  1. Alicelopes- Have you had surgery yet? I had surgery about 4 weeks ago with a BMI of 31 and the same issues as you. So far I have no regrets!

Sunshine girl how have you been?

Hi Alicelopes, I apologize I haven't been on here in a few years. How has your progress been?

I was really happy with my band I had lost over 42 pounds and was almost to my goal weight when I ended up in the ER 2 weeks ago and they told me they had to due an emerency surgury to remove my band..... I was devistated. It has been a really rough 2 weeks, they pumped me with so much Fluid I came home from the hospital 25 lbs heavier, 15 has come off the other 10 has not and I am thinking it is no longer Water weight because I can eat completly normal again. I am determined not to gain it back but it is going to be an up hill battle.

  2. The last 2 weeks have been hell. I had to have an emerency band removal due to slippage. I was banded in 2012 and had my band removed (not by choice) on March 17th, 2015. They pumped me with some much Fluid I came home from the hosiptal 25 pounds heavier and ended up back in the ER a day later becuse I couldnt breath. Most of the Water weight has come off 2 weeks later but now I can eat completly normal. Even with monitoring my calories and exercise I am up 10lbs. The whole thing has been really depressing and I am worried about regaining all my wight without the band even though I am determined not to.

  3. Hi There,

I was banded a few weeks ago and so far so good. I started out with a BMI of 31 and I was just wondering if any other low BMI banders have had good weight loss results with the band? So far things are going great and I am so happy I got banded but just wanted to see how things are going for people in the long term? I had my first fill a week ago still and have not found the happy green spot as of yet.

    Thanks!

  4. Hey guys just joined and looking for advice :)

I have struggled with my weight for years with it constantly fluctuating up and down - diet going well for a few weeks and then it all falls apart, weight piles back on, the usual.

This cycle has been going on for years and I am now at my heaviest having joined a workplace where there is free food and Snacks everywhere - and free all you can eat lunches with delicious food. This does not go so well for me, I have no willpower - however I know I could work with the bad.

My self confidence is really low right now as I cannot seem to keep weight off (even though I can lose it and have done a few times, it is not maintainable for me and as this has been going on for years it seems conventional methods are really failing me.

So I am looking into lap band surgery and I think it is something I want.

The only issue I have is that my BMI is 30.5 which seems to be pretty low for the surgery from what I have read. I am classified in the Obese category on the BMI scale but I think I have found a surgeon who will perform the surgery at BMI 30.5.

My question is do you guys think it is too drastic for my BMI? I would be aiming to lose 50-60lbs post surgery from 200 at 5'8".

I really feel this may be the right thing for me to do but just want input from others.

Also do the results tend to be good for a low BMI band?

Any thoughts on the matter appreciated!

    Thanks!

I don't think you are crazy for wanting to get the surgery. I had surgery 4 weeks ago and a BMI of 31, I did research for 2 years before I decided to go through with it. No Matter if you have a BMI of 45 or a BMI of 30 we all struggle with the same issue. It is not an easy fix and you really do have to follow the bandlife style but I am glad I made the decision to do it! Good Luck!

  5. I have to a low bmi 31.9, and I'm going to surgery, I have struggled with my weight since I was 11. I am now 21 and I believe in prevention as I believe in cure. I don't want to be 31 and then wishing I done this surgery 10 years ago. I am a very motivated person but when dieting hard I seem to get stuck on 11st6 and it won't go down which is frustrating. I am 5ft1 and my 12st4 weight doesn't belong to me!!! I would though suggest that you are mentally prepared for the changes on your diet, because the band ain't a miracle but a tool. A tool that I need the help to succeed, and with my determination I know I will. In uk people with 30 bmi over are allowed this surgery but self pay.

Hope you make the right decision for you
