Don't feel bummed. I was banded a month ago today. I'm only down 10. But....I feel great.
Keep up the good work and this will work. We didn't gain this weight overnight.
I just keep reminding myself that I gained this 1 donut at a time, then 2 donuts, then 3, 4,......etc.
Now, I drive past the donut shop and wave at the cute Vietnamese girl at the counter. While she is sad that she hasn't seen my ugly mug in a long time, I would go into acute sugar shock if I ate one now.

i don't think how bad i got was normal. but my doc has had me on some solids(jello' date='pudding, yogurt) besides liquids. stool softener is the best preventative. i did all the right things, but #:! happens! or in my case, it didn't.merry christmas[/quote']
Glad you are doing better. Get some rest.
Merry Christmas.

me either..is this normal
It was a week for me also. Take your stool softeners even if you think you don't need them. My doctor explained that when nothing solid goes in, nothing solid comes out.
Hope all are doing well and wishing everyone a happy holiday.
Been absent for a few days, was hiding in an undisclosed location awaiting the end of the Mayan calendar.

Oh I have a 3 day pre op...
Nothing on Christmas day heavy ....
3 day pre-op sounds good. 3 week was torture.

Thanks. It is just a strange sensation.

I'm 6 days post-op and doing well. I have one issue that has me perplexed. I have sneezed a couple of times and when I do, my abdominal muscles will twitch for a period of about 5 minutes afterward.
No pain or discomfort but twitching can be a little unnerving. Anyone else have this?

LOL!!! Ok' date=' that kinda grossed me out and made me laugh all at the same time! Thanks for the giggle, Mike![/quote']
My nutritionist was dead serious when she told me about that. I do believe, however, in the interests of medical advancement, that there should be clinical trials concerning this. I would be willing to take one for the team. LOL

In a little more than 13 hours we will be heading to the hospital for my 6am showtime!....I'm nervous now for sure! Spent some time today making dinners for the family so my husband won't have to burn grilled cheese sandwiches for the kids in the next few days...Thank you to those that mentioned the gas-x strips....bought some the other day! To all Dec 17th banders Good Luck tomorrow!Grilled cheese!!!! Sounds good!!!
I was already warned by my nutritionist that I am not allowed to put a grilled chese sandwich in the food processor. Wonder what that would taste like pureed?
Good luck tomorrow!!

Wow. The differences in the level of care is eye-opening. I guess I am very lucky.
I went Wake Forest University Baptist Health, a large hospital in Winston-Salem. I was never pressured. The staff has always been accessable and helpful.
I knew upfront that I would be staying overnight and during that overnight stay, the hospital staff made sure that I urinated. I wasn't being cleared to leave until I did. Before I did leave, a hospital pharmacist met with me in my room to discuss my prescriptions and to show me how to take my medicines properly.
Obviously, these people are doing this for a living but I was never made to feel that quantities of procedures was a priority.

My fav is Isopure 0 carb Cookies and cream' date=' I mix it w/ Water and a table spoon of flavored sugar free pudding or w/ soy vanilla milk. Its good. But what is the cheese sauce you are talking about ?[/quote']powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury has come out with a cheese flavored Protein powder. I haven't seen it in person but according to the website, it is like the cheese sauce in a box of mac. & cheese. It has 20+ grams of Protein per serving and you can use it as a dip, pour it over veggies or whole wheat Pasta. My nutritionist sais it is salty to the taste but I would like to see for myself.
Will be ordering once I can start to eat again.

I can get Unjury in a local store but they don't carry the cheese sauce. I will have to order it direct.
My local nutrition store only has vanilla, chocolate and strawberry.
When I get the cheese sauce, I will let you know.

As for pain from the incisions. Don't be afraid, they only last a couple of days. You will do fine.

Mike' date=' I agree men don't care where they pass there gas!!! Lol.
How r you? Have u been up walking?[/quote']
Very good, thank you. My smarter half had be up and around most of the day today. Walked around costco and did some shopping. It wasn't difficult walking past the people hawking samples. I find it hard to believe that the last time I put a piece of solid food in my mouth was 5 days ago and I'm not hungry nor do I have any cravings. Honestly, it is a strange feeling.

Thats what I am scared of the pain but more so the gas pains... Yes it is very much so worth it... U rest and please take care of ur self....
The gas pains can be bad. Get some Gas-X strips, they will help.
This is one area where being a man makes this easier. Men usually don't care about gas. Women will hold it for days so as not to embarass themselves. Let it go...you will feel better. LOL

Good morning to my fellow partners in crime.
Everything went well and my new life starts today.
Very little pain, liquid diet consisted of coffee, vegetable broth, apple juice and runny jell-o.
Thanks for all the kind words and putting up with my sick sense of humor. Congrats to my fellow bandsters already done this month. Your stories of how your procedures went were very inspirational and kept me from getting cold feet.

Yay Mike!!!! *waves frantically* You made it friend! Thank you for taking the time to say hello and updating all of us! Get some rest' date=' and take good care of yourself![/quote']
Hard to rest in hospital. Nurses in every hour checking on me. Pre-surgery strange food cravings and narcotic pain meds make strange dreams.
Was dreaming I was piloting a flying saucer that was a giant cheeze pizza!! Almost makes me afraid to go back to sleep.. LOL
Good night.

I think it's a bit easier to deal with holiday meals and Cookies while still healing and sore' date=' it's easier to pass up. come next year I'll have created good habits and can make better decisions and not give in to temptation.[/quote']
Good for you. Forming good habits has been the hardest part. Holiday food doesn't really have much effect on me. My biggest problem is that stupid Food Network. Diners, Drive-ins and Dives has some of the most unhealthy stuff one can put in one's mouth.
Unfortunately, if it tastes good, it probably isn't good for you. LOL

Haven't been here in a while. I am from December 2012. Anyway, I was banded a year ago today. 81 pounds later, consistent and steady. I feel better, look better and have made significant ant improvement in my blood pressure and cholesterol. A work in progress.
Don't be afraid. This will be one of the best decisions you ever make.
