  1. My doc has not mentioned a restricted diet the day of or after. I had my third fill yesterday and have not had any problems with resuming my regular diet. Although as previously stated, it is best to follow your physicians instructions. They know better than we do. Good luck and God Bless!

  2. Thank you for your comments and suggestions. I think I will be trying them soon. I will keep you posted. :)

CaWannaBand- thanks for the link. One of my friends suggested, since I love mushrooms as well, to try pouring the turkey spaghetti sauce over the mushrooms. Never thought of that but it was great. I sauteed the mushrooms with a little bit of EVOO and then poured the sauce over, added a little low fat mozzarella cheese and it was DELICIOUS!!

Have a great day!! God Bless!

  3. So I've been researching the heck out of everything and came across a low-carb substitute for Pasta. Shirataki noodles...say what? lol thought the name sounded funny  Any who, I've been using 100% whole wheat pasta (in small amounts of course) but my husband was recently told he has high cholesterol. They gave him a couple of months to try to lower it by changing his diet before the put him on medication. I was banded on Nov. 2012 and decided to change my entire families eating habits along with my own...lol My husband only had like 15lbs to lose and my 17 yr old daughter has about 40lbs to lose. Either way they have been very supportive in my journey and willing to try whatever I put on the table. This makes my life soooo much easier. Now back to the subject. Has anyone tried these noodles and are they good? If so, how did you prepare them? I LOVE pasta and hope I can find something that is delicious and healthy for me and my family. :)

  4. You look so beautiful in the before and after pics. I was banded on Nov. 2012 and have been on a slow and steady path. I was a bit disappointed the weight was not falling off faster, but I think this is the right pace for me. I have not gained so that is a big plus...lol. Thank you for posting such an inspirational post. Enjoy your success, you deserve it! :)

  5. I cant speak for everyone, but HELLO diet was the one thing that we, MOST, couldn't follow! This is why wls is the option most choose I understand that it is a tool, but motivation and support is needed to succeed. Some dont realize that u can hav serious complications if u dont comply with the so called "DIET" rules. Its not like pre WLS. U can actually do harm to ur body if u continue the bad habits.

  6. Banded on 11/15/2012 in SAT. One fill and not losing too much. Ive lost almost 40lbs total. That is including preop when i lost 20lbs. So pretty much lost 20 post. Im going back for 2nd fill on the 16th of this month. Slow and steady but thank God im not gaining. Made it through the holidays and didn't gain not one pound so that was an actual miracle! Lol good luck fellow banders!!

  7. Yeah..be careful.3 beers sounds like a lot. How does your stomach feel?

I knew that no one would actually tell me that drinking was okay. I was just going through a tough time. I have since recovered and pulled myself out of the pits of hell! lol jk  Although, I did feel pretty awful for the next few days following- guilt was horrible. I think the worst part though was my appetite the next day. OMG! I wanted to eat everything in sight. My band of course did not allow me to make any more regretful decisions but believe me I tried. So here I am back on course and determined to stay on the straight and narrow. I appreciate everyone comments! :D Oh and to answer your question back2petite, my stomach did feel a little bloated but otherwise it was fine. I did call my advocate to confess the next day. She told me that carbonation is fine in moderation but to remember beer was high in calories. I guess all docs are different. That being said, I will find other ways to relieve stress before turning to alcohol again. Like I said earlier, my appetite was insatiable, not to mention the headache. Thanks again!

  8. Ok so ive been doing pretty well until today!!! Banded on 11/15/2012. avoided the drama and alcohol that comes with my family and the holidays but today was the straw that broke the camels back! Between work, the new stress of a layoff, WLS, family..., and hubby moving to graveyard shift!!! OMG!! I needed a few beers!! I feel so guilty but sooooo relaxed!! I hope I dont hurt my band! :( ive worked so hard and it makes me mad that I crumbled! :(

  9. Thanks ladies! Im gonna need to remember that after my fills. I haven't had any problems consuming anything until today. It was a ham egg and cheese omelet that did it. I ate some mushies later jus cause I was still freaked out from stuck episode- not fun.

@ sagetracey- I guess I must bruise easy. I had major bruises after surgery as well. I was trying to post a pic but was unable to. Thx again!

  10. I am one month post-op. Had my first fill on Friday and felt restriction right away. I thought I was doing well untill this morning. After a couple of bites of Breakfast I felt pain in my chest and up came the food. Needless to say breakfast was over..lol. or should I say in the toilet. Well learned my lesson, next time chew, chew, chew, and then chew again. Weight loss has been slow but im confident things will begin to move along now that I've had my first fill. By the way, the bruise after fill is ugly. Does this happen everytime?

  11. My doctor had the same orders for me stay hydrated until my first office visit is most important. I am drinking diet green tea and crystal light mostly and then for sustenance i am drinking chicken broth. Today is day two post op, my surgery was Monday with a few

complications. Hunger is not an issue for me the gas pain is, walking around is the best relief so far, gas x

strips help a little. I just pray the worst part is over it feels like a cross between 1000 sit-ups and a broken rib. I just

keep telling myself the worst part is over. The good news is I am swallowing real good, keeping fluids down well so that part pleases me.

Hang in there! Day two and three was the worst for me. I felt as if I had been run over by a truck. Keep walking, it does help and it does get better. I am 13 days post op, 12lbs down from surgery and feeling great. Wish you the best in your recovery. :)

  12. Lol..cheznoel that was funny! I felt that smack from here lol. Well I wish u all the best allik07. I hav a large mirror that I eat in front of when im at home and believe me that keeps me from going over my limit. I was a huge bread & tortilla fan. My family cannot believe that I pass it up as many times as I have been around it. All I have to say is that I love getting on the scale and see it consistently go down everyweek more than I love white flour. ..lol :)

  13. Ok so eveything had been going well untill last night. After being released from the hospital yesterday, my husband and I ran some errands and I did quite a bit of walking. I was very tired when we arrived home so I changed and went to lay down. After about an hour I tried to get up and walk around and I could barely move. I felt as if I had been run over by a truck. Every muscle in my body is sore and achy. My throat hurts and it is hard to swallow. Is this to be expected or should I call the doc? Please advise :(

  14. Well I made it through the pre-op now packing for my hospital stay. Im very excited and pray that all goes well. I am really happy that my hubby can stay the night with me at the hospital-makes me feel a little more at ease. My surgery is scheduled for 1:30p CST so I better get going. See y'all on the other side fellow banders! God Bless us all. :)
