has anyone else been rejected by Dr. Malley?
JeninCO replied to NoLap-Band4me's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Malley sounds awful. I would run from him. To cut someone open and tell them after that they need to lose 20 pounds to have bariatric surgery? That's monstrous. -
I really hope the judge doesn't give this child back to the parents. Keep us updated!

Have you seen some of the more extreme anti-abortionist sites?

What a great thread! I never considered any of the above explanations for not getting a fill and now it's very clear to me, thanks! :clap2:

My dad used to give us a choice: A spanking or grounding. I would almost always opt to be grounded. Usually this would happen in the summer, when everyone would go the pool. My brother, being wise and forward thinking, would opt for the spanking. He would bend over, take his punishment and be out the door, mocking me as I wept from the lonely prison of my room .

But then the anti-abortionists will tell you that God has a purpose for this baby and it was HIS WILL.

I'm frustrated because here in Colorado everyone is crying and weeping and moaning over illegal immigration and how stronger laws need to be passed, but no one's enforcing the laws we have now. State troopers stopped a truck coming in to Colorado carrying a load of undocumented Mexicans. The state trooper ticketed the driver and let everyone go. He was at the end of his shift and didn't want the hassle. One of my clients is a 20-year old whose boyfriend and father of her child is an illegal and has an extensive arrest record, including assaulting a police officer. He chased her and her baby with a meat cleaver, breaking down a door and smashing a window. He was arrested and released on bail when he should have been deported. No new laws are going to make a bit of difference while the current laws aren't even taken seriously.

Woo HOO!! Supreme Court upholds Partial Birth Abortion Ban!!!!
JeninCO replied to gadgetlady's topic in Rants & Raves
That's a rather cavalier statement! It's interesting that people who've never had to see babies born with a dependence on drugs, fetal alcohol syndrome or work with abused children, have no compassion for those who have and refuse to even validate their point of view. It's their way or the highway. Kind of why this discussion will go nowhere. Yet, I always swallow the bait... -
PLEASE tell me this is normal!!!!
JeninCO replied to cyndilou29's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was completely freaked out. I was so scared the day of surgery I shook and had trouble talking, but it all went really well; the nurses were kind and very skilled and everyone was great. Make sure you get up and walk around as soon as you're awake and able to. This will help with the gas pains. I think everyone else has answered the rest of your questions, but check back -- everyone has been where you are! You will be so happy with your band, it will be the best thing you've ever done for yourself! -
Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
JeninCO replied to Sunta's topic in Rants & Raves
Well, one alternative is China's rule of one child per family... -
The current immigration laws aren't being enforced, what makes you think the new laws will be enforced any better? Any new immigration laws are just there to mollify panicked people who resent this unseen new enemy and to distract us from real issues. How has illegal immigration managed to suddenly become so immediate and desperate?

I don't believe in the hypocrisy of not speaking ill of the dead. What moronic crap. Falwell was an evil man who taught that hate was a Christian virture. He helped no one but himself and the people who agreed with him. Ding Dong the Witch Is Dead!

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
JeninCO replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I've heard nothing but good things about Dr Kirshenbaum. I was banded by Dr Brown in Denver and while I think the surgery went great, the aftercare and support is way below par. They didn't call after the surgery and didn't really ask how I was doing when I called to make my post op. I don't expect to be coddled, but it's major surgery, a lot of money and for $5000 less Dr Kirshenbaum does terrific aftercare and is an excellent surgeon, from what I've heard. Wish I'd gone to him! -
I'm a light smoker, maybe one or two a day and I had no problem. If you can quit, that would be your best bet, but I think just cutting down as much as you can would be the next best thing. Don't try to make too many changes at once. Cut down to two or three cigarettes a day -- make them a treat and not a necessity. The real barrier to your surgery if you go off the diet program your doctor set for you. Talk to your doctor if you can, but if he's anything like mine (which I hope he's not!), he'll blow you off. :huytsao I'm no doctor, but like I said, I smoke, my doctor knows I smoke and I had no problem. :cry

Up 2lbs!!! - is this usual?!
JeninCO replied to jammy117's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was going to go out and buy a scale, but my friend, who's been banded for five years now and has lost over 100 pounds, told me her doctor forbade her to weigh herself anywhere other than the doctor's office. Weight fluctuates day to day, due to Water retention, salt intake, etc. It's how you feel in your clothes, in your body, that matters. If you're working out, you're going to gain pounds, because muscle weighs more than fat, so don't freak out! Good luck and welcome to Lap Land! :kiss2: -

How on earth do you get enough water in???
JeninCO replied to cfred's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Caffeine is a diuretic, so whenever you think you're drinking in fluids with coffee or caffeinated tea, you're actually taking Fluid away. For every cup of coffee you drink you should technically be drinking at least one glass of Water. (I know, I don't do it either!) -
Two fills and nothing
JeninCO replied to sweeTHEArt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a gulper an that's the hardest thing I've had to learn..still learning in fact. I have to remind myseld to eat slowly and chew, chew, chew! -
In the past twenty years, I've only steadily gained weight, no matter what diet I was on, how much I exercised - I would lose 10 pounds, then gain back 15; lose 20, gain 30...all very quickly and never changing really my eating habits. Since I was banded I've lost 12 pounds and I can't remember the last time I felt such hope! I know it doesn't sound like a lot, but this is huge for me. I haven't lost 12 pounds in 10 years! I am so excited!

I love Ulla's clothes! I'm going back and that link. Jessica London's stuff is great, they hold up well, and they have some great sales.

I think people should have the choice.

I would take her aside and let her know she reeks. It's a tough call, because she might take offense and leave, but I would tell her. I've let people know they've had halitosis and body odor before, and at first they've gotten angry, but then they later told me they appreciated it.

It's the Montana tendergroin that gets me...yeeeesshhh :hungry:

If people were treated fairly under the law, why are women paid less than men, ethnic minorities treated worse than whites and PEOPLE BEATING UP GAYS? Try going up to a Republican and telling them Bush is wrong and the war should end...then, you're a traitor! If Bush has his way anything contrary to his agenda would be prosecuted.
