  1. the best way to start is start with some good underwear and bras that fit and maybe some Spanx. go ahead and watch TLC's What Not to Wear. no grandma jeans. no white briefs. we want sexy stuff now. Checkout the Christmas ads. Goid luck

Yep. Went to Victoria's Secret a few weekends ago. It was great to buy one of their bras in the store and go thru the panties and pick out cute and sexy ones.

  2. Change your brain. Don't focus on those 27 lbs. focus on how much you've lost. And think about just adding one more pound to that loss. That pound isn't that much. You've already lost pounds. Just get rid of one more. And one more. And then one day all 27 lbs will be gone.

I've lost ~100 lbs and have ~40 more to go. I can't think about that 40. I'm just focusing on losing a few and getting under 175 lbs. Then I'll conquer 170. Just a little at a time.

  3. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 8 yrs ago. Was banded last December and have lost ~100 lbs. I've even had the dosage of medicine go down. But it's very important to get the proper amount. Not just to lose weigh but all of the other symptoms. But my main point is that weight loss is possible when properly medicated.

  4. How about just telling her? Tell her you withheld the info as you wanted it to be in person. It's done, you're doing well, and there's no need to discuss it as there's no going back. Say you are ready to Celebrate and while you will join her for a meal eating a large amount of food is not necessary to truly celebrate. Won't be easy but I think you've already taken the biggest step by getting surgery. Best of luck.

  5. Since I'm not to goal yet I've been shopping the resale shops. Lucky enough to be in a city area that has lots of them.

One thing I've learned is that if I like it just try it on. The sizes varyjust as much as the names of the brands. Recently bought a dress that said 1X but also a size 14 jeans.

  6. Good for you for being honest. Your therapist doesn't have any insight as to why you feel this way? Aren't those feelings being explored? (No judgement just asking) Any behavior modification techniques suggested? Any "homework" given to bring you closer to your husband?

  7. I'll encourage you to be completely honest with your therapist. After three months you should not be in the same spot. Not saying all should be fixed but progress should have been made. Put it all out there. Your therapist will not judge you. And maybe your husband can join you for a few sessions. I'm not saying he should learn about the other man but you are looking for things that he's not giving. Maybe the therapist can help him see that and also open your eyes to the needs of your husband.

  8. This is just my opinion and I believe you can be successful.

I would get a fill. To me the Lapband is all about being properly adjusted. You shouldn't have to be hungry. Your portions should be a cup or less. It does take awhile to get to the green zone. But if you don't get fills then you won't reach it.

  9. I'm sorry Tara I see how that sounds.

I've also read a few other threads and they are helpful, supportive and caring. We are all in this together in one way or another. I for one was shocked to see that kina of overpowering person just be down right rude to her fellow Banders. I mean I can understand her point but it was gone about all wrong. I think a fight may have been what she was looking for. UGH

Anyway Hello welcome to the "sleeve" forms :)

Thanks. This is just a general forum though right? I'm on my phone and can't tell a thing.

As for me, I just wish for everyone to be successful and healthy. I will admit I read all the "ugly" stuff for entertainment but I refrain from joining in. I feel like most that were on the LBT site are the same as me. But if course there's always a few...,

  10. Please don't "band" us all together and think we are all the same. Some are nice, some are helpful, and then there are the others. Don't think we are sheep that agree with the "loud" ones.

I'm happy to get to know other people thru the more general forums.

    :-)

    Tara

  11. Went out last night and danced and danced and danced. Never once thought my feet hurt or sit this one out cuz I'm tired. I did sit some out if I was getting hot but there were plenty of people sweating so I know that was just the situation not me being out of shape. Met some new people and plan to go out next weekend too! (Happy dance lol)

  12. Some ideas....

Can you speak to management at the gym? It seems the employees are not understanding that their jobs are to make the customers happy. Just imagine how business would grow if they were helpful. I bet you would recommend the gym to others then.

Also look on YouTube. I've not looked up the use of workout machines but when I was having back issues it was helpful to look up the stretches the doctor recommended. The stick figures on a piece of paper just didn't work for me but seeing someone do the moments correctly was great.

As for the spare tire- it's my understanding that you can't specially work an area to get rid of fat. You can work to tone the muscles underneath but for the fat to go away you have to burn it off. Keep up the hard work and you'll get there.

  13. i had to laugh at all the posts here cause can relate so much to many of them. dad is the weight police' date=' mom still trying to shove food down me cause she misses her eating partner, sister still in competition and has turned to bulimia to catch up, other sister is awesome and sends me a shipment of new clothes at least once a month (i'm like her new dress up doll, lol!).[/quote']

Give that one sister my address. I'll be someone's dress up doll. I love clothes! Lol

  14. I really do wish you the best. It's probably going to be harder to lose and take longer too.

I use myfitnesspal to track calories. I've logged every single day for 10 months. I actually have more guilt about not logging than having a cookie. I have found myself getting out of bed at night to add something I might have forgotten.

Hopefully you can find the mindset that you had when you first got the band. That feeling that you can do it.

  15. I think you need to do some math.

How many calories are you eating daily?

How many calories are you burning?

You need to burn more than you consume. I wouldn't be worried about the volume of food you eat, I would be more worried about the amount of calories. Also, if you're exercising done eat back those calories. Run at a deficit.

It will be hard. You will probably be hungry. You just need to have healthy Snacks planned.

  16. I think when trying to get to goal some people still do the "diet" thing. They are very careful about what they eat and workout often. But once they are at goal, they'll have some dessert or an extra glass of wine. Or maybe they don't go to the gym everyday. They're no longer at a calorie deficit every day so they stop losing.

For myself, I've counted calories every single day for over 10 months. But I've still had empty calories at times that would make my doctor frown at me. Occasionally I've had that second glass of wine or some dessert while out celebrating a special day. And my exercise regime is hit or miss. BUT I know me, I know what's realistic for me. And that's how I plan to live my life. And I've lost over 90 lbs. I have no idea at what weight ill stop at. BMI charts say 125. Guess I'll figure out when I get there.
