  1. When I first started my journey, I was nervous that I'd be the only person to fail at this. My fears are gone & I'm thankful everyday that I had my surgery. If you have fears, it's ok. It's ok to question everything, but it's more important to believe in yourself. With that belief, you will accomplish!

    Surgery date: 11-5-12

    Surgery weight: 286

    Current weight: 183

My goal weight is 150... So happy it's 33lbs away instead of 136lbs away!

  2. I have not had a drink yet and I'm a month post op I really am not missing it:) can I get some stories on how people did after there first drink and how they felt ? Thanks

Sent from my iPhone using VST

I was sleeved in Nov. 5 & had my first glass of wine on Thanksgiving.... So just a few weeks later. I was completely fine... Moderation is key.

  3. I have a friend who had bypass in 2005, & she has beautiful thick hair. I was complaining that my hair has become so thin due to Hair loss & asked her if she went through it. She said her hair got very thin, & her hairdresser recommended Nioxin Shampoo, & she said it worked wonders for her. She said she had to order it online as it's not a Walmart supply. I'm ordering it today!!! I want my thick hair back!

  4. I also have the mirena, & everything was fine. It was after my surgery that things got crazy. I hadn't had a period in four years, but I'm having them now :(... With spotting between periods. I've also seen posts on here regarding effectiveness of iud's after surgery... Some women have gotten pregnant ;(

  5. Before my sleeve surgery, I hadn't had a period in 3 years due to my IUD. Since my surgery, I've had monthly periods with spotting between periods. I understand that estrogen is stored in our fat cells, and as we lose weight, estrogen is released. Will I be enduring crazy periods & spotting until I hit goal & start maintaining??? I'm tired of the "surprises." Anyone relate to this?? Also, I'm nervous about the effectiveness of my IUD.... Do I talk to my gyno or my surgeon?

  6. Every once in awhile, I eat something, and it's out of my system in less than an hour by diarrhea. Yesterday, it was a shrimp ceviche (no crackers & it wasn't that citric) that did it to me. I wonder how many calories are absorbed when that happens? Anyone have similar experiences or know???

  7. Those with Dr Atkinson:

How soon after your consult did you get your surgery date? Jessie said ill meet with a surgery coordinator after my appt but I'm trying to work around the timeline of everything. Especially since I'm paying cash...

I think mine was about 2 weeks. I payed in cash as well, & it seemed like process was very quick. I started seriously pursuing the process in September & had surgery early November. BEST thing I've ever done!
