Mis- You've been finding some things I want to protect myself against. Would you detail what actions you are taking so that I can make sure I check all my stuff? This is the only forum I've ever belonged to do I don't want to miss something. Thanks so much! -
Yep! Yep! I'm 10 months out almost and the washer still gets my port. I'm short so sometimes I have to really lean into the washer to reach the bottom. I've found that its really more my "skin" that hurts more than the muscle. That sharp pain of a pinch. Seems like you've thought thru what happened and have the appropriate amount of concern. Like you said if it changes you'll call your doctor.

December 2012 --- Band Buddies Unite!
blondegal_ replied to LadyLeigh2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad everyone is doing well. I hope to be down 100 lbs within the first year and hit goal before next summer. I had about 150 lbs to lose. But I know those last 20-25 lbs can be hard to get off so as long as I'm healthily I'll be happy and then will slowly work off the last bit. I can now walk more than 3 miles with my dogs and not be exhausted. I've starting jogging too but my asthma acts up and I can't jog much. Keep up the good work everyone! -

Down 85 lbs. Doing well. How about you? -
Losing my monthly fills ins coverage due to Obamacare come Jan 2014
blondegal_ replied to donna12's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When does your insurance change? Get yourself in for a fill before it changes and tell your surgeon you need to get to the green zone sooner than later. In a way I'm facing the same thing as I was self-pay with 1 yr of post surgery visits included which ends in December. I'm working with my surgeon to be the at the best fill possible. Not saying I won't be seeing him again but not monthly. And I've already started saving $ for those visits. Just some $ each week. -
My understanding is that you can swim/get wet with the flex. Is that true? Anyone?
-
Can you use the one and flex interchangeably? I just don't think I'd want the flex on my wrist all the time. Can you switch between wearing them and get accurate information? I'm a woman - I like fashion options. Lol.

Stay calm and thank them for their concern. Then tell them that you and your doctor have discussed all your options and the band is what is most likely for you to achieve long term weight loss. Tell them that it is important for you to become healthy that's it's not about fitting into a certain size of jeans. Tell them you will be exercising, that the amount/types of food you will be eating will change (like a diet) but the band is a tool to help you be successful long term. Then ask them if they have any questions. Then after all that if they can't be supportive it's their issue. Remember this is your journey. Best of luck!

Reality smack in the face
blondegal_ replied to katiev629's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
When it's all said and done I hope to lose about 150 lbs. That's a whole other adult. No wonder I used to be so tired. 85 lbs gone; 65 to go. -
I take mine in the evening. Multi before food and then calcium chews a bit afterwards. If I don't have food with the multi it gives me heartburn but that happened before the band too. And I sometimes use the calcium chews as a dessert. They're like a little bite of caramel to me. For those that aren't taking your vitamins I strongly encourage you to do so. Our bodies really do need them.

3 days after surgery--any ideas for clear soup?
blondegal_ replied to Florida Joe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was allowed dairy so I took various broths and added heavy cream to them. Even though cream is high in calories at this stage I was having such little amounts, it didn't add up to much. Walmart carries Pacific brand and I liked many of them. French onion is still a favorite. -
Ok. This thread had me laughing but this cause me to spew Water onto my phone. Thanks Guy!

I have. Do you have any specific questions?
-
1-2 lbs per week is average. It's not realistic to expect to lose 5 lbs per week. I would suggest you start counting calories. This will help when you start getting hungry. Though it happens for some, the feeling right after surgery doesn't last and you'll need to get fills to reach that again. Please remember how long it took you to put the weight on and use that to get a realistic idea of how long it will take to reach goal. If I can keep it up, I should reach goal ~16 months after surgery. But from the beginning I've given myself two years. I want to be healthy more than I want to be skinny. Best of luck on your journey.

We have assorted free drinks at work. Just kills me some days to hear a coworker pop open a soda. Especially if I think it's a Dr Pepper. Sigh....

Day 3 Post Op... Hungry
blondegal_ replied to jdewv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The antibiotics gave me this problem. You might check with your doctor as it's not normal -
I second the questions above. Would appreciate any info on poshmark you might share. Thanks!

Finally feel in control

Funny how cleaning physically helps us "clean" mentally too. If I ever tell my sister I was scrubbing the tub she says "what's wrong?" Lol -

GI problems and protein powder
blondegal_ replied to silly_weasel's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Maybe it's a bit too much of a new product too quick? Also if I'm not careful with fruit sugars my stomach reacts. Just some thoughts... -
It will seem expensive but buy some bottles of water once you are thru security. Sure you can get water on the plane but my long flight was an overnight one and I woke up very thirsty but didn't want to bother the ppl around me. Was very glad to have a bottle of water. Also try to have an aisle seat and make sure you have a barf bag. And if you get stuck just blame it on motion sickness.

9 months in and might finally be time for a fill
blondegal_ replied to finallytime's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You've done great but it need not be by sheer will. Use your band to its full capabilities. A fill will hurt just a little but it can help you tremendously. And don't be afraid to go get a second, third, fourth fill. The band is designed to be filled. Best of luck. -
We have not met for quite awhile. But I'm willing to meet. Does anyone have any suggestions for time and place?

9 months and I still mourn Dr Pepper. Sigh....
