    Day 3

Sorry, that's right--not all doctors are the same. Mine had me on full liquids by day 2. Otherwise, drink Isopure which is clear (apple melon is best).

    Day 3

Get some Protein mix with whey isolates and you should be getting down 60-80 grams per day. I concur about Water too--check your hydration a couple ways: 1. What is color of urine? 2. Do skin test, grab one wrist (normal grip). How long until color returns to your wrist?

    Day 3

How much Protein are you eating each day?
  5. So, I have been trying to get 60-80 grams of protein down per day. I was banded 4/17 and I've been hitting that goal for the past couple of days. I just re-read my doctor's instructions and realized that I have been drinking far too many ounces at each meal (8-12). Now, granted, until today it would literally take me 2 hours to drink that amount each time. I guess my question to veterans is: have I possibly stretched my pouch by drinking this much or should I be okay? It still takes me 30 minutes to drink 8 oz.

    Anyone from Indiana

Hello fellow Indiana Bandsters!! I'm an hour north of you guys in Lafayette. I was part of a brand-new program in this area and was the second of three banded at the IU Heath Arnett Hospital, which is part of the same hospital network you all are being treated at. Hope all is going well!!

Thanks everyone--I feel better hearing your replies.

I knew i would screw something up....

I've had restriction since day one that actually makes fluids take a pause before passing through the band. I always have a bit of a waiting period (5-10 seconds) before I get a feeling of relief when it moves through. That feeling seems to be less and less each day though.
  9. I was banded April 17th and I'm a guy. I can at least tell you what I've gone through. Good luck!

    Best tasting protein shakes????

I use vanilla or unflavored and then mix in the "Mio-style" drink liquid into the blender. So far, I've added Grape and blueberry. Both rocked and give such better variety! My biggest challenge is getting the frothiness to actually go past my stoma.

    Three Days Post Op

I was also banded 4/17. Have those of you who are already doing protein shakes having any issues getting them down? The protein I'm using (ON Gold Standard Whey) foams up significantly when blended and if I drink too quickly I get what I can only imagine is a stuck episode.

Need info about It Works! wraps

My guess is that this is like a "hillbilly lapband" it causes restriction and won't let your stomach expand beyond a certain level. I cannot see the point of combining them though. You are already far more restricted with the band than what this could ever do. Again, just my guess...
  14. Tomorrow is the day! I started in October at 285, dropped 10lbs and also lost another 14 in the last 2 weeks. My goal weight is 165--haven't been there since Jr high many years ago. My biggest motivation is my boys (3yrs and 3 months) and that I don't want them to grow up seeing an inactive man as their role model. Also I do not want to set them up to have such an unhealthy relationship with food as I had. Good luck to all other bandsters this week and otherwise.
  15. Nonfat milk here. Carnation instant Breakfast (no sugar added). Not too bad actually. Just don't have the energy to stay up later than 9:30 anymore. And that's saying a lot for someone who used to regularly stay up past midnight.
  16. Does anyone here who has been banded wear a medical alert bracelet or dog tags? I was just thinking about how this might be important post-banding.
  17. My insurance didn't require PCP referral but my surgeon required that my PCP would sign off (of course i didn't learn this until 6 months had passed and I was 3 weeks before surgery. My PCP made me do a couple of more tests than my surgeon, they were relevant and showed me again that my PCP had my best interests at heart and I passed without any issues.

Day 4 of pre op diet

I'm on day #6 and I'm down 8 lbs. This diet reminds you of what ACTUAL hunger feels like, rather than cravings.

    Liquid intake

The new "liquid" flavorings are the best--Mio, Crystal Light, even Kool-Aid. Great flavors and fairly cheap. Zero calories.

    Medical Alert Bracelet

For at least a couple of reasons--if you are ever unconscious and can't tell medical personnel, they somehow need to know that you've been banded and shouldn't have an NG tube inserted blindly and shouldn't be given any NSAIDs.
  21. Glad to hear it! Diet soda is a huge addiction for some so I was shocked to hear about it being okay right up to surgery. Good luck with your surgery--I am one day before you on the 17th

    Medical Alert Bracelet

That's pretty snazzy--I like the idea of having it--I'm thinking the people saying it's not necessary have likely never needed it. I think I will go the dog tag route personally but I really dig your lap band bling
