    Tomorrow, my life changes.

Good luck and congratulations!! All of your emotions are completely normal! Expect to be in pain and immobile because if you expect the worst, it can only be better. sleeping may be difficult so have lots of pillows ready. Make sure you keep drinking and moving afterwards b/c it will help you move gas around. Just remember you will get through it, even at your worst, you will get through it! Also, you may wanna wash your sheets ahead of time b/c you'll probably be in bed for a few days! Best of luck! Keep us posted!

    Ouch!

I'm 2 weeks post op tomorrow and on Monday I'll have my phase change from shakes to 1 soft food meal. From what I've understood from the boards is that there is a difference between mushy and soft foods. I would call your doctor to be sure, but I'd assume that Wendy's Chilli is a soft food rather than a mushy food. Think about when you got your wisdom teeth removed (if you did) or some sort of dental procedure.. think foods along that line. Soft, almost pre-chewed food. Mashed potatoes, mashed cauliflower, apple sauce, yogurt, cottage cheese, laughing cow cheese- things like that; again, it all depends on your doctor. Maybe give him/her a call just to inform them of what you had (not for scolding) but to let them know how you reacted to it and ask if it's normal. Maybe ask for some recommendations on foods as well. As far as your pain, I don't really have anything I can offer you from experience other than walking to help. Best of luck!

    1 week post-op I feel like Rocky!!

I love this post title!! I'm so happy you're feeling good!! That first time you feel so good is amazing!! As far as your gauze and tape, I'd say change it or remove them (as my doctor told me if they got wet) because you don't want your incisions to be sitting there with a moist gauze (but I'm not a medical professional, this is just my opinion) If you're concerned, give your doctor a call, it can't hurt to be sure. Best of luck and I hope your days get brighter and brighter, Rocky

    Tofu

love the ideas! I've had tofu in the past and nearly vomited, but it wasn't prepared any special way, so I'm looking for something that can change my mind. I've been checking pinterest endlessly and finding some recipes there as well. I love Tilapia! Thank you!

    Tofu

Hi everyone! I am not on food yet, but I'm researching tons of recipes to be prepared and I keep finding tofu recipes and I have some questions for those of you who actually eat it. 1.) What are the benefits of tofu over other Proteins? (chicken, pork, beef, or fish) 2.) What kind of tofu do you buy? (brand, firmness) 3.) What is your favorite recipe? Thanks SO much!

    Post op day two

Congratulations on entering the banded world!! I promise you that everyday gets better and better! Keep taking your pain medications! That's wonderful that you're not in too much pain. My gas pains were the worst part of them all! Just keep drinking and walking because it will not only help you build strength, but it will help your gas pains (if any) move and dissipate. Sleeping was really hard for me, but it will get better. I'd say around day 4,5, or 6 I was able to somewhat sleep on my side and through the night for the first time. Stay strong!!

    Apps for tracking?

    I love my fitness pal!
  17. All I can say is good luck! I'm only 12 days post op, so I don't have experience with that other than my nurse practitioner telling me it's a special kind of needle that many of her patients barely feel. You can do this!!

Is it weird that I can eat soft food already?

I don't think that's weird that you are able to eat those foods you listed- they're soft foods and some will slide right thorugh your band. I do, however, think that this stage of your surgery is for healing and what I call "training mode". We are being reprogrammed to think, eat, and function like a person without an eating disorder. What we do now, in my opinion, is going to set the tone for the future. The more we give in and go off of our doctor's plans, we're only hurting ourselves. I recommed that you follow your doctor and nutritionists recommendations in order to ensure optimum nutrition and weight loss. You can do this! Just stay strong and don't give in to your temptations!

    Gum?

Ok, this may sound really stupid, but being 10-day post op am I allowed to chew gum? My doctor never mentioned anything
  20. ireallywannabthin

    Gum?

Thank you all for your responses! I do remember my doctor mentioning the harm gum can do if swallowed. I decided to say away from gum. Thanks again!

    Unflavored Protein

Hi everyone! I'm trying to prepare for when I am able to eat again and I've been thinking about getting unflavored Protein power (Unjury). I was wondering how all of you who have it use it. I don't know of it's worth my buying. Thanks

    4 days Post-Op....hungry

You should talk to your doctor about that. Everyone's diet is different, so what's good for one may not be good for the other. My doctor required 5 days post op of clear liquids and then 2 weeks of shakes. Don't take anyone but your doctors advice unordered to ensure you are properly following their guidelines. I'm 10 days post op and hungry also. Keep pushing, you WILL get through this!
  24. Today is one week that I've had my band and my official weight loss is 16lbs! I'm so excited!!
