    Morning Tightness?

I am 4 days postop and I've noticed that I can almost possibly feel my band in the morning. I mean, I will wake up, and not be hungry but I almost feel like something is in my upper stomach right beneath my chest (where the band is). When I sit down, i can feel my heartbeat in my chest/stomach. Is this normal?

    Morning Tightness?

Thank you everyone for all of your tips! I tried the warm Water thing yesterday morning and I do believe it helped! it actually felt quite nice feeling the warmth go down! I'm only 6 days post-op so I'm assuming I still have some swelling also? I don't know.. I am a little sore or sensitive above my port area underneath my left breast. Maybe I'm paranoid but I'm nervous
  3. I was on Clear Liquids for the first five days so I had sugar free Popsicles, crystal lite, and low sodium broth (beef, chicken, and vegetable). My doctor did not allow me to have Jello because they considered it a solid food but I've talked to many people who were able to have that. Talk to your doctor and see what they recommend. I started Protein shakes today (I'm 5 days post op) so it's best to try some samples before hand if you haven't already. For Protein Shakes I got some Torani sugar free syrups to add for flavor. I'm not a fan of any protein shakes to be honest, but it's really just a matter of following your doctors orders so you can heal and move on to food. Also, make sure you have a Water bottle or something to be able to measure your water. I have a few water bottles that have measurements on them so I know how many I need to drink. I also was told to stock up on liquid tylenol for minor pain (you'll get the strong stuff from your doctor). I was told that gas-x won't help with gas pains so I didn't get that, but everyone is different! May I also suggest socks with grips on the bottom to help you walk and not slip at all and also a travel pillow or something that wraps around your neck while you sleep! Best of luck!!

    Insurance Approved!!

    What an exciting day!! Congratulations!
  5. Finally started protein shakes today!!

  6. I'm 5 days postop and I just started protein shakes today. I have no idea what any of the feelings I'm getting are. Are these rumbles in my stomach gas or hunger? Am I hungry or do I think I'm hungry? Is this what full feels like? We are learning our bodies right now. Try and stay calm and focused. Do what your doctor told you.. use is as your training manual! We are being trained and reprogrammed to learn how to live our lives not around food anymore. I've been staying away from anyone who is cooking for that reason. I don't want to be tempted to do something I shouldn't and I also want to say focused and keep my momentum going. You can do this! I have faith in you!!

    Power 90

Bravo to you! I I did Power 90 a year an a half ago and it's intense! I lost 25lbs my first month and toned up big time!! It was just a lot for me after a while and I got injured and went back to old habits. Keep up the good work! Between that and the band, you're golden!

    Pulling sensation from port site/area

I have a similar issues. But first, I wanted to tell you that I'm 5 days post-op and I still hold my port site out of habit now. I do, however, have sensitivity and/or possible bloating above my port site right under my left breast. I'm not too too concerned but I slightly am. I do think, however, that it may be the tube that connects the band to the port. I'm going to mention it to my doctor tomorrow. Does anyone else have this issue?

    question#1

I agree with the above posts. I think WLS is a very personal decision and there is no right or wrong choice. You need to do what is best for you. I was also torn between the sleeve and the band. Honestly I got caught up in the fact that sleevers lost weight faster and in forgot about why I wanted the band to begin with. I couldn't stand the thought of having my stomach cut off forever. That was too scary.
  11. Hey everyone. Ill be starting Mushies and soft foods in 2 weeks and I wanted to know what you all think. My doctor has me roomed applesauce, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, even finely chopped eggs.. Would you consider chilli to be part of this phase?

    Mushies/soft food phase

hmm, interesting. I go from Protein shakes for 2 weeks to 2 weeks of mushy/soft foods then to solids. It's amazing how every doctor is so different. I'll have to check with my doctor and nutritionist. Thanks Missy

    Feelings after being banded

I'm 4 days post op and I've been an emotional wreck! I have felt everything you have, so don't worry you're not alone. I think our bodies and minds are going through withdrawals right now and any all all emotions are totally expected, acceptable, and completely justified. Don't let the struggle blur your focus of your goal. Stay positive! The harder the struggle the more worth it in the end. The struggles are character defining moments in your journey. You can do this! Utilize these boards endlessly! Venting and knowing you have support are crucial! Best of luck and stay strong! I believe in you!!

    How to Sleep After...

I was banded 4 days ago and sleep has been annoying. The first night was very rough. I'm a stomach and side sleeper and I was only able to sleep on my back. I woke up a lot but I had pillows on each side of me to try and help. When I layed flat, the gas pains got so intense that I woke up crying. I decided to sleep sitting up in my bed so I was propped up with pillows. Eventually I was up at 4 for the rest of the day. The nights tend to be long but they are getting easier and easier. I slept on my sides for a little while last night which was exciting. You'll get through it, I promise!
