  1. Again, thanks for all of the great comments! Hopefully this will provide the assurance & motivation I was looking for when I first started.

@Catfish87- Now that it has really warmed up I have been a riding fool - 130+ miles this month thus far, including 66 last week and 45 this! That is on top of lifting 4 to 5 days a week, which can make for some rubbery legs.

I will definitly check in more often.

How ironic! I was just thinking about you yesterday, wondering how you were doing.....guess you answered that question with a big AWESOME!!!!!! Congrats!!

You really need to continue to get on here and post more of your successful accomplishments. Keep on Peddlin' my friend!

  2. Thought I would check in. Everything is still going awesome... maybe better! Had my 1 year anniversary late Feb; my wife's is the end of this month (she had gastric bypass). We are down a combined 242 pounds (Me 360 to 225, her 260 to 153)!!! We workout daily lifting/cardio, plus bike rides or hikes on Saturday and/or Sunday.

Here is a recent comparison of our awesome new US!

  3. Patience... this is a marathon not a sprint It has been two weeks. My doctor wanted to see 2-3 lbs a week, after about a month.

There are hundreds of posts that say the exact same thing. Keep doing what you are suppose to do, let your body heal, and very soon you will see results.

When it starts you will know it and you will be swiming in your clothes B)

  4. Two of my favorites are:

Syntha6 - great taste and a large variety of flavors. It also has heathly fats & 5g Fiber per scoop. Throw it in bottle with a few cubes of ice and in a few shakes disolved and delicious!

Hexapro - I am currently using this. chocolate is crazy good. Blend of several Protein types. Very, very satisfying.

Links are for info. You can buy them locally at Vitamin Shoppe

  5. I like to workout or ride on an empty stomach, but I do like pre-workout/energy/endurance supplements. I currently am using this and really like it. I get a nice boost, but not jittery or over-stimmed. Plus the creatine and beta alanine help with muslce endurance.

If I am going on a long ride (more than 12 miles) I will bring a GU packet to suck down at the 8-10 mile mark.

I do not think they will hurt. I am pretty certain any doctor or NUT will say not to use it because of the stims and liability.

  6. The picture on the left is my wife and I, May 2012. The picture on the right this past weekend a combined 160+ pounds lighter. I was banded the end of Feb 2013, my wife had bypass the end of April. So much in our lives has changed... 4 mile walks/jogs, 7 miles hikes, 15+ mile bike rides. And the bedroom... HOT!!!

Getting married, having our kids, and making this change... best things we have ever done!

  7. I would say it really is no one elses business, so I have no problem with someone withholding the fact that they had WLS. The misconception that WLS is a easy way out is real... I have been told, oh I thought you were losing weight through hard work. But that doesnt bother me. Personally I like telling people and will continue for anyone who asks.

The reason I got the band is because someone else shared that they had WLS. Maybe me sharing willl change someone elses life.

  8. I proudly tell people. I dont think it is something you should be ashamed of. I did have a co-worker tell me, "Oh I thought you were losing weight from hard work" I told him if you dont think these results came from hard work you are sadly mistaken.

I am neither ashamed or embarassed. You are down almost 50 lbs!!! Be proud of what YOU have accomplished.

  9. Epic ride yesterday... 28.3 miles in 2:22. Even better personal bests on average speed. First 13 miles at 13 mph; 11.9 for the ride. It was long, and I was tired. Hit a brick wall at about 24 miles or so... those last 3-4 miles not a lotta fun.

That put me over 57 miles for the week... last 3 weeks 45, 45, 57.

Today is field day, but I should be able to get in 10-12 this evening :)

  10. Ha I had cheese itz and sour patch kids.

    At the same time?!?!?! :wacko::blink::P

The fact that you realize and regret it means you will be ok. We have all slipped up... you get back on track and punish yourself with an extra 10 min on treadmill, an extra couples sets of weights, or one more walk around the block.

  11. We have XBOX360 with Kinect and it is such a blast! Not needing to hold controls is a plus, the minus is the Kinect needs a little more room as you cannot be too close to the TV. I have used the Wii and it is fun as well... if price is a factor, you can probably get a Wii for cheaper.

Does the Wii have as large a variety of exercise specific titles? I know the 360 has many great titles plus the various dancing and action/sports games.

  12. Hit it pretty hard today:

21.3 miles in 2 hours at an avg of 10.7 mph. Not very fast, but I ride a mountain bike, and my average was thrown off because the auto-pause fuction didnt work, so around mile 14 when I was hydrating it was tracking  . I usually average a little higher, in the 11 mph range.

It was HOT out! If it wasn't 100 deg when I started it was at least that when I finished. Drank 64 oz of Water while on the ride, plus a 20oz Aquafina as soon as I left the park. Still thirsty right now.
