Buy a Wii or XBox for Fun Exercise

We have XBOX360 with Kinect and it is such a blast! Not needing to hold controls is a plus, the minus is the Kinect needs a little more room as you cannot be too close to the TV. I have used the Wii and it is fun as well... if price is a factor, you can probably get a Wii for cheaper. Does the Wii have as large a variety of exercise specific titles? I know the 360 has many great titles plus the various dancing and action/sports games. http://www.squidoo.com/the-best-kinect-fitness-games

    Banded Bikers (July)

Hit it pretty hard today: 21.3 miles in 2 hours at an avg of 10.7 mph. Not very fast, but I ride a mountain bike, and my average was thrown off because the auto-pause fuction didnt work, so around mile 14 when I was hydrating it was tracking . I usually average a little higher, in the 11 mph range. It was HOT out! If it wasn't 100 deg when I started it was at least that when I finished. Drank 64 oz of Water while on the ride, plus a 20oz Aquafina as soon as I left the park. Still thirsty right now. http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/215721405?country=us〈=en&measure=imperial&o=course&fb_source=feed_opengraph

    Morning Gas

I think it is normal regardless. I don't have gas pain, but I wake up in the middle of the night and/or morning with a serious fart ready to go... gross but funny, I think I could fill a balloon!

    Biking Banders

Nothing more frustrating than getting derailed early in a ride. But I guess that is a little better than half way out I'm taking a day off, after 6 straight. But I will be back on it tomorrow.

    Biking Banders

Howdy fellow riders! I have been on a tear this last week riding 80+ miles over the last 6 days. I do a mix of cycling (manicured paths) & mountain bike trail riding... both with my 2013 GT Timberline 1.0 29'er. I do not like to ride on the street, so my options are pretty limited. Luckily, I have two great locations to choose from - both less than 15 min drive. Anyone else use Endomondo for tracking? If so, send me a friend req... Here is a link of my tracked rides. http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/user/9051260
  6. Chicks dig scars... I made mine worse j/k i dunno... I'm just a guy and didnt really care
  7. I have dropped breads & sandwiches all together. I am afraid to even try, just so dry (that rhymes lol). I am not a sandwich wrap kinda guy, but I have had corn and flour tortillas (tacos & burritos) with no issue. Corn was better than flour I thought as it breaks down more. I did have an Unwich at Jimmy Johns, but it just wasn't the same... I do miss sandwiches.

    Eating out

Go wherever he wants, let him get whatever he wants and you do what your suppose to. Get soup, maybe a healthier appetizer. A little bit of anything is OK.
  9. Mio... I have no fewer than 5 different flavors in my cupboard or at my desk. There are also similar products from other brands. All zero calories.
  10. The biggest thing you need to manage right now are your expectations. It will take 2-3 weeks for things to "settle". You should probably be having your first fill around week 4 and follow-ups every 2-3 weeks until you are in the green zone. Also know that weight is not going to be peeling off... the band will be steady, constant weight loss. I lose 2lbs a week... EVERY week. I was on vacation for a week did not eat the most strict, consistent diet, and lost 2lbs. My typical week eating good, exercising 3-5 times a week... you got it 2lbs. I am way ahead of my projected weighloss targets and my doctor is very pleased. It doesn't sound like a lot, but it will be. 2lbs a week is more than 100lbs in a year! You are going to be OK. Take a deep breath, sit down and remember; this is not a a weightloss sprint, this is a lifestyle change. Also keep this in mind - you will will get whichever you want more... the weightloss or the donut. You decide.
  11. I didn't and you probably wont. Get as much as you can with the ultimate goal of 60-80g. It will get easier as time goes. First two weeks post-op I had no desire at all to eat.... I was eating 300-500 cals a day. Every week I would be able to eat more and more. Now I am able to eat 9-1100 cals a day, which is where the doc wants me.

    Protein Balls and Protein Shakes

Syntha-6 is awesome... its the only protein powder I use. It is a satisfying quality blend with heathy fats and 5g of fiber per scoop. Choco-PB is very good, also check out Chocolate Mint (if you like mint). IMO that is the best flavor... litterally liquid Andes mints. I also love the Strawberry,

    my before and after

    Go on girl! Good job!
  14. Terry is right, 14-1600 calories is WAY too much. I am a man almost 6ft, 265lbs, and I am eating 1-200 calories a day. You should be shooting for ~1000, most of which is from Protein. Your profile does not provide a lot of information. Looks like you have been banded for the better part of a year (10 mo)... how much weight have you lost? When was your last adjustment? How long has it been since you lost any weight? Sounds like a visit with doc/NUT is your first order of business.
  15. Depends on your insurance. I guess they have 30-45 days generally speaking. For me, I have BCBS Fed, got my approval in a week.
  16. Took me more than three weeks to get any appetite back. Virtually had to make myself drink shakes or I could go all day without a bite. Do you know how many cc's your doctor put in your band, and what size it is? I have a 14cc band and my doctor started me at 4cc, which I think is on the high end based on other threads. That would definitely play a part I imagine.
  17. I got 4 cc's initially, and 2 cc's each in my first two fills. I have the 14cc band, doc says green zone is typically 8-11 cc's.

First Fill and I am Sacred

So you got cut open and had a swisty tie wrapped around the top of your stomach and you are worried about a fill LOL! Just kidding... Its like getting a shot... needle pinch, a little tightness, and it is over before you know.

    Food Suggestion???

I like to do single pot type meals... for instance, I will make a spagetti sauce with groung turkey, fresh tomato, mushrooms, onion, black olives, & bell pepper - have a scoop of that, no Pasta though, but you could if you wanted to I guess. This week I made something of a burrito filling - ground beef (93% lean), tomato, onion, ciantro, and pinto Beans with jalapenos. And another favorite is a Chipolte type bowl with grilled boneless/skinless chicken thighs (diced up), mix with some black beans, onion, and a your favorite salsa. You can, of course supplement chicken for ground beef/turkey.

    Favorite Unflavored Protein Powder

I personally do not use unflavored, but I know a lot of people use either Unjury or Isopure. Inexpensive is a relative term... these are not cheap, but high quality with a good cost/serving ratio.

    I gained 3lbs since yesterday

I personally do not recommend weighing yourself daily. I only weigh myself every 2 weeks when I go into clinic. That is it. If you do want to weigh yourself daily do not react to large swings. Track it and look for trends over a 5-7 day span.

    Coffee

I dunno where your band is but mine is on the outside of my digestive tract .But seriously drink coffee if you want to I say. I do not drink it because it fills me up and then I do not eat. Biggest threat would be high calorie coffee drinks with lots of sugar or whole milk and flavored creamers.

    Protein shots

They are full of cheap collegen protein... not going to hurt you but nothing you would want to live off of for an extended period of time. I used a few over the two weeks of pre-op diet. More than anything the texture was kinda gross & they are very sweet.
  24. Good job and good for you! You look several years younger !!
