Nervous
I am terrified about the pre op liquid diet. How is it possible to be only on liquids? Any advice on how to get through it? What can i expect? Headaches? Stomach pain? Extreme hunger? Does liquids include Protein shakes? I know my doc will tell me all in my follow up visit next week... but i can't tell u how scared i am!! Thanks

Same Or Gaining?
Hey Diamante, The best advice i have gotten on this site so far is that until you get in the "green zone" and have good restriction with your fills, it's just another diet! Restricted food, feeling hungry, will power, calories in vs calories out and all the rest of it. Obviously it's slightly more complicated on the body cos surgery and healing is involved, but that will pass. From what i've read, you are just in the first "adjusting to your new lifestyle" period of it all. It only gets easier and if you can get through the first few months of feeling hungry, dealing with the big change lifestyle change, healing your body and learning what foods work for you, you will be just as successful as the next person! Good luck

Feeling Discouraged
Hi guys! I'm not banded yet, so all this is fascinating and scary/exciting! Post op liquid and mushi stages aside, I've noticed a lot of people say that no matter what stage you are in fills that you should eat the 1 cup max of the right foods, drink your Water and get some exercise.... so in theory, whether you have no fills or 5 fills, you should lose at the same rate if you follow these rules? The difference with the fills being that when you are searching for the green zone, you no longer feel hungry with your portion... is that right? I see why it is so important to eat the right amount and right food, cos you need to monitor how hungry you are getting between meals so when you do get more fills, you can identify when the band is at good restriction. Thanks

Almost 2 Weeks Post Op
Hi, I'm about 3 weeks out from my band. Just out of curiosity, why are you allowed to have Protein Shakes and not a touch of milk in your tea? Is dairy a no no in the first stage of liquids, but protein shakes are ok? I guess i will learn all this when i progress through the process. Thanks in advance!

What Was Your 1 Month Loss?? & Where Did You Stop Getting Fills
4 lbs a week aint bad right? If u did that every week you would be at 16 lbs for the month which from what i gather is a great post op loss? I am getting banded soon and i am nervous about post op loss. I know slow and steady wins the race and everything.... i think its natural to want to hit the ground running after something so drastic.

Good luck with your journey and i hope we can be of further assistance to each other in future!- Any Low Bmi Bandsters With Successful Weight Loss?
Do u know how much u lost from your surgery date? that's great by the way! You must be stoked- 2 Sizes Down :)
You lost 31lbs in 5 weeks? Is this all post op?- Hiding The Lap Band From Others And General Advice For A Newbie
Music to my ears. Thank you for your reply! Although i am very clear about doing this surgery, i was a little apprehensive of certain things when in social situations. Good to hear it's not necessarily as difficult to hide as some have experienced! Thanks again!- Aggressive Fills?
Were you able to lose weight being on liquids in those 3 weeks? Did u still have to aim for 1200 (or less) calories while on liquids?- Hiding The Lap Band From Others And General Advice For A Newbie
And you have never been "stuck" or have a band related reaction? Wow that would be heaven. I hope that i will be able to exist this way with the band! I have just read so many people talk about some of the difficulties that i am trying to prepare for the worst. You have had no fills? Are you losing weight? Thanks- Any Low Bmi Bandsters With Successful Weight Loss?
Congrats! And thank you! I assume you are still on liquids stage? What kinds of things are you having?- Hiding The Lap Band From Others And General Advice For A Newbie
Very true!!- Hiding The Lap Band From Others And General Advice For A Newbie
Brilliant. This is kinda along the lines i was thinking. I thought if i said i was on a portion control diet where i also eliminate certain foods altogether and chew slow to make meals longer i could mask it. Cos they are all ideas that have floated around before to help people with weight loss. Thank you!- Hiding The Lap Band From Others And General Advice For A Newbie
Hi! Thanks for the reply. Yeah i'm just not in the position to trust certain people. I'm 29 and it's not very "cool" to some of the shallow circles of the field i am in, so i just can't. My husband, immediate family, and in laws know and are very supportive. But certain circles, absolutely not. Thanks and good luck!- Any Low Bmi Bandsters With Successful Weight Loss?
Hi, this is my 2nd post! I have so many questions! Ok, i was wondering if there are any low BMI bandsters (my bmi is 33) who had a successful weight loss in the first month. After 30 years of struggle, i am definitely not in a hurry and will give this the time it needs, but i know how i work and would like to hit the ground running if possible to set the tone for my journey. Even an initial good loss of say 10-20lbs the first month followed by a long-ish stall is ok.... i just wanna make sure i do everything i can to not have a situation where i don't see ANY results post op and have some kind of post op depression. Like i said, i know it will take time, and i have done tons of research reading your very helpful posts For those of you lucky enough to have a good loss in the first month, Is it just a matter of following doctors/nutritionists orders to a T? Thank u guys! Ugh, i am so keen to get this done! I would do it tomorrow if i could! - Hiding The Lap Band From Others And General Advice For A Newbie
