  1. I've been avoiding coming on here because I can't seem to get a grip on my diet anymore! I've had two fills since surgery and now I'm at 4.5 cc in a 10cc band. I've had a hard time getting a grip since my birthday last week. I feel hungrier than I was when I had less in my band. I feel like I'm slowly losing control and I'm trying SO hard to hang on to this last strand of motivation and control. I guess I just needed to vent and put it out there. I hope I'm not alone...because I feel like I am.
  2. No. My insurance is run through my union but I called my insurance company and no preop diet was required
  3. You look stunning!!! HUGE difference!
  4. I used to live in Bergen County, now I'm right over the border in Rockland County (NY)
  5. Yep! I had 3cc's filled the day of surgery! I'm now at 4.5

  7. You are so beautiful! You inspire me!!

  9. I could understand what he means by that. I mean, knowing what size band you have could make you start comparing yourself to others with the same size band (they have 5cc you have 6, so where's your restriction sort of thing). However, I would also insist on finding out because this is something implanted in your body and you have every right to know every detail of this foreign object!
  10. My doctor said no NSAID's (ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, etc.) so I take Tylenol. Right after I was banded I used children's liquid Tylenol but now I'm able to use the regular pills.

  12. I've heard and asked someone who does those wraps directly how long the results last and she told me they'll last as long as you keep up with your diet and exercise.. then she followed that up with typically 4-6 months. Here's what I think- they work for temporary results. I'd use them before an event or something like that (I'm in a wedding in January and plan on using them just to feel better for that day only) but I would not use them as my main source of weight loss. Personally, I'd rather work towards my weight loss and get healthy than use those. Just my opinion.
  13. Wow. The responses are interesting. I sure hope i can get some feeling of restriction back! This stinks!!
  14. You mean you had your post-op appointment today, right? lol You're doing wonderful! My doctor doesn't allow Pasta, rice, bread, etc because it's too high in carbs, it will make you feel full only temporarily, and I also heard that it expands in your stomach which can cause it to get stuck. Why not try a substitute.. spaghetti squash is delicious!! I refused to give in to my "bad" cravings so early on because I didn't want to start up my bad habits again.
  15. I've noticed that rotisserie chicken (white meat only) gets stuck for me regardless of how much gravy or sauce I have to dip it in. I can have grilled chicken breast cut very small without any problems. I'm a dark meat fan but I've been eating white meat b/c it's less fattening. I guess dark meat it is!
  16. I haven't found my green zone yet, but I was banded on 2/6/13 with 3cc and had my first fill on 3/25 for a total of 4cc in a 10cc band. I still find that I am hungry and can eat more than my 3 oz of protein and 3 oz of veggies.
  17. I had my first fill last Monday (3/25) and I feel like I am hungrier now than I was before the fill. Has this ever happened to any of you? I'm not sure if it's because of the fill or my visit from Aunt Flo (sorry gentlemen)
  18. no, I didn't but I think it's just carbs because my NUT said I'll be getting my carbs strictly from the veggies, yogurt, etc I eat rather than other things that I would like to eat. I didn't bother asking. I figured it was smarter for me to do it that way
  19. Thank you! This is excellent!
  20. Good luck!! You'll be fine! It's easier than you're expecting
  21. I have a blog and love it. It's not public to my friends just people on here really but it's my place to let it lose and document every step of this journey. It's my online scrapbook and I'd be lost without it
  22. Yep! I was approved and I had my surgery on February 6!
  23. I didn't have an additional fee. I mean, I was charged office visits (my insurance and union are still working on paying those hopefully), but my copay was only $75. Check with your insurance to make sure that's a legit charge. As the above post states, it may just be your copay.
  24. Welcome to the boards! I find these boards to be so helpful to me for everything and anything! It really is like a family here and you're going to find endless support, encouragement, advice, and some tough-love! I'm 7 weeks post-op and my advice to you is to ask away! I feel that I got most of my answers from this board before I even had the chance to ask my doctor! Between this website and my own research, I felt pretty well prepared for what it was like to live the banded life! Best of luck on your journey! I look forward to watching your success!
  25. My NUT recommends 1-2 Snacks ONLY if necessary. For me, it's necessary. I incorporate it into my diet though. I usually eat Breakfast around 8:30, then I have my snack (Weight Watchers string cheese, yogurt, fruit, or something like that) around 10:30, I eat lunch around 12:30, and I usually have dinner around 5:30-6. For me, that works. If I didn't have my snack, I would probably binge after my lunch (as I have in the past). If you feel you are very hungry, have a snack. It may help take that edge off, it may help prevent you from binging or making poor choices later on, and in the end, it may help you with your success. Just make sure you count everything you eat and stay within your doctor's requirements. Talk to your NUT about your situation, maybe he/she can help re-evaluate your eating habits and help you make changes that will help you. Best of luck!
