I am loving my sleeve! The band was just vomiting, starving, reflux and pain. I just love the sleeve; no reflux, no vomiting, no pains. I can EAT real food, just smaller portions, and I have lost 33 pounds so far. I want to get at least another 45 pounds off, but I know that it might take a while. I had my sleeve in mid July, so I hope that by January I have shed most of it!

Isn't this very similar if not the same as dumping syndrome. It happens if you eat to quickly or eat very sweet food.
I'm 7 weeks out and have similar symptoms if I have something sweet. It's a very unpleasant feeling.
Dumping syndrome can be triggered by different foods for different people, sometimes food that is too dry or to high in fat, but typically it's sweet food eaten to quickly.

tegz got a reaction from kll724 in Had some fluid taken out!
Hi everyone, I had an adjustment early December which put me up to 10ml in a 14 ml band. Mid January I started waking up in the middle of the night coughing and choking. I let it go as I knew I had another appointment early feb. As it turns out, it's a common sign the band is to tight. I honestly felt like I had good restriction never hungry eating small portions etc. but just the terrible chocking coughing at night. The dr has taken .5 ml out and now I find myself hungry and looking for food.
Has anyone else had these issues? And did your doctor do more fills after that event. I'm just worried I'm not going to get as good restriction again, but obviously don't want to be chocking in my sleep.
I have had the band for 18 months now and have only lost 46lb. Admittedly for 6 months there I didn't go to the dr for an adjustment during the early stages as I thought I was going fine. Wrong thing to do I know.
I have felt a bit flat and lacking energy particularly the last few months. I was going to the gym regularly prior and eating a good balanced meal. But lately, I feel tired no energy and just plan over it. I don't know what to do to get my motivation back.

It initially started off as reflux so I made sure not to eat 3 hours prior to bed, cut out a lot if foods that are known to cause reflux. But it persisted, if anything got worse. To the point I was bringing up a mouth full of stomach Fluid in my sleep and chocking. Such a scary experience. I even propped myself up on numerous pillows so I wasn't lying flag to help prevent the regurgitation in my sleep.

Hi what is the five day pouch reset, is this something your surgeon put you on. Do you have any information that you can post on here to follow?

At least most of these comments sound positive or people trying in their own way to be supportive. I've lost 18kg since getting my band ( had a few complication along the way, but back on track). It has been almost 12 months since getting my band. My mother in law ( who needs to lose weight herself), still says I look as if I've barely lost anything, and am I sure I've lost anything at all. REALLY..... I know she is doing this to make herself feel better, as everyone else I know has noticed and its obvious as I've gone down a couple dress sizes. But it's so nasty.
I like the positive comments, 'your looking great'. 'Keep up the good work' etc, most people are supportive and understanding about the band. I have explained it is a tool, it doesn't do all the work for me but it is something I needed to do to help myself.

WOW ! I never heard one negative comment ! I feel very lucky that I heard nothing bad, but if I had I would of just put it off to 'That's their problem, not mine ". I did read one funny quote that might help.... " A tiger doesn't lose sleep over the opinion of sheep ! " Oh, how true ! We are all "Tigers" when it comes to weightloss !

I felt the same way the first few months of having my band. I think you get to a stage where your relationship with food changes. I love food, and I think society has really encouraged our lives to revolve around it.
    One year later,
I now try and think of my banded life as I need food to live, not live for food. I still eat whatever I like, but if all I can have is a mouthful I'm happy with that. I don't look at the plate full and think 'I wish I could finish it all', I'm happy with my taste.
Trust me, as you see results your thought process will change. Overtime you will realise I can have that fried rice, but maybe I can only have a little bit.
Hope that helps, and keep going. I think we all go through a period where we question 'did we do the right thing?, is the band for me?'. At the end of the day it is reversible if all else fails.
