  1. Thanks. It's sad I'm trying to find something wrong to qualify but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. My mom had gastric bypass 6 years ago. She was morbidly obese- diabetes- hypertension- -all sorts of stuff. I'm 35 and afraid if I don't get it under control I'm gonna wind up like that. I don't want to by any means.
  2. Ok- I went to the seminar for lapband. I have my official consultation december 4. I called our ins. They will cover it for Bmi >40 or between 35-40 with 1 co morbidity. I'm going to my Pcp Tuesday. I have been pretty healthy other than weight. I have horrible family history though. But as I'm looking at the list that might qualify me- I really think I might have sleep apnea. I have se real of the symptoms so I'm gonna talk to her about that. I know it sounds bad but I need to find something to help me qualify. My Bmi is 36.4.. Any suggestions?
  3. Lordy I have no clue- but as far as I'm concerned i saw no one! It was so funny- I had to drive 30 minutes to the next town for the meeting and its a big city- for them to be there same night same dr- was very odd
  4. I had one of the girls measure me at work today turns out I'm 5'6 not 5'8 which now makes my Bmi 36.4--who knew
  5. So I had to report and maybe give you guys a laugh. Went to the seminar and I got there 15 minutes late due to work, so I snuck in and took a seat in the back. Coming to the decision to do this was hard for me. The only people I want to know are my parents and husband. Maybe later I will want to tell others but for now that's it. So the humor is I'm sitting their listening to the dr and I get to looking at the back of this lady and it hits me- holy crap it's my husbands aunt and uncle. So now I start squirming. I was trying to think of how to get out without them seeing. So when people start asking questions about cost for self pay- I get my phone out and text my mom. Needless to say as soon as they were done talking I bolted out the back door and got in my car. Pretty sure I was unseen. I waited until I saw them leave then went in and scheduled my consultation. Some of you probably think that's crazy- but for me this is a very personal decision. And it is my decision. But anyway- got my consultation scheduled for December 4- that was their first available. Hope some of you we're able to chuckle:)
  6. Going to my seminar tonight:) excited to begin- hopefully it's a smooth 6 months:)
  7. Comorbities. Has anyone else experienced this? Not sure how good my chances will be.
  8. So I called my insurance and they cover it and I have to do the 6 month diet thing which is fine. I called to set up my consultation to get things going. I asked if they knew of the other requirements as the insurance could only tell me that I had to do the diet for 6 months. She said my Bri had to be greater than 35. Mine is exactly 35. I am borderline hypertensive. She said I would need to have a letter of medical necessity. She said usually of they if they have u do the 6 month diet they don't require u to have other comirbidioes
  9. Just starting. I talked to my insurance and they require 6 months but will cover at 90%. I'm 5'8 - 230lbs. Borderline hypertensive with a horrible family hx of htn, diabetes, among others. I'm hoping I don't have to put up a huge fight to get approved.
  10. I hear ya! Mine is 6'3 and 170
  11. Lol-- I make my husband keep the lights off- and if I'm on top don't think I don't wrap a sheet or something around my stomach! It sucks! I just want to be ale to let loose and not worry about what I look like!! And we have been married 16 years.
  12. I looked online. I don't think I'm looking over $2500 out of pocket and that's on the steep side. I have a $250 hospital deductible on top of that. My office co pays are $15 so I have started putting back. I have to do my 6 months so I have time.
  13. Me too! I told my mom yesterday. She had gastric bypass 8 years ago so she knows how I feel. I don't want to have gastric. Besides her and my dad- my husband is the only one I want to know. I'm embarrassed that I can't do it on my own.
  14. I'm in the same boat- just starting the journey. I have struggled my whole life. My youngest is 12 and I have never been able to get the weight off. While my husband never says anything about my weight I am extremely aware of it. I don't feel attractive in the least. It affects me in so many ways:( I am 5'8 at 230lbs. My biggest fear is the surgery Nd anesthia itself as well! I cannot stand to be put to sleep!
  15. I have finally made the decision to move forward with lapband. I have thought about it a lot and have decided to do it. Very nervous- tons of questions. Our insurance covers it at 90% so if I don't do it now- I don't think I ever will. Looking for support- tons of it:-)
  16. Anyone still around from chattanooga? Just starting my journey. This is something I have thought about for awhile and very nervous. Would love to have someone close by to talk to!
