  1. banded 12/17/12. So, my surgeon ordered me to go to the ER last night, after almost a full week of sharp shooting pain on my side and left shoulder. The 1st doctor who read my upper GI blurts out "your band slipped, and is in a vertical position." After an intense panic attack and a shot of ativan comes another doctor, explaining my band did NOT slip, but that my stomach above and below the band is "very floppy" and extending out past the band (?!)...then he says I have a ridiculous amount of gas in my stomach, and that's what's causing the pain...also, based on what I've been feeling lately, I think I may be lactose intolerant...I've heard alot of people having this after lap band surgery....why?!
  2. But EVERYDAY for 4 years?! Wow, I know I couldn't handle that!
  3. I've been having random shoulder pain too...it needs to go away!!
  4. Thank you all so much! You have been so helpful. I did call my nutritionist last week to discuss my concerns with her. She wants me tracking everything I eat this week, so she can look it over and guide me in the right direction. She said she was concerned my body was going into starvation mode, and my body would retain the weight! But how come some people can have such low calories and lose, while others retain the weight?! It's just hard because people in the beginning would shower me compliments everyday, now that the loss has slowed, it's really bothering me. But you're right, I have to shift my focus and make healthy eating, water intake and exercise a priority!
  5. Im certainly not consuming 3500 calories..Im barely consuming 1000....I'm just confused by the numbers.....grr
  6. Thank you! I used to use the powders, but something inside me can't stand the muss and fuss of the blender anymore! Im doing muscle milk light and atkins shakes now, but i love having half a days protein in one drink! Now I just need this stabbing port pain to go away! 3 straight days now...
  7. This topic is frustrating my whole world right now. I can barely get in 800 calories..and was so ticked off when my loss slowed...and the nutritionist said Im going into starvation mode, and my body will hold on to the weight...so overwhelming
  8. I stayed in the soft food phase longer than most because I had some complications....I'm kinda still in it now..my port is also acting up..very painful, so it hurts to move..calling dr. tomorrow...get protein, but I find it SO challenging to get 20 g per meal! How do you do it?! I also don't eat land animals, I only eat fish...so I have to get creative to get in the protein..as soon as this stabbing in my side goes away...I'll start exercising.
  9. Im eating suuuper healthy, Im so proud of myself....but I can never get in the 1200 calories...I feel so.stuffed!! It baffles me how I lost so much weight on the 2 week liquid diet....but began eating, consuming LESS calories, and the loss slowed
  10. I'm struggling because I'm about a month out, and my nutritionist said I'm not eating enough. In my mind, I don't want to eat. I had such rapid amount of decent weight loss in the very beginning, and now it's slowing, and making me crazy! I'm not hungry, and when I do eat, I feel wrong and guilty....I want to lose fast like I did in the beginning...
  11. I definitely use smaller utensils...I have super tiny forks I got when I lived in Korea. The US children's utensils are designed weird to me. But the little fork has helped me SO much!
  12. Thank you so much!! I feel the same sensations...
  13. Oh my goodness...I'm so sorry you have to deal with all of this. I admire your positive attitude. So, they will take out the port but leave the band in? Good luck tomorrow.
  14. How did you know your port was infected? What symptoms did you have? My port area has been feeling weird. I hope you feel better!!
  15. Thanks... what did the pain feel like? How long did it last? Did anything alleviate the pain?
  16. Thank you...I feel it shooting upwards out from my port...it's just discouraging because I want to exercise, and now I'm scared! I also have been sleeping very restlessly lately, so I think I'm pulling it in my sleep...
  17. Banded 12-17-12. I'm having so much port pain as of yesterday, especially when I breathe in...I'm scared
  18. I noticed people are rude on here quite often, hence I don't participate as much as I used too.
  19. So...I got it, and I can't figure out how to put it together! Haha!!
  20. Banded 12-17-12. Besides my fitness pal, I'm curious what meal planning/calorie counting/cooking methods have worked best for you? As I progress, I feel the need to plan better....my nutritionist isn't so helpful in this particular department....any ideas?
  21. Didnt want to start a fight....just curious about carb cycling. Peace and love. Group hug?
  22. Hi! We were banded the same day! Congratulations on your weight loss!?
