- Post Op Food Phases?
Ok so my plan isn't far off. I have to find out when I'm allowed a full regular diet. Right now I'm not exercising at all but on Monday I'm going to start walking. My doctor recommended it during my follow up so I want to start.- Post Op Food Phases?
So I k ow thy every doctor is extremely different in how they want their patients to work with their LapBand, but I was just curious to know what's everyone's phases were in terms of post op eating. I do shakes for 2 weeks, soft foods for 2-4 weeks, then solids. I'm going to find out for sure but I think my doctor still wants us to do 2 shakes and 1 meal during the soft and solids stage. What does your doctor require?- Restaurant Card
I found some information on that. You should get it from your doctor. I never received one, but I wonder if I will once I'm allowed to eat solids. Here is the link http://www.lapband.com/en/live_healthy_lapband/the_first_weeks/patient_id_card/- Chewable Multi-Vitamin
I'm looking for recommendations for chewable multi vitamins. I'm not allowed gummies I need ones that dissolve (compare it to TUMS consistency). Any suggestions?- Hello mushies!
Congratulations! I can't wait to get to that stage! Enjoy your meals!!- Post Op Day 2
It was the same for me and I had my surgery 1 week ago today. Walking helped the most for me and lifting my arms above my head. Hang in there.- Official Frst Week Weight Loss!
thank you everyone! It feels great.. very empowering and making the hard times worth it!- Official Frst Week Weight Loss!
Today is one week that I've had my band and my official weight loss is 16lbs! I'm so excited!!- Protein shake flavorings and recipes?
- 6 days post op and almost fainted
Thanks everyone for responding! I talked to my doctor about it and he just said drink more water.. so yes, it did sound like dehydration a bit. I also told him I was grossed out seeing the incisions so he laughed and said it could have been a combination! Thanks for helping everyone- 6 days post op and almost fainted
Thank you everyone your your input and suggestions! I am going to my doctor tonight so I will mention it. I am drinking enough Water but it time for another Protein shake now. I also saw my staples for the first time today which make me nauseous anyway. But I'm definitely mentioning it to my doctor. Thanks everyone- 6 days post op and almost fainted
Im 6 days post op and I was just taking a shower and I started feeling weak and seeing dots so I got out and sat on the toilet for a minute. I went back in and my breathing started getting deeper and faster and my face felt cold and the dots got worse so I grabbed the towel and sat on the toilet and felt I was probably seconds from fainting and ran to my bed and laid down until I felt better. Has this happened to anyone? It was so scary!- Pulling sensation from port site/area
Ok good. You definitely just put me to ease. . Thank you!- laxative
I agree with the above posts... don't become dependent upon those. You may be having even more of a difficult time now simply because your body expects the laxative to do it's job for it. My doctor recommends milk of mag. also if you're having trouble having a bowel movement. Also, just like many have said, take a fiber supplement. Another thing is, are you staying hydrated and drinking enough? I've noticed in the past, pre band, that if I don't drink enough I have a very difficult time having a bowel movement.- Really sore!!!!
I'm 6 days postop and I am still somewhat sore. This is NORMAL I promise you! I was so sore for a few days.. yes, coughing and laughing were SO painful! Any movement was painful. This is ok. Just like the above post says, take your pain meds because it will take the edge off and stay hydrated. I had terrible gas pains and walking did help. Do what you can! I switched between sitting up in my bed and sitting in a chair to help. You'll get through this, don't you worry! Your port is sore because that incision is the main area where the band is inserted through (from what I've heard) and the port is in your muscle so any ab movements will move that a little. Just follow your doctors orders and give yourself time to heal and recover. Best of luck and welcome to the other side!- Chewable protein supplements?
I'm only 6 days post-op and I'm only on day 2 of my three Protein shakes a day and I'm ALREADY sick of the protein shakes! They actually make me nauseous when I drink them lol! I didn't know they had protein supplements so I'm going to look into that (Thanks for mentioning it). I also agree with the above post.. did your doctor tell you to continue on Protein Shakes even when you're allowed to eat food? You could also buy unflavored Protein powder to add to your meals for that extra boost! I've heard a lot of bandsters use- Morning Tightness?
Thank you everyone for all of your tips! I tried the warm Water thing yesterday morning and I do believe it helped! it actually felt quite nice feeling the warmth go down! I'm only 6 days post-op so I'm assuming I still have some swelling also? I don't know.. I am a little sore or sensitive above my port area underneath my left breast. Maybe I'm paranoid but I'm nervous- What do I need to stock up on for pre-surgery and post-surgery?
I was on Clear Liquids for the first five days so I had sugar free Popsicles, crystal lite, and low sodium broth (beef, chicken, and vegetable). My doctor did not allow me to have Jello because they considered it a solid food but I've talked to many people who were able to have that. Talk to your doctor and see what they recommend. I started Protein shakes today (I'm 5 days post op) so it's best to try some samples before hand if you haven't already. For Protein Shakes I got some Torani sugar free syrups to add for flavor. I'm not a fan of any protein shakes to be honest, but it's really just a matter of following your doctors orders so you can heal and move on to food. Also, make sure you have a Water bottle or something to be able to measure your water. I have a few water bottles that have measurements on them so I know how many I need to drink. I also was told to stock up on liquid tylenol for minor pain (you'll get the strong stuff from your doctor). I was told that gas-x won't help with gas pains so I didn't get that, but everyone is different! May I also suggest socks with grips on the bottom to help you walk and not slip at all and also a travel pillow or something that wraps around your neck while you sleep! Best of luck!!- Insurance Approved!!
What an exciting day!! Congratulations!- Ok I'm hungry...wait no I'm not..please help
I'm 5 days postop and I just started protein shakes today. I have no idea what any of the feelings I'm getting are. Are these rumbles in my stomach gas or hunger? Am I hungry or do I think I'm hungry? Is this what full feels like? We are learning our bodies right now. Try and stay calm and focused. Do what your doctor told you.. use is as your training manual! We are being trained and reprogrammed to learn how to live our lives not around food anymore. I've been staying away from anyone who is cooking for that reason. I don't want to be tempted to do something I shouldn't and I also want to say focused and keep my momentum going. You can do this! I have faith in you!!- Power 90
Bravo to you! I I did Power 90 a year an a half ago and it's intense! I lost 25lbs my first month and toned up big time!! It was just a lot for me after a while and I got injured and went back to old habits. Keep up the good work! Between that and the band, you're golden!- Pulling sensation from port site/area
I have a similar issues. But first, I wanted to tell you that I'm 5 days post-op and I still hold my port site out of habit now. I do, however, have sensitivity and/or possible bloating above my port site right under my left breast. I'm not too too concerned but I slightly am. I do think, however, that it may be the tube that connects the band to the port. I'm going to mention it to my doctor tomorrow. Does anyone else have this issue?- Mushies
love this topic! I start mushies in 2 weeks but I'm trying to get prepared for what I can eat and how to prepare it! Thanks everyone!!- question#1
I agree with the above posts. I think WLS is a very personal decision and there is no right or wrong choice. You need to do what is best for you. I was also torn between the sleeve and the band. Honestly I got caught up in the fact that sleevers lost weight faster and in forgot about why I wanted the band to begin with. I couldn't stand the thought of having my stomach cut off forever. That was too scary. - Post Op Food Phases?
