  1. My Bmi is currently 37.1. I have horizon bcbs. According to the medical policy I printed from my plan in order to qualify with a Bmi between 35-40 I have to have atleast one comirbidity from about 15 listed. Out of the list I have 5. I have one more monthly supervised visit that they require left- I go in less than 2 weeks for my nutrition consultant and physchological eval. Then 2 days after for my last monthly visit. Just wonder if I will have a hard time with getting approved with the 5 comirbidities and Bmi under 40
  2. Has anyone had any experience with horizon bcbs? I am 6 weeks away from my last required 6 month supervised visits. I have a Bmi of 37.1 but have 5 comorbities. According to the 15 page medical policy- I have to have atleast 1 of a list of diagnosis and I have 5 off the list. Wondering about my success rate of being approved and how long it may take. My doctors office said they have 30 days to approve.
  3. Has anyone used dr sanborn in Chattanooga. I have originally been planning on using dr. Ponce but they charge a $1000 program fee that you must pay out of pocket along with your portion left from insurance. I find that a little much. But have wondered if anyone has used Dr. Sanborn.
  4. I have bcbs of nj-- my Bmi is 37.1 but I do have hypertension. (Right now my meds aren't controlling it) anyway they said with a Bmi of 35-40 I had to have atl east one co morbidity, which hypertension was one. Just worried that that won't be enough.
  5. Ok I have to ask the ones that got approved- what was your Bmi
  6. May 9th- hoping to get banded the week before memorial day
  7. Wow!! You look amazing:)) congrats!!!
  8. I started my journey in November. I was diagnosed with hypertension. Right now I am 5'6 and 230. I have been on meds since then. Last week I went for my 2nd month of my 6 supervised diet and my b/p was still high. He added a water pill but it concerns me that even being on these meds- it's still high.
  9. I just did my month 2:(
  10. You guys crack me up! I'm an office manager for a family practice and want to take the bear minimum off work. I have been trying to think of something that 1- would require that amount of time off and 2- would never not be able to have done again. ( like gallbladder- still have mine and if I say I'm having it removed and then something happens and I really do have to have it removed) I'm hoping to get mine the Wednesday before Memorial Day so I will have an extra day off in there. Still doing my 6 months required by insurance:(
  11. Thx for the suggestions:) I'm waiting now- I know i have to do 6 months of supervised diets with my insurance- gonna be a long 6 months. There is just so much to ask sometimes u dont know where to start. The port has been a concern for me. I couldn't tell u why- I just keep thinking about it in the back of my mind.
  12. I go for my consult with the dr tomorrow. I feel like there is so much to address that I don't even know where to start. Is there anything that you guys wish u would have asked or found helpful to know?
  13. That made me laugh:) bet the look will be priceless.
  14. I go for my band consult Tuesday and will address this as well. I need to know for insurance purposes if there is anything I need to be working on
  15. This has been something I have wondered. If I have surgery on a Thursday what are the odds I would be able to go back the next Tuesday. I'm an office manager at a medical practice so it won't be strenuous.
  16. I feel there is a stigma attached to it an that some view it as an easy way out. They do not understand that it's not only the surgery but that there is a commitment to special diets and exercise. It's just an extra tool to help. For me this has been a very personal decision. I have struggled with my weight for years an years. I have tried almost every diet and pill under the sun. I have been married to my husband for 16 years and he has never had to struggle with weight- he could eat a box of ho-ho's and lose weight. I have kept pretty quiet about my weight bothering me and he has never mentioned it. I got the nerve to approach him and talk to him about the surgery. He seems to be ok with it. I have stressed to him how I only want him and my parents to know. I hope he keeps my wish. I go for my consultation on Tuesday. I did the seminar several weeks ago. I hit a hiccup last week- my pcp won't write me a letter because she doesn't believe in weight loss surgery. So I'm gonna have to find a new pcp to help me.
  17. I can Attest to Cigna being difficult! Even with routine testing they make it difficult!
  18. I was just diagnosed with hypertension
  19. I can only account for 4 out of the last 5 years- I never went to the dr unless I felt like I was dying. I hope it doesn't hurt my chances
  20. I just left my pcp- I hate to even be happy about this but I have been diagnosed with hypertension. All I need is 1 according to my insurance and that was 1:)
  21. Just starting this journey and looking for a buddy:)
