40.4 total weight loss
MandaMom23 replied to newmeva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's great!! Congrats! -
I was told 4-6 weeks. I'll be going in for my first in 2 weeks (I'll be 6 weeks out).
-
I too get the shoulder pain if I eat too much, which is nice considering the band is empty. I'm constantly having to remind myself to slow it down!
-
Today for some reason my head hunger has been unreal!! Nothing I'm eating is making me feel satisfied. I've been doing sooo well, so I don't know what's different about today. I'm happy tomorrow I get to move foward to soft foods, maybe that will help some of this!

How's everyone doing? I'm now one month post op, and feeling great! I've lost 12lbs since my surgery, which I'm totally thrilled with! Tomorrow I go in to see the nutritionist and will finally get to move on to soft foods...although I've been doing really well on pureed foods. I'll get my first fill in 2 weeks I'd love to hear some updates!

Significant Weight Loss?
MandaMom23 replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 4 weeks out today, and have lost 10lbs since my surgery day (23lbs since my pre op diet)...I'm very happy with that! I track every single thing that goes into my mouth...but I've been doing that for a couple of years now so that's easy for me. I did have about a week and a half in there where I didn't lose anything, but I knew I was doing everything right so I didn't worry too much. -

Awesome!! Congrats! -
I'm so sorry your dad isn't being supportive. I think you're right in saying that he has his own issues he needs to work out. Have you sat down and talked with him about how all this makes you feel? Maybe he doesn't actually realize he's doing it. I was very selective with who I told about my surgery, and only a few people know. I'm assuming you live with your parents, if so, of course you had no choice but to tell them. I just didn't/don't need to hear any negative about my decision. I didn't even tell my parents until 3 weeks prior to my surgery (I knew my surgery date for 2 months!!). My inlaws don't know, and may never know. They were so negative when I told them last year I attended an informational meeting about weightloss surgery. We're all here to support you, and we all know where you're coming from. Hugs to you!

Congrats!! You'll keep feeling better and better every day!

-
Good luck tomorrow to: Booyah!!!, NurseKelly, and Frederic!!

Congrats Linda! Glad to hear all went well!

First, congrats on moving on to full liquids I only had to be on clear liquids the day I came home from the hospital, and started full liquids the next day. From what I've read, burping is totally normal. I burp a lot now, sometimes it's embarrassing because it'll come out of no where! I also get a single 'hiccup' sometimes when I'm finished eating.

Good luck tomorrow to: Anxiously waiting! We'll be thinking of you! Let us know how it goes!

I really like Unjury classic chocolate!

My dr said 2 weeks, so that's what I took off. I personally couldn't have gone back in a week as I was still pretty sore, and felt worn out...but everyone is different.

That's fantastic!! Keep up the great work! -
I wonder way there are so many different pre- op diets?
MandaMom23 replied to Mrs.LadyPrice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor requires it to shrink the liver. It's easier for them to do the surgery since they have to move around it to place the band. For me personally, the 2 weeks on liquids prior also helped to prepare me for the liquid phase after surgery. -
Throw that scale away!!!
MandaMom23 replied to JhonnieB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think as long as you're in the right mindset, and KNOW that the scale is not going to go down every single day, the scale can be a good, helpful thing! I personally find weighing myself everyday helps me stay on track, and it has also helped me get to know my body. -
Good luck tomorrow to Mrs.LadyPrice and Cindy2013!!! We'll be thinking of you! Please keep us updated with how it goes!

I haven't heard anything either. Hopefully all is well and she's just resting up!
