    Is this normal?!

Let me start by saying I was banded on 2.6.13. This is my first week off of clear liquids and now on 3 protein shakes a day (340 calorie intake per day). I just jumped on the scale out of curiosity and it barely moved from last Wednesday. Is this normal? I am a little disappointed but still trying to stay focused. Could my body be in starvation mode? Has this happened to any of you? I understand that I'm still in the healing part of my journey and shouldn't worry about weight loss but I can't help but be a little bummed.

  4. So I k ow thy every doctor is extremely different in how they want their patients to work with their LapBand, but I was just curious to know what's everyone's phases were in terms of post op eating. I do shakes for 2 weeks, soft foods for 2-4 weeks, then solids. I'm going to find out for sure but I think my doctor still wants us to do 2 shakes and 1 meal during the soft and solids stage. What does your doctor require?

    Post Op Food Phases?

It's so interesting how every doctor is different. I read an educational booklet that my doctor gives to all of his patients which includes info about all of my phases and it says that during the soft food phase, they still want us to have two shakes a day and 1 meal for soft foods. It also says that they recommend two shakes a day when I'm on solids, but I honestly don't see me being able to survive very long with only one meal a day. I'll have to bring that up to my doctor and nutritionist when I go in on the 25th.

    Post Op Food Phases?

Ok so my plan isn't far off. I have to find out when I'm allowed a full regular diet. Right now I'm not exercising at all but on Monday I'm going to start walking. My doctor recommended it during my follow up so I want to start.
  12. Im 6 days post op and I was just taking a shower and I started feeling weak and seeing dots so I got out and sat on the toilet for a minute. I went back in and my breathing started getting deeper and faster and my face felt cold and the dots got worse so I grabbed the towel and sat on the toilet and felt I was probably seconds from fainting and ran to my bed and laid down until I felt better. Has this happened to anyone? It was so scary!
  13. I'm looking for recommendations for chewable multi vitamins. I'm not allowed gummies I need ones that dissolve (compare it to TUMS consistency). Any suggestions?
  14. Hey everyone! I was banded two days ago and sill be starting my Protein Shakes in Monday! I wanted to know if you can suggest some sugar free flavored syrups to add to Protein shakes that you enjoyed! Any and all recipes are welcomed! Thank you!!

    Restaurant Card

I found some information on that. You should get it from your doctor. I never received one, but I wonder if I will once I'm allowed to eat solids. Here is the link http://www.lapband.com/en/live_healthy_lapband/the_first_weeks/patient_id_card/

    Post Op Day 2

It was the same for me and I had my surgery 1 week ago today. Walking helped the most for me and lifting my arms above my head. Hang in there.

6 days post op and almost fainted

Thanks everyone for responding! I talked to my doctor about it and he just said drink more water.. so yes, it did sound like dehydration a bit. I also told him I was grossed out seeing the incisions so he laughed and said it could have been a combination! Thanks for helping everyone

6 days post op and almost fainted

Thank you everyone your your input and suggestions! I am going to my doctor tonight so I will mention it. I am drinking enough Water but it time for another Protein shake now. I also saw my staples for the first time today which make me nauseous anyway. But I'm definitely mentioning it to my doctor. Thanks everyone

    laxative

I agree with the above posts... don't become dependent upon those. You may be having even more of a difficult time now simply because your body expects the laxative to do it's job for it. My doctor recommends milk of mag. also if you're having trouble having a bowel movement. Also, just like many have said, take a fiber supplement. Another thing is, are you staying hydrated and drinking enough? I've noticed in the past, pre band, that if I don't drink enough I have a very difficult time having a bowel movement.

    Really sore!!!!

I'm 6 days postop and I am still somewhat sore. This is NORMAL I promise you! I was so sore for a few days.. yes, coughing and laughing were SO painful! Any movement was painful. This is ok. Just like the above post says, take your pain meds because it will take the edge off and stay hydrated. I had terrible gas pains and walking did help. Do what you can! I switched between sitting up in my bed and sitting in a chair to help. You'll get through this, don't you worry! Your port is sore because that incision is the main area where the band is inserted through (from what I've heard) and the port is in your muscle so any ab movements will move that a little. Just follow your doctors orders and give yourself time to heal and recover. Best of luck and welcome to the other side!

    Chewable protein supplements?

I'm only 6 days post-op and I'm only on day 2 of my three Protein shakes a day and I'm ALREADY sick of the protein shakes! They actually make me nauseous when I drink them lol! I didn't know they had protein supplements so I'm going to look into that (Thanks for mentioning it). I also agree with the above post.. did your doctor tell you to continue on Protein Shakes even when you're allowed to eat food? You could also buy unflavored Protein powder to add to your meals for that extra boost! I've heard a lot of bandsters use unjury. You may want to look into that. Best of luck and congratulations on your success so far!
