  1. Thank you for sharing your story and to keep updating!

the last fill i received was in July 2014 and i was pretty happy with where i was, i also learned the quirks and was very slowly losing/maintaining the weight.

About 3-4 days ago, i couldn't get any food down and Water was uncomfortable. I have a herniated disc and the pain was more bothersome than normally so i attributed my tight band to that.

Well then band pain came, a different kind of "stuck" feeling that i cant even explain. That same night i woke up coughing/vomiting. i started freaking out thinking my band slipped and got back to my doctor's office the next day (yesterday). She took out all the saline to let my stomach rest and i have an upper GI Friday to check the position of the band and if there is any damage.

I never had reflux before so i dont understand how this can just happen out of nowhere and so aggressively. I dont understand how the band can just magically become too tight and show symptoms now.

Anyhow, i am afraid to eat!!! i feel like a recovering alcoholic in a bar. Just one drink and im going to spiral.

I've been trying to stick to a liquid diet but the hunger is REAL!

Not to mention my i am in my brothers wedding June 6 and my bridesmaid dress currently fits right now... I'd be mortified if the day comes and i cant get into it.

When you were unfilled, did you have this fear? I dont know what to do about it.

I'm scared i'll end up gaining lots of weight.

  2. This sounds morbid or fraudulent but please hear me out.

I've had the Lapband for almost 2 years and it has been nothing but problems. i cant wait to get this thing out of me!

I've been busting my behind and have lost some weight but now im screwed.

To get the lapband out, my insurance covers it, no question but i cant switch unless i again meet the same criteria as pre op.

I dont have high blood pressure any longer, nor is my bmi over 40. i dont have a co morbidy. Im terrified that if i take the band out, i'll gain all the weight back. Is there a way i can "fake" a test to make it seem like i have either (per insurance) high blood pressure, sleep apnea, high cholesteral or diabetes?

My doctor can argue the issues with the band but stated a Co-Morbidy still needs to be present.

It sucks the the band hasnt been working for me in a healthy way but i cant switch to something safer. i feel like i have to choose to be miserable or be fat :-( like im being punished for trying my best on a crappy tool with some results but but now im stuck with it.

    anyone have any input?

Any way i can get around this insurance hurdle?

    Thanks-A-Bunch!

  4. I just sleep. it sounds lazy but when I was sick I would just sleep as much as I can. I'd rather do that than eat.

another weird trick (works for me at least) brushing my teeth often. I think it's because I hate the taste of toothpaste and food so it helps.

nothing scientific, just my 2 cents.

    good luck!

and force yourself to drink that Water :-)

  5. Yep' date=' I think it's a curse. When my sister-in-law came in November to visit and we went shopping she told me I really needed to go get another bra. I ended up getting a genie bra- it holds me well, comfy and doesn't make me look like I have lost to much in that area.[/quote']

ooh, I'll be looking into that! thanks

  6. I had my first fill almost 2 weeks ago and quickly learned my lessons (all different times)

#1 I didn't eat most of the day and came home starving and( like I used too) gobbled some eggs. Learned that lesson fast: Eat slower

#2 First time going out to eat after surgery. went with some friends to catch up and wasn't paying attention while talking: chew properly

#3 This may not apply to some people but I'm quite tight in the morning and can't handle such solids: Eat light Breakfast

All resulted in stuck episodes and my body immediately threw it up (I tried to work through it without success)

    All were lessons learned pre-op.

Maybe I didn't think it would happen to me, maybe I didn't realize I was doing wrong but I assure you these are lessons that won't be forgotten from now on.

  7. Interesting topic.

Some people claim that the rate (how fast) we lose weight has absolutely no signifigance on if we will have extra skin or not (I think jean McMillan says this)

There is a member on this site who lost 100+ lbs and says he has no extra skin' date=' he is in his 60's I believe. He said he thinks its because he was VERY active, drank a LOT and spent a lot of time in the sauna.

I am 23, had 100 lbs to lose, lost 46 of it now, and so far I don't really notice any excess skin. Fingers crossed that it will stay this way[/quote']

Yeah I've heard both ways, it matters, it doesn't, idk

But to gave excess in your 60's? That's amazing. I do love a sauna so maybe I'll make sure I incorporate that.

Congrats on your weight loss!, I got my first fill yesterday and they said liquids for 2 days then regular foods., I'm excited to feel a difference since I didn't have any restriction before.

Good luck to you, hopefully I'll be so luckily

  8. I'm 20' date=' had my surgery in Feb of this year at age 19 and I've lost a little over 100 pounds. I think I will have a little excess skin but not much when it's all said and done.[/quote']

Awesome! Congrats and thanks for the hope.

  9. before my surgery' date='i told everyone i knew..lol..i'm 2 months post op and when customers come into my job and ask how i lost weight,i tell them the truth...so far, everyone has been supportive...but maybe its because of the way i tell them...i am proud of myself for having the guts to make a drastic change in my life and i guess that comes through in the telling![/quote']

I wish I had those guts or was as open as you. more power to you!

  10. Thank u trikki87 of matter if fact I got a wii fitness and started working on it last Monday. Due to colder weather haven't been able to get out and ride bikes or swim so now according to the wii I'm jogging 3 miles aday in 10 min and stair steps in 10 min of 1000 steps. Hopefully i'll start seeing both scale and tape start to drop. I don't want to say this is a woman's world cause I know there r men out there that has the band I guess I'm the only one that has questions or the only man that will ask questions

Women are just more open I think.

Those "manly men" who won't ask for advice (or directions haha) will just be stuck. ask and you shall receive, well as much as we can here. hope you got something out of it. Good luck

  11. Have anyone had the lapband and kept it a secret from nosey co workers? How did you go about doing this and is it easy to be intimate without you partner feeling the port?

It's funny I tried to hide it at my job but decided to tell those around my cubicle since they will notice my absence. Most of them were interested in the lapband too. They were excited and wanted me to tel them everything, I was kind of floored. But I only told 3 people. I am definitely on board with keeping it private to those I don't know well.
