Be Honest- Is Banded Life Hard?

Wow! I am overwhelmed by the amount of responses! You are all amazing people.. Your willingness to share your stories with me and everyone interested is beyond generous. I have read all of them and overall, I can tell that yes, there will be sacrifices and there will be times when you struggle but in the end, it's all worth it. It was comforting to know that many of you do not have cravings... That's a big fear. Again, thank you very much! Sincerely, Jennifer

    Approval Process Stories

For those of you who already had the surgery or were approved for the surgery, would you mind sharing your story of the approval process? I haven't even attended my first seminar yet (it's on Nov. 15) but I'd just like to get a better feel for the process. thanks so much! -Jennifer

    Recent Rocklanders???

I'm looking at Dr. Rivera. Which Dr. Pucci did you go to? I believe there are three of them. I do, however, think that Dr. Ramon Rivera is the only doctor in-network for my insurance though. How are you feeling?

    Question About Consultation

I'll be attending my first seminar next Thursday... Would it be a good idea to make my initial consultation appointment beforehand? Also, do I need to get in touch with my pcp?

    Question About Consultation

Thanks for your advice. My insurance company did not say anything about needing a referral- only documentation that it is medically necessary. I guess I'll wait until the seminar to find out . Thanks so much everyone

    Have To Share!!!

I'm so excited and have to share this! I just called my I durance company (magnacare) for a second time to find out if Lapband is covered. The first time I was told there was nothing showing about coverage so I'd have to send in a predetermination letter and they'd go from there. So I called again today and if I go to an in-network surgeon I'm 100100% covered!!!!!!

    Recent Rocklanders???

I'm in Rockland but haven't gotten the surgery et. I'm attending my first seminar next week. Don't even know if my insurance will cover it (magnacare). They said to send in the predetermination first and they'll go from there. Whatever that means..
  19. I feel the same way! I haven't even gone yo my first seminar yet! I finally told my mom last night and she doesn't agree with it because she sees it as unnecessary but once I explained to her my risks now and with surgery and how much it will benefit me she was much more accepting and supportive. In my head, I still feel the stigma of being the "easy way out" although I know it is the complete opposite. Keep your chin up, your loved ones will support you no matter what, even though they may not agree with it. We're all here for you! Feel free to message me if you need a shoulder! -Jennifer
  20. I called my insurance company (MagnaCare) and since they were unable to find out if bariatric surgery was covered, she told me to send in the predetermination and they'd go from there. Has anyone who's had the LapBand dealt with this? Would you assume this is a good thing? Maybe meaning if I qualify for the LapBand I will be covered? Fingers crossed!

    Magnacare

For future reference for any MangaCare members- I called and the representative couldn't find out where it said anything about being covered for bariatric surgery. The representative , Diana, said to send in my predetermination and they'd go from there. I'm not sure if this is just through my plan through my job or not but I wanted to let you all know. -Jennifer
