    October 2012 Bandsters

30lbs is amazing! Holy cow how have you done it in one month?! I am right there with ya on the gnaw the arm bit..I am dying to get to a better point of not needing to eat all the damn time! I'm always under calories, but it makes it harder to keep under when you are always starving!!

i was banded on 13 October and I'm starving every 2 hours! My first fill appointment is on November 10 and my weight counselor at my doctor told me that it is very important that you tell the doctor on the day what your hunger is like because that will dictate whether they give you a fill or not and if so, how much. If you aren't hungry you should tell them that you aren't hungry and see what they say. You dont want to get to restricted and not be able to keep down any food.

definitely had that but it is totally normal as far as I understand. My doctor said it is from the gas they use in surgery and it will work out of you in about a week to 10 days. try to walk or move your arms when it hits.

    9 Months And 152 Pounds

you are so inspiring! I am 2 weeks in and while I wish the weight would just disappear, your story shows me that by sticking with it, the weight will go away! Congratulations!

    October 2012 Bandsters

so this week i had a client dinner and a night out with friends who don't know i'm banded. I'm 2 weeks post-op and was fine eating soup at the restaurants, but what i found funny was how much i noticed the amount of food everyone else was eating! I have told everyone i'm on a diet trying to really control portion size and they didnt give it a second thought. It was great. And I've lost weight (although i haven't weighed myself so dont know exact amount) so I fit back into my smaller size jeans which made the whole difference going out!

could be calorie intake. you may be exercising yourself into starvation mode. you are alo building muscle which weighs more than fat. i think calories should be like 1000-1200 net per day so you should have a bit more if youre exercising loads. doc will be able to tell you though! keep me updated!

6.8 kilos since surgery is awesome! Overdoing your exercise? How do you mean? I've been doing 2 miles a day for the past 4 days at 15 minute miles on an elliptical runner. Is that too much - my over zealous desire to be skinny in the time it takes to blink may cloud my judgment on such matters! I'm so jealous you get a fill - They put a tiny amount in my band at surgery but i'm still only satisfied for about 1.5 hours each time I eat so I look forward to the fuller feeling!

Whew! Makes me feel better! Everything has been going so very well that I may be paranoid something is gonna happen! I can't fit into my work pants anymore and it is the best feeling ever so I just want nothing else to go wrong!

well its under the longest incision which is pretty much right in the middle over my stomach so I would have thought it would be the band as opposed to a port, but who knows! basically i was laying on my back and i can feel something hard under the biggest incision just running my hand over it. Maybe it is the port though. I've put in an email to my coordinator at the doctors but just wanted to see if anyone else had something like it!

I'm 10 days post banding and I'm wondering if you are supposed to be able to feel your band under your skin if you touch your stomach? Any one else able to?

I was made to wear disposable underwear during the surgery and then could put my own on after.

I had tomato soup in the hospital after the surgery. My doctor didnt make me do clear liquids only. I'd say you should be fine with tomato soup.

    New To The Band

That's great! I'm only 5 days in so not really sure how many pounds i've lost, if any yet but its great that you are losing! I'm still adjusting to my band too...sometimes it feels like air is trapped and I'm going to pop like a balloon, but hey...it's worth it to power through!

I had my first shower today too! It was like I'd never taken a shower before or something! Sponge baths are a joke...I hadn't felt really clean since I showered before going in for surgery last weekend! I get the random shoulder pain every now and again and the doctor said that was just the carbon from the surgery working its way out. I've been back to work since 2 days after surgery and walking around a lot though so I'm seriously wondering how much they put in me that it's still working its way out!

they used glue on me too! I wonder if that is something to do with it. I took off my bandages and the scabs are dry and starting to come away though so I i think that might be part of it too. I"m just doing everything not to itch them :-)

Thank God it's not just me! The itchy is new and making me nuts! I want to scratch the hell out of them but I wont. Awesome work on your nails! I do nails for some of the girls in my office and I have a couple that can't get their nails to grow for anything so I put Shellac on them. It helps them grow out anyway! I'd highly suggest it as a treat to yourself!

    October 2012 Bandsters

Hi Everyone! Really glad I found this! I just got banded on the 13th of October and I'm still in my liquid diet phase. Not restricted to Clear liquids, just creamed Soups, smoothies and Protein shakes. I"m STARVING but feeling really lucky I don't have pain and am not even on Tylenol and have been back at work since 2 days after surgery. I can't wait to move to mushy food - i"m sure i'll be sick of that diet by the end too, but seriously...my stomach needs something it can grab on to! Anyone else having itchy incision sites?
  21. I'm right there with you! My mom and dad balk at the thought of weightloss surgery and believe that anyone can lose any amount of weight with just will power. This is why I haven't told them I got banded! I just told them i'm on a strict diet and they think its great. My friends are really supportive though so that has been good. I think 24 pounds is awesome! I just got banded so I am really hoping to have lost that much in 2 months. Don't listen to your mom, losing slower is better for you anyway!

    Down 45 Pounds!

You're inspiring me! Congrats! I just got banded on Saturday and I am so looking forward to the same feeling! I can't wait to feel that good!

    October Surgery

Just got my band this past Saturday (13th October 2012) and thus far I'm doing fine. Already back at work. In response to the question about pre-op diet, I would say stick to it like glue. It really sucks for the first few days and the last few days before surgery, but I lost weight going into it and it made me so excited that my nerves about the surgery went away. I know its a long road ahead, but I am so excited about losing the weight for good and starting my real life!
