Losing weight but no fun to be around.....

You are feeling your emotions. Something we don't feel when we overeat. We often overeat to cover up the emotions. Anger will come out, happiness will come out, and all those darn emotions we used to cover with food. Just let them come. If you feel that they are overwhelming you might want to see someone professional to get some help with them. Overeaters Anonymous is great for dealing with the emotional side of weight loss. We discuss emotions all the time at meetings. Best of luck.

    Quick question...Myth or Fact?

My doc would not give me a fill before a flight, but even 8 weeks after the fill I got a bit tight. Nothing painful, but I stayed on liquids the rest of the day and was fine the next day. Did hear of a lady who flew to Chicago from Seattle and could not eat or drink anything for 3 days. Don't really know if that was true. Just don't get a fill prior to takeoff and you should be ok. I know of a flight attendant with a band and she has no problems.

    My furry son is dying

So sorry to hear of you pending loss. I too had to have a pet put to sleep about 4 years ago and I keep her pic on my computer so when I open my computer there she is. I had Cleo (a cat) for 14 of her 16 years and never knew I could become so attached to an animal. The day I came home and found her unable to get up from under the desk I nearly died myself. I hope that maybe by now your pet has gone one to a better place. I have been told animals don't go to heaven, but I don't believe it. He will be there waiting for you someday. Just remember, don't eat over the pain. It won't do you or your band any good. Cry and feel the pain dear and it will pass in time.

    Is green for everyone?

You guys that get 1 to 1.5 cups of food make me jealous. I get 1/3 cup 4 times per day. I am in the green so this does satiate, but I have a tendency to finish off the 1/3 cup and sometimes get a little too full. Up to 6 cc in 10cc band and think I am there as there has been a pick up in weight loss in the last 2 weeks.

    Not smart to

I watch the Chew and try to figure out how to make the food low cal, carb, etc. I just watch the people and not the food. Never thought of it as Food Porn, but maybe tlbutler is correct.

    Is my surgeon right?

Not sure where your doc is coming from, but I have been banded 8.5 months and nearly 80 pounds down. No pain with broccoli, except in trying to spell it, lettuce I cut it up and chew and down it goes with no problem. I know someone who has issues with lettuce with her sleeve and another with the band. I don't really believe that if there is no pain the band is not working. If people had to suffer the pain would we not have these things removed. The only stuck incident is when I did not cut the meat small enough and did not chew it enough. I had no sooner swallowed and said to myself, OH, S$%&t! Stood up, and jumped up and down and walked around for about 5 minutes and it cleared. No vomiting and only one slimming incident, which was my own fault! Ate too fast! Best of luck!

    Im having a meltdown

I totally agree with the ladies above. You might seek outside counseling for the loss of the pregnancy and at the same time find a therapist that can also help with the weight loss issue to help you get back on track. My heart goes out to you and I really wish you all the best.
  9. I had a great Anesthesiologist as she gave me drip that made me not really care but I know what was going on. Then after I got into the OR and in position she gave me the big stuff. Have no idea what happened then but woke up sometime in the afternoon.

    I can eat

I had surgery in 2/13 and after liquid and mushie weeks I started slowly and was able to eat anything as long as it was proper bite size and portion. Started out with 2cc at surgery, 6 weeks later added 2cc, then 10 weeks later .5 and then 6 weeks after that .5cc. I am now in green zone eating anything and losing slowly but with no problem except for the two I caused myself. One time I got stuck with a piece of meat I did not cut small enough or chew enough. No sooner swallowed and said OOPS! Then I had a slimming incident last week when I ate when my mind was hungry and not my stomach. All I can say about that is ICKY! Live and learn one day at a time.
  11. I have a friend with Ruen Y bypass (not sure of spelling) another with sleeve and both are doing great. I am doing great with band. If I were to do it again I might select bypass due to the maintenance issue that bansters have vs bypass/sleeve. Fewer trips back to the doctor and needle int he tummy every 6 weeks or so. Happy with my band, all surgeries have issues. Also, if we don't follow the dr's orders any of us can have a problem.
  12. This is a new adventure for you. You lost 8.5 in 2 weeks is great so if you lose 2 by your next appointment it will be a step in the right direction. As far as those "forbidden" foods, the only thing I can suggest is that when you see or think of them try this, "that is not my food for today!" One day at a time is much easier than one lifetime at a time, because you have done this for a lifetime of health and happiness. Best of luck.
  13. Only if asked. I do the same with overeaters anonymous. I let people know I am a member and if they want more information I share my story which now includes my lap bad. Was at an OA weekend convention and had not seem some of these people in a year or two. So had lots of fun talking about my new "food sponsor" Audry who was installed by my surgeon. I told them Audry told me when to eat and how much and gave me warning signs if I over did it. We had a lot of laughs.
  14. 2 cc at surgery, 2cc at first fil, 1 cc, then .5cc at last two fills and I am seeing green. Maybe have to have one more before I reach that every elusive goal.

    Spouse is NOT on board.....

These people are trained to do this so they make more money by you coming to the gym. I had the same experience at a supplement store pre surgery. I have not shopped there since although I like their products. Do what you need to do for yourself, but the gym along with wls could be the answer. Best of luck.

    time between fills?

My instructions were 4 to 6 weeks between fills. Had 2cc at surgery and 2 cc in six weeks. Went back 6 weeks later but did not get a fill due to an upcoming plane trip. Glad I did not fill then as band did tighten on the flight to Tucson, not badly, but I drank protein shakes all the next day. So went about 10 weeks for next fill and have been doing .5cc every 6 weeks for a total of 4 fills in 6 months. Will go back 6 weeks after last fill and maybe won't have to have fill as I feel everything is nice and green right now. Best of luck and don't be to worried about the hunger and eating every 2 to 3 hours a few ounces at a time. That is normal until you get enough fill and get into the green zone.

    name your lapband?

Audry after the man eating plant in the musical "Little Shop of Horrors." He line in the play is "Feed Me!" when she gets hungry. When my Audry makes any gurgling sounds I know it is time to feed her. Then she eats a little says "thank you that will be enough." If I over feed she says "that is enough thank you, one more bite and I will send it back!" I know then it is time to stop feeding Audry.

    Drinking when eating...

I too have this issue. Won't increase weight loss, but you will remain fuller longer as the liquid will not wash out the food from the pouch.

    Antidepressents?

I take a drug for Bi polar II. It is a form of bi polar but not a serious as BP I. It is a large pill but I can break it into two pieces and it goes down ok. Take one half with a little water and wait for a few minutes and take second half. Do the same with by B 100 complex and have not issues.
  20. 7 months out and I do this too. Loose and maintain, loose and maintain. Your doing great. Keep up the good work. Your dietitian can help with the food intake suggestions and the weight will be falling off soon.
  21. "Hot as fish grease!" love it! I always said I had an hour glass figure, but all my sand was stuck in the middle! Sounds like you are doing great. Just love to go clothes shopping in my closet don't you?

What's on your goal bucket list?

Ball room dance lessons. Western, Eastern swing and the Lindey should help keep some of the weight off.
  24. One stick in 7 months post op. Was eating a turkey frank and did not cut it up small enough and then did not chew well and swallowed and had a stuck. Did not PB or slim but was uncomfortable for about 30 minutes. Got up and walked around until it went through. Was not thinking. This AM ate one half of a strawberry and thought it was going to stick, but it went through ok but I had to stop eating for about 3 minutes until I was sure it was down.

    I Cried!!!

Great job. I sometimes get to obsessed with getting weighed. I need to put the scale out in the garage and go get it once every 2 weeks. Best of luck.
