    New Baby

Thank you, TM. About training that Rot, we had a really hard time training our Lab because he spent the first year of his life a near invalid (we rescued him and he almost didn't make it.) We couldn't concentrate on any traiing or discipline cause it was all we could do to get him walking and eating. A year after many meds and treatments, he was finally healthy, but dumb as a box of rocks. We figured we'd always just have a dumb dog cuz he wouldn't respond to his name (Porkchop.) Has a disaster on a leash. One day I was struggling along our walk with my headphones on, and the song, "Voodoo" by Godsmack was playing, so I was singing outloud to my favorite song. Every time I sang the chorus, "Voo-doooooooo, Voooo-dooooo" my little Porkchop would stop and cock his head. That night I showed Chris how Porkchop looked at me everytime I sung the word, "Voodoo." We were cracking up - he'd stop everything and look at me with his head cocked. So that's the day we changed his name to Voodoo, and ever since then he's listened to every command and is the most obedient best friend you could imagine. He sits, speaks, fetches his toy, goes potty. He even knows "go see daddy" and runs to find Chris. Here's the trick - a year later I read in a dog training book that dogs respond best to a double-vowel sounding name. BooBoo, Fi-Fi, LaLa BowBow... and that may very well be why Voo responded to Voodoo. It's the "Oooh Ohhh" or Eee-Eee that they can hear the best. Like "sit Ooboo sit, Good dog."
  2. Clara, what if I'm wrong??????????? THAT THOUGHT NEVER CROSSED MY PEA-BRAIN. I could be wrong. I could be WRONG! I know I'm wrong, I know I'm wrong, I know I'm wrong. There is hope! Now gimme some saline, screw swallowing, I'd rather be thin.

    Murphy's law for fills?

I'm making an appointment for a fill right this second. I don't even know where or with who, but I need restriction, badly. I have it in the morning and at lunch, but I need Restriction PM, stat.
  4. This mild itch is weird - like my skin is allergic to the liquid. I only feel the itch when it leaks outside my skin. I'm allergic to myself. I need fill advice - fast. I want to lose five pounds right this minute. I am really really tired of fighting lame-ass junk food. I put five pounds back on since surgery. Kuri said he gave me 1.8 cc, but Lopez only found 1cc in my band. Lopez gave me 1.7cc. But I swear, I had a tad more restriction before port replacement. Example, I've eaten Breakfast (real food) twice since port replacement/fill. I have never, ever eaten breakfast cuz I was too restricted in the mornings so I just had Protein shakes. I just made an omlette and potatoes, granted I think I stuck within band portions, but why the heck am I suddenly eating breakfast? I need help, I'm freakin'. Lopez and Jaramillo were both there, and there was only 1cc in my band. Then how come I don't feel worlds different? Going from 1 to 1.7 should be a huge difference. I WANT SALINE. GIMME. I feel like a fill junkie cuz I had just a taste and I want more, more, more. So, do you guys think I should spend money I don't have and get a local fill. It's only been 15 days since my fill. Help.

    Need advice before monday please

Babs lost twice the weight as me - listen to her, she knows best! Now I really want another fill. The one I got 1/6 doesn't feel any different at all.

    Stuid Human Stuff

Glued your eyes shut? At least they were sparkly. I've glued my fingers together with Krazy Glue, but never my eyes - gotta laugh!

Every single person is different. Nobody, not even your surgeon, can tell you how many fills you'll need. Heck, if I had a guy 2 hours away, I'd be happy to pay $150.00 every time. I personally think the $2000 is too high. That's an awful lot of fills. Plus, what does this $2000 cover other than fills? Does it cover port revisions or other surgeries? Or does it just cover fills, dietician and support groups? I would just pay the $150 for each fill (after the intial higher fee.)

    Coffee and Lapband

I can't imagine cappucinos are that fattening... you're probably only talking 1/4 to 1/2 cup regular milk, right? Because the steam fluffs it up. If you use zero-cal sweetener, that's a good way to get in protein. I've also read all sorts of health benefits from cinnamon, and that's a great way to spice up a cap. Damn, now I want one.

Thank you. I slept on my new straight hair last night, and it sure is nice waking up to somewhat manageble hair. I combed it and it's still looking pretty good. While I'm lovin' my new Iron, I also want to say how much I love my Roomba (vacume robot.) I could vacume my office in less than five minutes. But why would I do that when Roomba can do it in 20 minutes while I sit on my big butt? It works best when I close it in one room at a time, so I check posts and my little companion cleans my office floor. I love it, I really do! And she keeps me company, I swear, she knows I'm her mom - she comes near me when she wants to be emptied. I don't feel so alone when she's buzzing around my feet. She's on the charger now, so I kinda miss her, but my Roomba rocks!

Wow, I don't know where to begin! That baby Rot brought tears to my eyes... I'll have to visit Cooper today to get a puppy fix now. Rebecca!!!!!!! Wholy smoke, girl, you look FAB. You should post your before pics, and do it often. Maybe they'll help some of us get our junk food under control cuz you have done an amazing job. And that baby beast on your lap makes me jealous cuz my big 100 pounder won't cuddle. My 50 pound Pitbull thinks she's a lapdog, but Voodoo, my Lab Dane prefers hanging out by my feet. I love that spotted baby! And the dog wearing reading glasses - he looks so smart!

What is a good de-frizzer? I don't recall ever getting a guitar stuck in my hair, but once I rolled my bangs up in a round brush to dry them. The brush got stuck. After ripping out enough hair to cause a lump on my head, they had to cut the brush out, leaving me with choppy Baby-Doll bangs. I think I'll start a new fun thread for stupid stuff we've done.
  12. Hi everyone, I think it's bad news... I think the new port is already showing signs of rejection. The wound is leaking a lot, and I feel a tad of an itch. Today is the first day I actually feel the port. I think I'll pay a local guy to fill me up till I can't breathe. Melissa, has your doctor discussed "rejection" with you? My surgeon told me the Band doesn't want to be in my body - a small percentage of us will reject the band, and I happen to be one of them. It's a viscious circle because I eat when I'm stressed, and the stress of this rejection is making me eat. I've gained back 4 pounds in a week. I can't even feel the fill I got two weeks ago, actually, I feel less restriction. I still have restriction during the day, but last night I ate so much ice cream and dumped chocolate sauce all over it, then topped it off with 2 tacos right at bedtime. Today I'm meeting the Vegas Bandsters for the first time (small group, but I need all the support I can get) and maybe tonight I'll start going to OA meetings again. Frustrating, yep, but such is life. Thanks for all the kind words of encouragement, but I don't think my prognosis is good at this point.

    New Baby

I wish we were in a great big room with all these fur babies right this second. Yes, I'm going to hell, but I'm going with a Bloody Mary in one hand and a pint of Ben and Jerry's in the other! Those are so cute!

Where on Earth did you find that cow? I adore cows (and he could teach Chris a few tricks.) DID I JUST SAY THAT?

Leatha, you always say the words that are trapped in my head! "It's very open and pourous which causes it to just do what the heck it wants." That's what I've been trying to say for 30 years but couldn't get the words out. I guess porous hair holds a lot of invisible moisture, which is why it gets so poofy and frizzy. This gadget is cool cuz you can see the steam leaving your hair - even when my hair has been dry all day. You'd think someone would invent a shampoo to keep the moisture out, not in! I'm loving my new thingy.

Oh, first those happy pics and Paula's cute new face, then Jack's doll... but Michelle, that's horribly sad. You've been through too much already. Your lil Jack must be really sick from losing his best friend.

I haven't tried a curling iron, and I probably won't. I suck at doing hair. I've never been good at hair styling and usually just end up in a pony tail. My hair is horrible to manage cuz a lot of cows licked my head, so it's just all wirey.

    Murphy's law for fills?

The mind is a brilliant thing to waste - did I say that right?
  20. Geeze, just when I think it's safe to post a picture, the thing springs a huge leak! Better luck next time! But the local surgeon said draining is a good thing... then again, he's the one that likes to hurt people. Hi T!

So, Michelle and Zoe... are you saying I should make an appointment for a fill? Kinda like smokers who want the bus to come, so they light up?

    What exactly is ketosis?

I should pound ice water at night, but I have a lifetime history of insomnia. Sleep is such a precious commodity that I hate doing anything to interrupt it, so I avoid drinking anything after work. Like this morning, hubby's alarm went off too loud at 3:15 a.m., and I wasn't able to go back to sleep. So I'm at work early, which is okay, but come the afternoon I can't cope. Maybe I'll just suck ice cubes?

I've used tons of irons (straight and curling) over the years. This one is sleek - the iron pad things are only about an inch wide. I used some Paul Mitchell "Anti Snap" first. But this doesn't burn your hair the way metal irons do. Hard to explain, cuz the metal irons catch on the split ends and you can actually hear them snapping. This one is all ceramic, through and through, so you can see a little steam as you iron (which is just the moisture coming out of your hair.) I'll be the guinea pig and take another pic in a month to see if there's any damage - but my hair is naturally damaged anyway. I love this little iron. There's probably a picture at TruCeramicPro.com. Thank you for the compliments. I used to have more Chins than a Chinese phone book, but now I only have a couple!
