I was recommended Max Effect Liquid Multi and its really good. Great Vitamin profile and a bunch of other goodies. They also have a 30 shot pack if you need something portable, which is what I use. portable http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?fromCatId=cat12358&id=U9-1003 bottle http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?fromCatId=cat12358&id=U9-1004

Any February 2013 Bandsters?
grownazzkid replied to laughingatlilies's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also have Federal BCBS, started in Oct, paperwork was submitted Jan 14, approval letter was received in the mail Jan 22. Going under the knife 2/21!! You have come this far, its coming! -
There are several good ones available at Vitamin Shoppe: For just a protein shake, Myofusion is probably one of the best tasting with lots of great flavor options and a solid profile. For more of a meal replacement I like LeanPro8, very good profile with healthy fats. Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry are all very good. I have heard good things about Syntrax Nectars but I have never tried them. Good thing about Vitamin Shoppe, if you do not like it bring it back and they will let you exchange it. Dont be afraid of fats with protein shakes. They are usually high quality, omega3/6 and/or medium-chained glycerides. You need these especially since many essential vitamins are fat solubile, meaning they are better absorbed when consumed with fats. You do not want sugar, but that is easy to avoid because most have very low sugar content.

I wonder if would be good mixed in Mio, have you tried those? It is the only thing I drink now, water & Mio. There are also other companies that made similar products, Crystal Lite has several, I have tried the peach belini and it is great. The Mio Orange-Tangerine is good, so is the iced tea, & lemonade. Sugar-free & zero calories.

Protein Shakes....please help
grownazzkid replied to KeeSh32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Body Fortess has 2g of fat... that is not a big deal. Generally speaking I would not stress fats in your protein. They are negligible in quantity and usually health fats. I second passing on GNC, Vitamin Shoppe is more competitive and the people seem to be more friendly. Optiumu Nutrition 100% is a solid whey, though they taste is sketchy to me. Try one, Vitamin Shoppe will let you exchange it if you do not like it. Gaspari Myofusion is a solid protein blend and is delicious! They also have a new product Myofusion Elite with some great flavors. If you want an isolate AllMax IsoFlex is really good as is Gaspari IntraPro. -
Got my approval letter!!! Actually they were surprised how fast it came back, 8 days. Based on that they have moved up my surgery date, Feb 21. Very excited to take the next step in my journey.

Thanks and I have joined the Feb 2013 Banders.

How AWFUL are these protein shakes?!
grownazzkid replied to This Girl Is Losing It's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do yourself a favor, go to Vitamin Shoppe and get Isopure smoothies in the cold drink section. I have had both Orange Berry and Berry Pomm, incredible! 190 cal, 32g Protein. You're welcome -
Just had my last consultation, so my paperwork will be forwarded to my insurance (BCBS Fed) for approval. My surgery date is tentatively scheduled for 3/19. How long have people waited to hear from BCBS? Also I was told for out of pocket to expect about $3000, can anyone confirm the accuracy of that?

That is what I have, Basic. That sounds like a good deal, thank you. I will be sure and check on any doctor fees!

Just had my initial consultation with True Results in Austin, TX. So beings my journey. Want to also thank everyone in advance here since has been my primary source of information with regards to deciding to undergo WLS, and specifically to go with Lap Band. Based on my roadmap my surger date will be in March 2013... seems so far, but I imagine time will go quickly. Anyone else here been to the True Results in North Austin? I have BCBS Fed insurance which will cover based on my BMI, but I am not sure what my total out of pocket will be.
-
What area are you in? I am in the prcocess of relocating to Austin but my family is still in Kansas City. My wife was looking for a doctor but there do no seem to be very many in the KC area.

I just had my first consultation with True Results in Austin, TX. The requirements for BCBS are not too bad... psych eval, 2 years of 40+ BMI or 35-39 with two co-morbids (HBP, sleep apnia, diabetes...). You also have to go through 90 days of nutrition and diet counseling, no drug use for a year, no tobacco use for 6 months. I am still not clear on out of pocket... hoping to get more information on that in the next visit.
