Hey everyone five months post op coming up for most of us. How is everyone feeling? I am down 37 pounds. Which puts me at 240.4. I am running my first 5k in a month. So I feel good but wish it would drop faster

It sounds like no one is having sever negative reactions. How is your couch to 5k going? I am on week 6. I mean it may not be pretty 245 pounds running, but never thought I would be able to run 15 minutes at one time.

I was banded 1/10 and I am down 32 pounts. I am training for a 5k with the couch to 5k program. Believe me it is hard with all my flab but I am doing it!

Sorry guys I have been out of touch. I am busy at work since I hae gone back. I am one month post op today. I can start regular food next Friday. However, I have not lost weight since the surgery. My first fill is on the 22nd. Anyone else having the same problem? I haven't been cleared to exercise yet.
Also, has anyone had any wine or alcohol yet? I am craving wine.

Oh and with comfort I used the couch and used 5 pillows. After about a week and a half I went into a bed.

Hey guys. How is everyone doing? I am 3 1/2 weeks post- op. However, I have not lost any weight since the liquid diet. I am on the pureed diet. I hopefully will begin loosing soon. I have heard of people not loossing, and I am hoping I am not one of those. How is everyone feeling/doing?

I am on day 4 out of 5 for liquid diet. I get banned on the 10th. However, I called because the liquid diet is not settling with me right and asked if I could take tums. Now they may cancel my surgery. My surgeon thinks I am sick. This is not the case. I should have never called. I am freaking out right now. Everything that could have gone wrong has for my surgery. I had a hernia and it is a medium one so that is a concern then they thought I had a decificany which could have caused Addison's disease. I don't have it. I will have started the process in march. It has almost been a year.
Also, if you haven't been put on a liquid diet and are doing it I would suggest adding maybe pudding. It will help the stomach.

I am on the 2nd day of the pre-op diet. I am a miserable person and just want a hamburger, hoagie, and friend... well just about everything. The liquid diet is making my stomach upset. I can't wait until week 2 pudding. haha. Why do you have to lose more weight after you were approved by your insurance company? I am getting banded on the 10th and I am nervous also

I am going to be banded in January, but I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16. I was diagnosed from blood tests. However, my birth control "masked" my PCOS from showing on bloodwork. However, it came out full force a year and a half ago. PCOS has infertility symptoms, Hair growth, bellly fat in the middrift, and other symptoms. Metformin can help people; however, this drug made my violently ill and could not eat without getting sick. That is why I went with the band. This is the only other tool right now which helps PCOS. I would advise to contact an Endo they should be able to help you.

It def is a great way

That is awesome. I was done in November and my date is Jan 10th... hopefully you will be banded by end of January. There is a lot of 10th out there. We will all have to check in. No pre-op diet? Super Jealous. Mine is 5 days. My pre-op is on Monday

Hello,
I am getting banned in January and I wanted to put this question out there. How do you answer questions to people who ask how you have lost the weight? Also, how do you approach the subject with someone you started to date after the band? Just curious.
-
I am from Pittsburgh. I have my Surgery with Dr. Eid in January. It was suppose to be in November but he was booked.
-
Kari,
Yea I would be going over those situations in my head too. I am sure they will tell you a good plan if you let them know. I am so nervous about everything at this point
-
Kari,
My surgeon recommends two weeks off for those who have jobs just sitting and computer and 6 weeks for those who stand or have to lift. Does your work have medical leave or disibility options?

Catlady what a great birthday present. I do have to do an all liquid clear diet. I am dreading that. But I was talking to my surgeon and he said they recommend no alcohol for 3 months however wine is like Water he said. It goes down easy. So I was thankful for that.
However, I am nervous I have my pre-op on monday I have gained 30 pounds since my six months even though I am still on a 1300 carlorie diet. I had to go off my meds so we will see yikes.
One of my biggest concerns is how to answer all the questions about my weight loss.

I am one month from Surgery January 10th. I am excited and nervous. I have actually gained 20 pounds since I was approved due to PCOS and going off of birthcontrol. It is okay though I am ready for my pre-op appointment next week. Does Mexico have different regulations? I know you said your scheduled for a surgery in Mexico? I am nervous for the recovery and I am a wine drinker so that should be interesting
-
I have the same thing. My surgery is scheduled in January. One month from today. I have a hernia too. Mine is medium sized. They suggested the sleeve but don't want that. They said they will repair it during surgery but my tightening of the band may not be as tight as others.
-
Keep your heads up. I am sure it is fustrating but look at the journey you guys have come through. I am sure it will work out. Have you called Aetna to talk to them to see what they are looking for? Keep us updated. My surgery was finally scheduled for 1/10

Hello,
I got my approval from Aetna, My surgery is scheduled from 1/10, and then I get a call. My cortisol levels are low. I have to go see and Endo which is fine, but everywhere is telling me they are booking for March. I started this journey last March. I am feeling discouraged and don't think I am going to be able to get the band. They said something about Addison Disease?

I know what you mean sometimes I think I am hungry but a snack helps. It sounds like your band may be too tight? I don't have my band super tight as I want it for an aid. I know it's a weird idea. So that would be a normal meal for me. I am down 40 pounds. Do you feel the band is too tight or is it mental? I find every day a challenge, but it's getting easier.
