  1. Happy Birthday, Megs! Enjoy your dinner. Glad you are doing good. Welcome, Emme! We are always glad to visit with other Okies. I will be going to Mexico too, if my insurance denies me. But, I am keeping my fingers crossed. The surgeons office doesn't think I will have a problem. I'm just worry a bunch. Which doctor and city did you decide on in Mexico? I did lots of research, too. But, I still was scared to death I would make the wrong decision on surgeon down there. Glad you jumped in here. Good luck to you....
  2. I met with Dr. Katsis yesterday. They are tentatively scheduling my surgery for Feburary 21st. Dr Katsis is not going to be there on the 26th. So, I started my preop diet this morning. I won't quite get in 2 weeks on it, but that's ok. Lol......They are sending to insurance Monday. Sure hope I'm not doing this preop diet for nothing. Wish me luck. Are you guys doing good?
  3. I am lucky to get to stay at home too. My hubby is at American Airlines. I just thought that maybe they worked for the same place. Yes, I am so happy for all of us. I am just on pins and needles until I know I am approved. I will keep you updated. Maybe someday we will all have to get together and share a meatball or something. Lol.......
  4. I will do that Friday, thanks for the reminder!!
  5. Molliec, what employer do you have your insurance through? You can PM me if you don't want to say on here. I just wonder if we have the same one. Thanks.......
  6. Thanks girls! I hope it works out. I have invested so much time in this, as has everyone else. Lol....I will know a surgery date Friday. I think it will probably be set for the 26th. I will go on the 2 week pre-op diet before i even know about insurance approval. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I will let you know!
  7. I am from Northeast Oklahoma. I am going to Bailey Medical in Owasso.
  8. I am just Nervous Nellie! They will submit to UHC on Friday once I'm finished meeting with Dr Katsis. The requirements on my UHC is "documented diagnosis of MORBID obesity for 5 years". I wouldn't be considered "morbidly" obese all that time. My bmi's are 36.1, 39.1, 39.6, 40.9, 41.2. I'm sure hoping they don't give me trouble with my bmi not being over 40 for 5 years. Anyone else have to work around a requirement? What do you think my chances are of getting them to approve with this. I do have a diagnosis of sleep apnea, too. I feel about sick just worrying about it.
  9. Megs! You are doing fantstic! Wow! I went today to my final dietician. I go friday to see Dr. Katsis. They are pushing to get me in February, but I dont know if the cards are going to fall right, it may have to be the second week of march because of committments I have. They only do surgeries on tuesdays. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed though. Good luck with it guys! ! Nice to talk to you again.....
  10. I am definately going to try the Unjury brand. I can do the unflavored and chicken broth alot better than the sweet ones. I am just going to make sure that insurance approves me before I buy any. I'm just trying to get my "ducks in a row". Thanks for the info!!
  11. I don't have a surgery date yet, but meet with the surgeon next week to set a date. My biggest fear in this is not the surgery, it's finding a protein I will be able to do. I have read some many things saying that they are so sweet, or they are fruity. I could do a fruity one a day, but not the super sweet stuff. I feel nauseous thinking about having to drink something like that on a daily basis. I have to find one with the least flavor to add to whatever I'm drinking. Please, any suggestions. Let me know what you vets have found to be the best for you. I've got to get this figured out, soon! Thank you!
  12. So sorry this is happening to you. The attitude of your surgeon is unbelieveable. Hopefully your primary care doctor will get some answers.
  13. I had mine done this past Saturday night. Yes, Redcardinal, that is still the way it is done. I don't sleep good anywhere but home. But, they hooked up sensors to my head, face, one on each side of my chest and two on each leg (for leg movement). I could sleep on my side, but had trouble going to sleep. After an hour, they put the cpap on me the tested me with it for a while. It was very simple. I would think that all dr's should test this, especially since it is important to how you do under anesthesia and how you awake after it. I was ready to go home and get some sleep. Lol......
  14. Thanks Stacie73, I will probably need some good luck. They said my Dr. does the stress test on everyone. Lucky me, huh??? Lol...
  15. Yes. I have already done that.
  16. Yes. I have already done that.
  17. Thanks for all the advice! I feel better now.
  18. Ok, thank you. I hope I don't keel over........
  19. I go tomorow for a treadmill stress test. I am scared to death I will have trouble with it. You know, it's not like I'm thin and in great physical shape....Can anyone give me their experience with it if it is something you had to do? Thanks....
  20. I will keep you posted. Dr Lewis is really nice. It probably won't take me 12 minutes. My heart picks up speed just thinking about it. Lol.....
  21. Not yet. I do the sleep study tomorrow night. I do the treadmill and echo next week. Then my last dietician and finally surgeon of feb 8th. Then submit to insurance. What sucked about the treadmill. Give me a heads up on whats going to happen. I'm old and fat and don't exercise so I hope they dont kill me that day. Lol.....
  22. Good for you. I go on the 23rd for the treadmill test and echocardiogram. Did you do those test, too?
  23. Congratulations!!! All your hard work payed off. Hang in there and let us know your progress. Again, congrats!!
  24. I have UHC also. My policy requires 5 years of weight history. I didn't hit 40 bmi until 2012. I have all the years recorded with my pcp. The lowest I have is 36.1. The nurse practicioner in my surgeons office said she did not see a problem with approval. The insurance company wants to make sure that you have had a weight problem for a while and that you didn't weight 150 pounds a couple of years ago and gained a bunch recently. But, you need someone to fight for you at the surgeon's office. You may be denied at first, but they need to fight for you. If nothing else the surgeon needs to write a letter on your behalf. Hang in there. Keep fighting for yourself. Let me know how it turns out.
