  1. I tried to do the Thrift store thing but on my first visit I couldn't find anything I liked and after I thought more about it, I got nervous about bed bugs too. I went around and signed up to get coupons through email for places like New York and Co so I could go buy a few things and get money off. Also, a lot of cities have the Entertainment Book with coupons in it ($30ish) and there are some clothing store coupons and some fun activity coupons (zoo, putt putt, bowling).
  2. Oh and I forgot to say, congrats on the 20lbs!!! Awesome!!!
  3. Those shots are the worst!!! it's tough at first, but it'll continue to get better. And when you're ready really work on getting all your protein in. Makes a big difference with how you feel. soon you'll be sleeping better, I'm sure. I'm a tummy sleeper, and I was able to sleep like that when I got home- but a lot of people are still too sore.
  4. Awesome progress! It's hard when you still see the bigger you. I've lost close to 90lbs since August and I still don't feel like I'm as "skinny" as I am! Hopefully the mind will catch up, eventually!
  5. Mommymook- how's it going one week out?! Still sore I would bet! Hope it's going well otherwise!
  6. Congratulations!!! I bet you feel amazing!
  7. I used to have that problem with my teeth (Pre-surgery) for years. I used Sensodyne tooth paste for a few months and it really helped. Just and idea
  8. Ugh! Cut me off! I was over orange jello at that point. Haha.
  9. Oh- I tried Orange and I didn't really like it very much (maybe because I was so over orange e
  10. I use the isopure premixed grape flavor and it's not too bad.
  11. Good luck tomorrow! I'm sure you'll do great. I will say a prayer for you Let us know how you do!
  12. You'll be there before you know it and it'll feel amazing!!
  13. I'm 4 weeks out today and up until a few days ago I was really constipated- it's awful isn't it?! Now I'm going pretty much every day. I upped my protein and it helped... Not sure if that's a common thing or not... It'll get better! But since it's so uncomfortable, you might as well call the doctor and see if he/she has any ideas to help you! Good luck!
  14. I have the Nuva ring. I've been on it or years and love it. With that said, I would be careful with birth control after surgery. I've seen lots of posts about ladies getting pregnant (not intending to) because we become more fertile with weight loss, so just be careful! Good luck!
  15. I hear you! The first weeks are really tough! But just do your best with the protein and the fluids every day. It'll come with time!
  16. Isopure makes a whey protein drink that's sort of like a sports drink and I believe it's lactose and dairy free. I drink the grape flavor in 20oz premixed bottles. I get mine at Vitamin Shoppe, and I think you can get them Online (maynr GNC too?) It's actually not that bad, in my opinion. Good luck!
  17. I initially had surgery (the sleeve) in August 2012. It went horribly wrong and I was unable to hydrate myself, let alone eat anything. This continued for four and a half long months before I had rny 12/17 (I am much better now!). I never considered myself a strong person (hey, I was addicted to food- made me feel weak, I could never win that war!). That surgery showed me that I truly am a strong person, to make it through all of this. I think we're all stronger than we realize for making this tough decision and making all these changes! Go us!!
  18. Hello! When I had my sleeve I had 4 scopes with dilitations. Totally not a big deal. They put you out for it, so you'll need a ride home from someone. I think maybe one time I had a sore throat for a day afterward. I agree, it's probably just to take an extra look so the surgeon knows what he/she is dealing with before they go in. Good luck!
  19. @mwrarr- any answers yet?! @mommymook- I hope surgery went well for you! It was yesterday, right? Let us know how you're doing when you feel up to it!
  20. Okay, so not to go all TMI on this but I've just got to tell you this! I went to Victoria's Secret and found some semi sexy things to wear. First time I wore them it was a big deal for me- and it really got things going! Because my fiancé was super into it, it helped me feel more comfortable/confident/sexy and it's really helped bring my desire back. Maybe something you should try!
  21. I had Dr. McDonald (Upstate) and I think he and the practice are fantastic! I can't say enough good things about them. Dr. McDonald really takes his time to explain things. In August I had the sleeve done with Dr. DeSimone. I have to say, it didn't go well. I'm sure he has done many surgeries that are successful, and I guess it was just my (un)lucky day when he operated. The practice left much to be desired, in my opinion.
  22. It does help, thank you. I guess I am just worried about it because I can't keep eating like every hour (which I can seem to do...) once I go back to work because I'm a teacher. I just want to be able to eat like 2oz of protein in like a half hour! Haha. Maybe once more swelling goes down the restriction will ease a little, and I'll ask my surgeon when I see him next.
