1. Ok. October 18th I had my 8th fill and hit green zone. Everything has been fine for over a month. All of a sudden, yesterday and today, I can hardly get anything down. I ate a granola bar and it went down. chips, Water, salsa etc etc is all coming back up. Or it just sits in my esophagus. I don't have acid coming up. I spent Thanksgiving in Texas and didn't drink much. I think I'm a bit dehydrated. Why today can i all of a sudden not get anything down?

  2. I'm 8 months post op and eat salad everyday. My salads have iceburg and romaine lettuce grape tomatoes' date=' thin sliced cucumbers, onions, shredded carrots and onions . I cut the lettuce small, slice the mushrooms, peel the cucumbers and I put it all in a big plastic bowl, add two tablespoons of blue cheese dressing inn it. I put the lid on the bowl and seal it. I shake the bowl until the dressing covers all the salad ingredients and I have one awesome salad. I also have absolutely no problems eating my salad either. I chew well and enjoy . So I don't think it's going to hurt you but ask your doctor if you're that concerned.[/quote']

Umm....I want you to come to my house and make me a salad lol! Your salad sounds absolutely fabulous!

  3. Hello:) I'm just over 5 months post- op and have had several fill to get to 8.5 cc in my 14cc band. I've lost 60lbs most of the time with no noticeable restriction.

For about 4 weeks I was feeling like I was just about in the green zone and lost pretty well and noticed a definite difference in what and how I needed to eat( at last) So 2 weeks ago I saw my Dr. and we decided to just try .5cc more. Since then I feel like I don't have as much help from my band. I can tell its there sometimes' date=' but not even as good as before this last fill. Anyone have any insight or have had this happen to them? Thanks :)[/quote']

I too had this problem. I've had 7 fills and one thing I've learned is our bands are extremely fickle!! My band is the most inconsistent thing in my life- it works though and I'm losing weight!

Thank you! Yes I am pretty nervous! I just don't know what to expect I've never had any type of abdominal surgery the only type I've had is back surgery and my wisdom teeth removed lol.

    4 days till surgery!

  5. I called my dr's office. They had the front desk lady call me back to explain that I can go for another fill in 3 weeks. They have to call to get it authorized via my insurance first. Wow! Crappy customer service at its finest. I have a real issue here and they want to give me another fill. I'm thinking she took more out of me then she says she did just do I have to go back in for another fill. Who knows how much their charging my insurance. I'm about sick of this lapband. I just wanna have it taken out. I felt better when I was fat. This is just a headache.

  6. There are several cases where you may feel less restriction after a fill than before. One' date=' which MiniMi addressed is that you could be losing fat around your stomach making it leaner and the band feel looser around it. Two, you were dehydrated, stressed, or something else that was keeping you tight and now you feel looser because of something else that has nothing to do with the fill. Perhaps you weren't getting enough Fluid in before so you dehydrated making your band tighter. Now you're getting more fluids in and you feel looser. Third, you've dilated your pouch or something else could be wrong. Sometimes people get a sudden feeling of relief when something is wrong with their band. This would probably be followed by acid reflux, night coughs, or possibly some other symptom.

Honestly, there were many times I got fills, had restriction initially, then it just went away as the swelling went down and I lost more weight. I would go from barely being able to drink a Protein shake right after the fill to being able to eat a whopper with a bun a few weeks later. I can't remember ever being tight at the time of getting a fill, getting a fill and immediately feeling looser though.[/quote']

When I got my fill she said she took some back out because I was too tight. She said she only pulled out .1cc, though. I'm beginning to think she took out more then that or I have a leak.

  7. I am getting banded aug 5th and was at my surgeons office today for final clearances. I was also informed that my fills are not covered u der insurance and will cost 155 per fill.

Has anyone had to pay for fills? And if so is 155.00 normal?

My insurance covers fills. Only so many though. 155 is cheap. My Dr's office charges 250.

  8. Hi ' date=' I feel the same , I finally had my first restriction, after many fills, however 3 weeks later , I feel no restriction again..., I've been trying to figure this out. I go back for another fill in about week , and will try to get an answer. I'm starting to feel as though my band is not working for me.... Keep me updated on ur restriction :-)[/quote']

How many fills have you had?

  9. First' date=' if I went in to my Dr. with good restriction, there would be no good reason to give me another fill....

Are you sure he did not take a small amount out? Telling your Dr. you were getting "Super Stuck" on food the size of a nickel would/could raise a red flag to some....

Also, I'm not clear on your "Stomach" getting full....

People speak of "Feeling" restriction.....that was never the goal of the lap band surgery IMO, although I do feel swallowing from time to time...even with Water, but not always.

The goal is "Portion Control" whether you feel anything or not.....

Last night watching TV, I had some raw veggies and dip for a snack....3-4 small pieces of carrot and celery, ans I could not continue...period. I ate very little, but knew I could not take another bite. I did not "Feel" anything other than the inability to over eat...that's portion control! That's the band talking! Bottom line that snack was next to nothing. And that is how it is with everything I eat anytime of the day.

After any fill, I always took it easy for a day or 2, all liquids, let things settle down....[/quote']

I was not in the green zone before my 6th fill. It wasn't saturating my hunger. I felt my restriction but now I don't. You mentioned feeling the swallowing. That's exactly it. I felt the swallowing before and now I don't. For me, I need to feel that because it helps with bite size and recognizing when to take another bite. I do not have control. That's how I got fat. Feeling it DEFINITELY helps with my control. Now that I can't feel it I'm struggling.

How many fills have you had? Are you struggling with the size of bites you eat? Its hard when you can't actually feel the food or restriction. I feel like its not working for me right as well.

  11. ok. I got my 6th fill on the 25th of July. Before I went in I had good restriction. If I ate anything the size of a quarter or nickel it would get super stuck. After my fill, no restriction. My stomach is getting full, but big bites and not chewing well are not bothering me. Sometimes I can feel my liquids coming back up. I don't understand why Im able to eat without getting stuck. Is this a case where my fill will kick in? Why was a tighter before my fill?

  12.
Yeah it would be miserable to have it too tight but ill find out why it's doing thy the first week of your full! I'm glad I downloaded this app cause I'm having surgery the 16 of August so I'm learning even more from here and working at the doctors office !!

Oh wow! Well congratulations! Are you nervous?

  13.
It sounds like there is not enough Fluid in your band cause your suppose to feel the restriction after your fill. At the doctors office I work at the doctor gives you some Water to make sure it goes through your band good enough and you don't throw it up. But to me it sounds like you don't have enough and it makes you over eat. But I can always find out when I get back to work I'm out of the office this week and I can fill you in on some more about it

They always have me drink. Saw a great humming bird in the image. She only put .3 in me and after I drank the Fluid it came right back up. She had to take out .1 and everything went through just fine. Anymore and ill be too tight lol.

  14.
I work at a lap band doctors office and normally if you are still hungry after you fill you need to get it tightened again to help you stay more full and full longer.

You normally wait four weeks after surgery to have a fill then every month after that when you have reached a full year of fills you normally don't have to come but every three to six months unless your having problems.

    Hope this information helps :)

I just had my 6th fill and I think it'll be my last. I've noticed with every fill I'm unusually hungry for about the first week and I don't feel the restriction for the first week. Do you know why that is? I tend to over eat after a fill. I hate it.

  15. It seems backwards to me but, does anyone feel like they are even more hungry after a fill? It seems like with every fill I'm super hungry for the first week. Also, my restriction doesn't kick in for at least a week so I tend to over eat sometimes and take bigger bites than I should. Anyone else?

  16. Deeberry I experience the same thing for about a week after each fill. Its because I don't feel my fills for about a week. Its also because you "can't" have foods. When we can't have something we want it more. I just had my 6th fill. Today I still feel the same but in about 5 more days my hunger will subside even more and ill feel the fill.

  17. There is a video on You tube that shows what happens when you drink after eating with a full pouch. It pushes the food through faster than it should go down and you become hungry again. All the above postings are correct about that.

I agree with b52. Just because you see it on YouTube does not make it true. I also saw a video on YouTube that recommends putting butter on burns, anorexia is the new healthy and acrobats for newborns is beneficial. The only correct thing you'll learn about lapband is from your surgeon and your own lapband. My surgeon says if I can tolerate it I can drink while eating and it doesn't wash the food down. I'm listening to him.
