  1. My surgeon told me that they schedule the OR for 3 hrs, but that it's generally only 1-2, depending on internal anatomy & any repairs, along w/other various personal case variances.

Omigosh! I'd be going crazy... fingers crossed for you!!! I'm as ready as I'll ever be, I guess. Last night had a pretty big argument with the mister & told him to not bother coming to the hospital... we'll see how that plays out. I won't even see him again until I get out of work tomorrow bc he'll be at work when I get home today & I'll be asleep by the time he gets home. Life here is pretty much normal. No one seems to care. I'm nervous as all get out.
  3. Welcome, Shira! you sound like you've got a wealth of information! Congrats on your surgery!
  4. I've had 15 months of waiting to help me handle it lol otherwise I'd probably be kinda crazy right now. I watched videos of the actual surgery on YouTube, & that helped a lot, truthfully. I also keep a blog, & that's been good for mental vomiting. Haha you'll do fine!

    Leak?

I'm glad to hear you've been cardiac cleared!! Yeay! That's such a positive step alone. My son has a gf... It's weird. Lol but he's almost 15, so... His younger brother on the other hand...NO desire to discuss girls at all. He's happy designing YouTube videos or chatting on skype about bronies. Oiy. Lol

    Leak?

Goodness gracious, lady!!! When is this ever gonna end for you? :/ oiy! It's definitely a hard decision... I'm not sure I'd want to endure another surgery/recovery either. Or one more hour in a hospital room for that matter! After all you've been through these last few months... if it were me, bc I'm a stoic pain in the arse baby, I'd tough it out & then cry & be p!ssed at myself when I had to do a procedure anyway. Lol not that I'm saying that's what it'll be for you. No matter what, I know you'll make the right decision.

    Sooooooo frustrated!

Hey sleeve-date-sister! crossing fingers & toes for you!! Call tomorrow & bug them. I had to do a stress test & stress echo after my EKG. Did they say why you failed? Or what other tests they're wanting to do?

    Sooooooo frustrated!

I'm scheduled for the 27th. My pre-admission testing was just blood work, too. However, if I hadn't had an EKG in October, or a Chest x-ray in Dec, I would've had those done last week as well.

    FINALLY!

WHOOOO HOOOO!! Yeay! it's a great feeling, right!
  10. Hey lady! I was just thinking about you earlier today. Realized I haven't seen you around here much. I'm so sorry you've had such a scare! Thinking of you!! ((((( <3 )))))
  11. In my surgeon's practice, the pre-op reducing diet is the same for all 3 types of patients, and the pre-op liquid diet is the same for all three types. There's no big difference between the surgeries. Whatever you had to do pre-op & immediately post-op for your band will probably be similar for your sleeve, or even pouch should you choose RNY. My concern of what you wrote is that you said you're really not comfortable with RNY. Always trust your inner voice. I hope this all gets straightened out for you soon!!

    Certain Uncertainty

Helloooooo! Nerd-pagan-fabulous fatty, here, too! they shouldn't care about your confidence. They mostly want to make sure you're not a head-case & can understand the implications of what you are about to put yourself through. I've been nerves since day 1, & that was 15 months ago! I'm glad to meet ya.

    Protein

  15. I'm planning to juice veggies in my liquid phase post-op. I already discussed it with my surgeon & he's ok with it. And I've got my ninja on standby for purees
  16. The conversion for RDA of Protein per pound of body weight, for normal healthy adults is 0.4g per lb. Anything more than that probably won't hurt you, as long as it's clean protein & you're filling the rest of your diet with healthy options. However, extra protein taxes the kidneys, so extra Fluid is essential. Water conversion is .5 oz water per lb of body weight. Anyone with kidney issues should probably definitely consult their Dr. So basically, take your weight & divide by 2. That number will be the high end for both protein & water intake.
  17. Mine looks like this: 2 WEEKS 800-1000 cal/day 75g protein/day 4-6 shakes/day, 180-250 cal/each/serving & <10g sugars Drinks: Water, sugar-free bev, broth Veggies: low-carb/non-starchy, plain, boiled, steamed: salad greens, cooked greens OK: salad sprays, lemon juice, vinegar, soy sauce NO: potatoes, corn, peas, winter squash, lentils, lima Beans, dried beans, oil, butter, margarine I've lost about 11# in the 1st week.
  18. Congrats!! I'm glad the Dr transition worked out fairly well. I had an issue with sharing paperwork, & it was just between my PCP & the NUT she referred me to! Oiy. Glad it's over. I'm currently 6 days away from surgery & the liquid diet is ok... It's hard but not impossible. Just stay focused & it will all work out.
  19. I finally was approved!!! AND...I will be sleeved one week from today, which will be exactly to the day, 15 months since I started this whole process!!
