Haven't checked in for a while...I need to do this more but Wednesday marks my 8 weeks and I'm down 63 lbs and 2 jeans sizes and running and playing sports and feeling really good....I have only lost 3 lbs in the last 3 weeks but I think I just need to work on my macros a bit to find the right combination of carbs to Protein to fats

I was going to ask if it was ok to use Neosporin...did your doc say it was ok?
Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk / surgery date March 5' date=' 2013[/quote']
He said it was fine

I think it would drive me nuts. I probably would have picked mine off by now. Your surgery was a week before mine and my steri strips are almost all off and it's healed underneath so I bet yours are going to be fine.I'm trying to ignore it...my drain site didn't have glue and its fully healed but I'm just too nervous to get it off!!! Lol I'm probably gonna wait till its of the incision and then work on getting the rest off...

Hey there! My glue started coming up around the edges. I trimmed it as it came up and pulled a little if it was loose. Most of it ended up coming off about 2 days ago. I noticed that it doesn't seem to get loose until the incisions are pretty much completely healed underneath' date=' at least that's what happened to mine. They look so much better now that the glue is off though. That stuff just sealed in the dried blood and scabs and made it look much worse than it was. I am still waiting for my drain site to heal completely, seems to be taking forever since it was left open. And of course after about a week the tape and bandages starting wreaking havoc on my skin so I have left it open the last few days. Hope you are doing well![/quote']
I'm doing good! Everything is healing good and I'm ready for the glue to come off but I'm scared! Lol I won't pull it off till it is ready to come off

You should be able to get ster-strips at any pharmacy or Walmart. The Neosporin is great' date=' but it is probably going to cause the glue to come off sooner than you want it to.[/quote']
Ideally I'd like to peal off the glue and have perfect fresh skin below it with no scar lol not like that would happen but u know...one can dream lol

Crap. I'm so itchy I wasn't sure what else to do...ill stop doing that. Thanks for the advise!! I appreciate it

I didn't get any glue. I only had some steri-strips. A couple fell off and I just replaced them with stuff from my stash. I'm a wound care and hyperbaric nurse. You may want to steri-strip over the are where glue is coming off' date=' but it's going to come off eventually. As long as incisions look closed and not draining I wouldn't worry too much about it.[/quote']
Ok good...my incisions look really good and healthy. I've been kinda coating the area since surgery with neosporin to stop itching and to hopefully help with scarring. I figured the glue was going to come off eventually but I wasn't sure how I'm suppose to deal with it...it's my belly button incision and the one to the left of that. Both look good, but I don't want to "encourage" the glue to come off...where can I get steri strips?
-
I had mine the 12th and can barely see the incision' date=' but you can sure see where the tape was. I have no idea why I bothered telling them I was allergic to that adhesive if they just use it anyways. Glad you're doing so well. I've been walking like crazy. Did you gain any weight from the IV fluids after surgery?[/quote']
I gained 18 lbs after surgery (march 6) but I lost it all and then some since then...
-
First, I'm glad to hear that everyone is doing well and getting better
Second, the glue on my incisions is starting to come off, but there is no chance I'm gonna pull or pick at it...did anyone else have the glue come off in 1 piece or did u trim the loose pieces or what did u do??
-
Thanks y'all!! I'm waiting to go get prepped now!Don't cry like I did LOL
-

I COMPLETELY understand. I met this guy that ive been playing volleyball this year with since September...I knew he had a girlfriend and once I friended him on FB and he found out I was having this surgery...he has been all over me!! He's so excited about how I'm doing and he said to me that when I was thin (in my college days that are on FB) that I could have been miss America....I was like...what r u saying about how I look now cuz I think I'm still hot! My feelings of it is that I am starting a new life...who says I want old toys. Keep your options open and make him suffer.

I don't have to do this' date=' but think I want to just in case things don't flow smoothly after surgery... It will buy me more time! [/quote']
I can say from personal experience that it didn't hurt. I took mine at noon and 6pm the day before. I honestly think 1 bottle would have done it for me. And it didn't hurt and wasn't as bad as I though it would be. Drinking the stuff that doesn't taste great was the worst part of the whole process..,

Anyone taking the gas-x strips... Do you start by taking the recommended 2 strips? Or are you taking 1strip?I am taking them. I start with 1 and if I don't feel a change in 10 minutes, I get another

U know I'm surprised they don't do a "cleansing" of the rectum before lol
That's what the laxative did...flushes out everything from the stomach on down. I think I lost weight from that alone lol
-
Me too! Don't have to worry about holding the gown closed
I called my 2nd gown my Wonder Woman cape lol

Whoa a laxative bottle or two? I've been given no directives like that just pure liquid diet with the sugar free pops and jello.. I've been doing good I love hot n sour Soup it doesn't love clear liquid diet also egg drop of you strain them I'm good to go. I've not had just a day of broth or Tomato Soup yet but I'm sure I will.Funny part is I'm getting light headed but I'm drinking massive Water so idk your lucky only 3 days girl it's hard
Yeah not everyone has to do bowel prep. It wasn't bad but it was helpful to not have to go for a few days after and it makes it a "cleaner" area for the drs to work but its all up to them if u do it.
ElleG reacted to this -
Ya I'm still on clear liquids and I'm getting most of my Protein in
Hi Chell - what are you eating specifically?
