    leaving

When we give up the food we learn ,often the hard way, about all those emotions we covered up by eating. Some people need therapy as well as weight loss surgery.

    Post op Dizziness

Had this for a few days about 2 weeks after surgery. It went away and PA said it could be my body adjusting to sudden weight loss and the body wanting to move as it did before the loss, but not ready for the shift in body size. I still get it after a weight drop of 5 to 7 pounds, then I adjust and am ok.

    Stuck question

It took me 8 months to get stuck. Have had 3 in the last 3 months after I hit the green zone good and green that is. I get the stuck from Hell type. Slim like a rabid dog and I wish somebody would put me out of my misery when it happened. Have figured out that if I stop eating after the first hiccup and wait a few minutes then I am ok,but I have to watch out or I spend hours in the bathroom wishing I could die.

    Lapband for my brain!

Totally agree. If I did not have my lap band support groups from my surgeon and OA for help the band would be of little help for me. 9 months and nealy 90 pounds given away. It works if I work it.
  5. 14 pounds in 9 months does seem slow. I had 2 cc at surgery and now 9 months later have 6 cc in 10cc band. Each of us is different. Restriction is in the band as well as the mind for me. I had to tell myself that I was restricted from the start even though it took nearly 6 months to see green. Have given away nearly 90 pounds. Best of luck

    Sneezing

Did it for the first week or so when I ate, but has stopped lng ago.
  7. I noticed this about two weeks ago. It lasted for a few days and has gone away. I too cross my legs a lot.
  8. Never had badster hee. Got 22 cc in my 10cc band at surgery and now have 6 and all is green. 9 months and 80 pounds down. Why should there be pain when eating? Only time I have any pain is when I eat too fast or get somnething stuck and thatn has happened 2 times in 9 months.

    Phase 2 diet

I assume you are on the mushy diet? I ate 2 oz 5 times per day and never had hunger. Do you have any fluid in the band?
  10. Hope the little bastard is gone. It took me 8 and 1/2 months before I got a stuck. It lasted 6 hours and I felt like a rabid dog, foaming, coughing wanting to barff and could not. No more Jenno turkey franks for me. When it comes to cupcakes I try to remember the old saying, "a moment on the lips, forever on the hips." I guess in our case it would be moment on the lips hours in the band. does not rhyme but you know what I mean.
  11. Want an old man's opinion? Do you research, check out more than one doctor. Ask all the questions you can, and then make a decision. If the doctor or doctors you interview with have support groups for their patients ask if you can attend. Where I had my surgery allows the preoperative patients to come to the support groups to hear first hand the experiences of the different surgeries. Our groups are for all of the surgery our doctor offers, by pass, lap band and sleeve. We all have a different story but are working for the same results. Outside support is good too. This could be therapist that deals with people with weight loss and food issues, or programs such as overeaters anonymous that offer support for eating problems. Lots of luck in your journey. I have had my band for almost 9 months and have given away about 80 pounds. Would do it again.
  12. I too had my surgery in Feb and got my first stuck this week. It lasted for about 6 hours and I would have given anything if I could have thrown up. Did every trick in the book and all I got was a bunch of white slime. Even tried lying upside down over the edge of the bed hoping that by being upside down the food would move. It didn't. Will never try turkey franks again.
  13. Had the same as carolinagirl and if we had not been on opposite coasts I would have thought we had the same doctor. I was told the same. I too spent a few nights in a recliner after surgery but on night 3 or 4 I was able to go to bed without too much pain. It seems if you have plication there is less chance of a slip issue with the band.

    having that stuck feeling?

Had my first stuck episode in 8 months. It lasted from 4pm to 10pm and I wanted to die. I feel for those who get these often. Learned I can't eat turkey franks. Have not other thing that is an issue yet. If it happens again I will try the salt water idea.

Confused on what surgery to have

It seems that the sleeve is going to overtake lap bad for most surgeons. The sleeve is prefered for the really overweight as it works faster and there is less aftercare. When I am getting that needle stuck into my port and belly ever 6 weeks I some what jokingly say to the PA, "this is when I wish I had a sleeve or bypass." The drawback is that the sleeve can't be removed as the band can.

Port area pinching on and off

Almost 9 months out and 90 pounds given away. I too have had a slight pinch near the port if I don't sit up straight and lean to the left a little too much. My 4th grade teacher was right. She used to tell us to sit up straight it was not good to slouch. It took me 55 years to understand what she meant.

    should I feel my port?

Almost 9 months and 80 pounds given away and I really feel my port. Have appointment tomorrow for fill. May not get one as I am seeing green where ever I look, but having issue with port and pants belt line rubbing. Hope I do not need to have port relocated. Just love my band till death do us part!

    NSV: the one day clothes

Still don't know my size. Was XL and some XXL 9 months ago. Bought L shirt last week and got it home and I could put an average 12 year old kid inside with me. Guess I'm a M now. Love the Happy Dance cat too.
  19. Walk as much as you can. I was in pain for about a week and walked and sometimes just standing up helped too. I even took a cane with me for my first few walks incase I wanted to stop and rest. It takes awhile, but will be all better soon.

    Lapband with plication

Sorry to hear you have such problems. Hope you went back to hospital and everything is better by now. I guess I am one of the lucky one with no problems after surgery and I have plication and after 8.5 months have dropped nearly 75 pounds. Best of luck.
  21. I get one every 6 weeks. May skip next weeks fill, but will go to appointment to talk with PA as I am seeing green everywhere I look. 8 months and nearly 90 pounds given away. Don't know, or care who picks it up, but I gave it away.
  22. Never pass on a fill until you are in the green zone. Took me 4 post op fills to get into the green. 8 months 90 pounds and loving it.

    Weight loss?

1-2 pounds per week is good. I was 6 months in when I slowed to 1 and did that for a couple of months, but have picked up to 2 now. Nearly to the goal only 16 pounds to go. Have never been this close in my life of dieting. Then I have to learn to maintain. That will be an all new journey down Bandster Lane for me. Usually maintain for about 3 hours before gaining starts.

    Fresh out of surgery.

The first few days are the worst. Walk as much as you can. Start slowly and build up and soon you will be doing 2 or 3 miles per day. Best of luck on your journey down Bandster Lane!
  25. So, sorry to here of your loss. Cherish his memory.
