using all the power I have to fight the urge to go and get something else to eat between meals. Hoping to get another full in a week or so and it curbs it a little!! Just fight it..... You will win :0)

  2. Oh no!!! Not complaining at all. I had an empty band for the 1st 3 weeks. I went to my 1st post op appointment today and I thought it was just a check in check up..... I was just shocked that my doc gave me a 4cc fill on my very first visit. The question was is it normal to get a fill this soon?? I just wasnt expecting it considering I'm never particularly hungry! Maybe he did it coz I lost nothing for 1 week..... I don't know!

  3. HI

Good to hear your stories' date=' thanks!

    thanks

I too was banded on the 14th :0) I have a drink bottle of Water with me all day to wet my really dry mouth. I'm going back to work on Monday and I'm on my feet for 5 hours and I feel fine about it. Not a hard labour job but don't think I'll have too many problems now that the air is out of my chest. In saying that....... I'll let you know Monday after work if it was a good dicision or not lol. Good luck and happy healing xoxox

  4. Was banded yesterday and have just arrived back at home. I'm finding it really hard to get and stay comfortable. I have a strange pressure feeling in my ribs just under my boobs!! Every now and then it sends a sharp pain into my back and chest. Is this just the air they bloat you up with trying to move. And if so how long will this take to go away?? Apart from that I feel great really considering its less than 24 hours and have no real pain pain :0)

  5. I'm a total self pay patient!!! I'm in Victoria australia. My surgeon fee is $2700AU and my hospital stay with anesthesia is $9890! All my after care and fills are all bulk bille to medicare. I can claim $600 of the surgeon fees back from medicare.... The hospital is another story.. NO Medicare rebate. Although..... I can claim 20% of my out of pocket medical expenses back through my tax at tax time. Being banded on the 14th of jan starting pre op diet on Tuesday.... What a way to start the new year. Hoping his is the happy healthy new year to come :0) xo

  6. I don't know about the us...... But here in Australia there is no way any lad would require 13 viles. I am a phlebotomist( blood collector) and we can get up to 10 tests from 1 tube unless the doctor is requesting 13 specialty tests which is very uncommon. Here we have a "2 jab rule" unless it's in er and an emergency situation. You might want to go to another collection centre and ask them to check that. Modern medicine with the latest technology wouldn't never require 1 tube per test!!!

  7. The biggest struggle I have had making this decision is to pay out right or to get health insurance and wait the 1 year term or just bite the bullet and just go for it. My husband is very supportive and isn't concerned about the cost.... It's me!! I'm concerned that maybe my kids or him may have to go without some luxury items for me to do this. He understands but I am feeling mean!! I know that my quality of life will be a lot better in turn making it better for the whole family. This could just be part of my pre op nerves....... I don't know

  8. I'm new on here and have been reading for weeks. I'm scheduled for surgery on the 14th of jan!! I am having so many mixed emotions about it. I'm in Australia and am self funded and am paying $11,000 to have the band done.... But I am finding myself feeling really guilty about the spending that kind of money on myself when I figure I put myself in this position. I keep thinking that the money could better be spend on the whole family and that im being somewhat selfish!! Has anyone else felt like this??

  9. You are tooooo funny! But by the time we are 35 we wont be the fat girls in the corner with pretty faces!!! Even my mum said that to me in year 11 i think!!!

Haha. My mum still says that too me now!! I have been hearing it my whole life :0/ but hey..... If I don't have to hear it for the rest of my life...... I'll be a happy lady :0) xox

  10. Welcone with big cuddly hugs from all of us chelsea!!! I think you would make us laugh if you were 32!!!! And in melb!!! Im also with bupa they cover everything but are not friends with every hospital cos i had to pay for the days i stayed. Do research and talk to any one and every one!! Oh im happy today 2 weeks post-op 7.9kg. Oh my advice dont have metamucil in the morning cos i did and didnt eat all day!!! Totally not hungry! I was waiting to get hungry' date=' weirdest feeling ever! I used to chuck heaps with my old band but it doesnt hurt only the pain from being stuck. Which passes but you dont feel like eating after it. Today im off mushies and softer food with like extra sauce or mayo. I was tested today i ate out with my friend and i had sumo salad and i asked for less lettuce, it was a chicken cheese avacado mayo and i did really well!! As long as you chew food to mush and you wait a min inbetween swallows you should be fine.

I just had tea and to help keep the cals down cos of the mayo and crumbed chicken and cheese i decided not to have Protein tonight, i no that i shouldnt. So i had avacado, 1 sugar snap pea, mushrooms and 2 cherry tomatoes and mustard mayo, weighed it so i can track my cals. Oh advice with tomatoes, i found the skin was hard to chew so i peeled them and still stuck to my 1/2 a cup.

Otherwise ive just finished my 2 weeks off and go back to work at bakers delight tomorrow! I will only miss the spinach fetta and cheese danish after we stick them in the oven.

Oh i found a steamer is a fantasic way to chuck everything in inluding eggs, so as everyone but me has kidies, well i dont know if 2 zhu zhu pets count. Its a george forman 49 and fits tons. If you have any questions ask away and i have this on my mobile so i can get back quickly. Im great at writing essays!!! Oh if you have an android phone, i would recomend downloading my fitness pal so you can track your weight and cals and exercise. Also calorie king or you can get the book, its great especially for coffees!!! Have a great night and great to see so many of us on here!!![/quote']

Hahahha. I'm new too. From near melb and....... 32...... Next birthday lol

  11. Morning ladies' date=' I'm also an Aussie, about 90 minutes east of Melbourne. I was banded 13 April 2011 and have lost 63kg so far. Would like to lose about another 10 but am not in any great rush at the moment. I cannot believe how good I feel every day now, compared to feeling sick and miserable so much of the time before.

I'm also on myfitnesspal if you want to friend me there. I find it really helpful to keep track of my calories, especially because I have turned into something of an exercise junkie.

Best of luck to you both with your journey.[/quote']

I too am about 90 mins from Melbourne in gippsland. Are you in the same area?? If so.... Did you use a local surgeon or a melb one??

  12. Me too!!! Jan 14th :0) I'm feeling a little bit the same. Feels all a little surreal ATM. I'm self funded and am feeling quite guilty about the money in spending!! My husband is a great support and assures me that it's a small investment into my years of feeling self confident and healthy!! Hoping these feeling subside and I can look forward to the new me and start getting a bit excited
