    Stuck+ER=lesson learned

Thank you, I am feeling better today. A little sore and weak but better. I can start getting my fills again toward the end of the month. It's like having a new band all over again. Just glad it wasn't worse. I got very lucky.

    abdominal work out ideas?

Hi all, I'm looking for abdominal strengthening exercises that won't bother my port (I'm banded). I've been using the ab machine at the gym and it feels like the port is sliding down my ribs like a cheese grater as I do the crunches. Then I'm sore fir a few days afterward. Maybe there are non-machine exercises I can do? I have my one year follow up so I'll ask my physician more about why I seem to be experiencing this. Thanks!

    abdominal work out ideas?

Oh goodness. I just keep my back straight, butt down/straight and go up on my toes and elbows with forearms on the ground. I didn't realize there were many versions of planking! Good to know, thanks a bunch!

    abdominal work out ideas?

I will try squats tonight, thank you. I've been planking off and on for a month now and it hasn't seemed to bother my port so I'll plank more often, thanks!!

    Sore port area

I've been hitting the gym every other day and doing crunches on the machine and noticed my port area swollen and painful. Anyone had this issue? I don't think it flipped but it worries me non the less...

    Sore port area

Thanks Jean. It went away after a couple days and I haven't done crunches since. I need to find a way to work the abdominals without pulling my port. I can't see my doctor yet because I had to switch insurances (don't even get me started on that) and I'm waiting to hear back if I'm covered to continue seeing her. Its funny cuz I now work for the health system who did my band, but I might not be able to see that doctor? Makes no sense to me.

    Are Those New Jeans?

My closet is pretty much bare...it used to be full...and I can't "shop" in my closet any longer in my smaller clothes...its time. Time to go get new clothes. Sigh...and shoes. My feet have shrunk a whole size. Went from almost a size 26 to 16 in bottoms aand 14 in tops...since January.

    Banding 13/12/13

Highly recommend getting help with not only your needs, but your baby's needs. You will be sore and getting up and down from laying down can be a challenge, so be careful. Also, its hard to do as a new mom, but try to take it easy and get your rest. You will heal better mentally and physically if you get sleep. Best of luck!

    I Lost My Daughter-In-Law

Its amazing to think that we used to carry around that much weight. My 7 year old weights about 50 pounds and I've lost about 53 pounds thus far, and when I had to carry her up the stairs to her bedroom, I about died. Then it dawned on me...no wonder I huffed and puffed up the stairs...I used to carry all that weight on my person! I'm so happy and proud for you!!!

    Cigna and the waiting game...

I'm down 52 pounds since surgery on 1/30/13. I'd be down more but I don't work out lol. Though I'm gonna start. I need to buy new work out clothes which I ordered today cuz all my other ones are too big for once!
  15. So I have Cigna insurance and the clinic faxed all the completed paperwork last Wednesday (01/09). Now I get to anxiously wait by the phone. I was wondering, those who have Cigna, how long did it take from fax to phone call?? I might start bugging them towards end of next week (give them a full week).

    Cigna and the waiting game...

Yeah its hard waiting to hear but before you know it, you'll be scheduling your op appointment! Things have been wonderful! First couple days after post op can be hard, make sure to follow your doctor's instructions to the T. Finding the green zone can take time and everyone is different. I'm hear if you have anymore questions or want more details, you can message me anytime.

    Pre op consultations

I had required 3 month physician supervised nutrition classes before I could be approved by insurance. Within that time, the bariatric clinic required blood work, EEG, EKG, sleep study, nutrition classes (which I was already doing) psychological eval, physical therapy eval, nurse practitioner eval and of course the surgeon. I got it all done within 3 weeks. I could get like 3 appointments done at a time though so that was nice. Best of luck!
  20. I've not had cosmetic surgery done, but I've known a few women who have gotten breast implants and I plan on getting my mid section and breast done after I'm done losing weight. From what I've seen of them and from what they've told me, it is a pretty big shock post op. Especially if you've had a smaller chest and got some pretty big implants. If does take a while for them to settle, but they WILL settle. I remember hugging them a few months afterward and it felt like two rocks were poking my chest. I was like, man if thats what they feel like, count me out! But then after about a year, they were lower and felt more "normal". I dont need bigger breasts, I need fhem put back to where they should be and filled out more, but I want smaller breasts. I've had C's since I was 12 and I wasn't a big girl. Now i have trip E's (down from F's pre band) So I will have to do some major research and look at a lot of pictures and talk to a few surgeon's before I decide on what I would like my eventual chest to look like.
  21. Mine hurt for 3 weeks post op. It will get better and before you know it, you will totally forget about it! Hard to believe now, but it will!

    Seen Dark floating dots

Its usually due to blood pressure being too low. And that could be for many reasons. Standing up too fast, or any change in position. Dehydration is the most common. Sometimes medication can be a factor. Or depending on how it happens and how long it happens for, it could be an eye issue. Either retinal detachment which I highly doubt or optic migraines which aren't big deals. Just drink more water and take it easy. I honestly don't think it warrants a doctor visit unless it keeps happening. Keep track of what preceeds and supersedes the event if it keeps occuring cuz if you do go in, the physician will want to know.
  23. My glass don't fit my face anymore, they slide right off, and so does my wedding ring...hahaha!
