    Went to the church today that my brother's family attends to see niece and great nieces in their Christmas concert. Parked in the first spot I saw and hurried into church. Then afterwards I carried my three year old great niece around and out to their car. Never once was tired. Never thought about putting down my niece (who was capable of walking but it was very crowded). And all in heels. Still have a ways to go to get to goal but I'm well on my way to being healthy.
  2. So what would happen if you told her all if this? It seems like you're holding a lot of you emotions in. I know at times we bite our tongue to not rock the boat but this isn't a wet towel left on the floor that annoys you. Maybe an open honest discussion would help. And by the fact she emailed you, I know that is probably a difficult conversation to have. But I encourage you to consider it if you want this relationship to continue and be healthy.

    Finding Pants That Fit

    Hoping for some suggestions... I've become very pear shaped. Went shopping Thursday night as I need some dress slacks for work. The current ones I'm wearing I can pull the waistband away from my body and see all the way to my shoes. I couldn't find any that fit properly. I found some 14W that fit my butt and hips but were too large in the waist. Even with a belt they would still gap in the back. I left without buying any. I might have bought that one pair but I just won't spend $50 on pants that don't fit right. So I'm looking for suggestions of brand names of dress slacks for pear shaped women.

    Thanks for the info. My waist is a reg 14 maybe a 12. But hips and thighs are not. Hopefully I can find a brand that's curvy like me. I'll check out kolhs and Talbots.

    Daily Calorie Burn Recommendations?

    SkinnyJenn That's ~3 lbs per week and that's a lofty goal. But to achieve it you should calculate your BMR. That will tell you how many calories you body burns daily at rest. Then decide how many calories you want to eat daily. Take the difference (eg mine is BMR of 1425 and I try to stay at 1000 calories consumed daily so 425 calories burned daily with no exercise) and multiple that by 7 to get your weekly minimum burn (2975). To lose 3 pounds per week you need to burn 9500. So 9500 minus your weekly minimum burn divided by seven will give you the daily amount of calories you need to burn by exercising. For me that would be ~910 calories a day. That's a lot even with the amount you add just doing normal things. I don't go into all this detail to say you can't do it. But I believe in realistic goals. Before surgery I needed to lose 1/2 my body weight. I therefore needed to lose a whole person exactly like my "goal" me. I hope to do this within two years. I've managed to lose 100 lbs in about a year. But I'm losing more slowly now. Why? Partly because as you lose weight your BMR goes down so you have to exercise more to make up the difference. And I'll admit. I'm not very good at exercising. I wis you luck but no matter your size enjoy London! I'll be going again in June. One of my favorite places to go.
  8. OP- A lot of people are focusing on the "only 9 pounds". But what about the focusing on the things that made you gain those 9 pounds? Maybe she didn't go about it right (email ugh) but maybe she was trying to give you a wake call that she sees you slipping back into old habits. Are you working your band to the fullest? Are you focused on getting healthy or have things started to slide. Only you know her, only you know her heart. You have to decide (decipher) if her message was really out of love or not. Best of luck.

    I feel for ya. Some women in my family have cankles. And there isn't an exercise and its not really even fat. My sister weighs 120ish and has them. Surgery might be your only option but I bet it would be considered elective.

    Yes yes yes And I know you can't truly exercise and get rid of fat from an area. But would do just about anything to shrink my thighs. I can deal with the full butt/hips. Can't stand slacks to be even form fitting on my thighs. As far as dresses go, I still got some boobs so size 14 dresses look ok. In fact I've mainly been wearing dresses with suit jackets and sweaters. But with the onset of cold weather I was wanting some pants.

    Hang on to it and when you get to goal take it to a tailor and have it remade. And the go out with a fabulous friend and celebrate life.

    Bonnie I'm much the same. I was just trying to find some black slacks that fit. I know I tried on at least 15 pairs in Macy's the other night. I'll just have to try again as there were still brands I didn't try.

    Thanks Mis I think I had some of the curvy ones in the dressing room. I think I'm just too un-proportional right now. My waist is down to a 32 but I still carry a lot in my butt/hips and my thighs. And since I need work slacks I refuse to have them tight in my thighs. Guess I'll just have to venture out again and try on more. Maybe I'll at least find some on sale.

    Sliming

    B-52 I had a small piece of tomato skin stuck. And yes I would say stuck is the correct term. It did not go down. I slimed some and also felt a little pressure and this lasted quite a while. I was able to get down small sips of Water without it coming up. So there are different levels of stuck and sliming. I finally decided to gulp water knowing it would come up. I then started to really slime and had to PB. And the only things that came up were the slime, water, and little piece of tomato skin. It was no bigger than a fingernail. So maybe give people a little leeway with their usage of words. Most are doing their best to describe their experiences.

    I like Mexican food so for grilled chicken I'll dip it in plain Greek yogurt that had Mexican spices. Helps out if chicken is dry and I get some protein with the Greek yogurt.

    When a post looks like that, slide it to the left and it will look better though if someone is using a small font or certain colors it can still be hard to read on the app.

    Our One Year Approaches!

    I've lost 100 lbs. Have 40-50 more to lose. I've gotten a bit off track but plan to start weighing/measuring all food again tomorrow. I still log everything into MFP but I've been just estimating. It's been pretty smooth all year. I've gotten stuck but nothing major. Can't wait to see how others are doing.
  18. I didn't think it was a matter of opinion. I thought there were studies showing the body can only absorb so much in a certain amount if time. (Oh how I wish I kept a log of things I had looked up)
  19. Also note your body will absorb only a certain amount of protein at a time. I think the number is 30-35 grams. So consuming something with more does not mean your body absorbed it.

    Stay hydrated. That's very important. And like Mis said you still need to be aware of protein/nutrients/vitamins. But IMO it is ok to eat less (or fewer times) than your doctor recommends.

    Don't quite know how to explain this is as a NSV but I hug people. A lot and often and even ones that I'm merely an acquaintance with.
  22. I go to live music or out dancing and don't drink. Dinner and a movie is standard but even before WLS I also thought it was nice if the guy suggested something else. Also think of meeting at non eating times. 3 in the afternoon or after 8 at night.
  23. Just suggest other things to do besides going to dinner. I'm in the DFW area and there are so many fun things to do. Eventually you'll reveal you've had WLS but it shouldn't really matter. I've been on plenty of dates (have Lapband) and just don't worry about it.
  24. Alex, I know you are working hard to get the site running properly. I also expect the app to not be as robust as the website. But often when using the app posts are sometimes filled with code, links don't work, and photos can't be viewed. Any suggestions? Thanks
