  1. I was feeling a little low about how slow my weight loss is going. This weekend it got warm here and I decided to try on some of my summer clothes....I tried on this pair of jean shorts that I couldn't even get up to see how close they were to fitting...They fit!!! I couldn't believe it!!! I wore them yesterday with no problems! I carry most of my weight in my lower stomach, so this was huge! I was doing the happy dance!!!!!
  2. We went to our son's house this weekend to meet our new granddaughter about 8 hours away. We ate every meal out, I did pack some snacks. I was afraid to get on the scale this morning. I kept praying please, no more than 2 pounds...I lost!!! I was so surprised!!!! WOOO HOOO!!!!!
  3. I am just over a month. I have been hitting 500-600 calories. The surgeon & NUT said I should be shooting for 800 and 80g of protein with approximately 1/2 of my calories from protein then 25% fat & the other 25% from carbs. I must say it is hard to do!!! I have been stalled, but the other day my husband was walking slower behind me. I asked him what he was doing...he said he was checking out my butt!!! LOL he said he could tell I'm losing!! Success!!!!
  4. I eat scrambled eggs, string cheese, tuna salad, ricotta bake, chicken salad, soft chicken...your food needs to be swallowed the consistency of apple sauce, so any high protein, low fat/carb food is great! My doctor said the more protein I can get from real food the better it is.
  5. Please contact your PCP. With losing that much for that long you are probably dehydrated. There are meds that can help with the vomiting and diarrhea so you can keep in some fluids
  6. I was sleeved 2/19 and have lost a total of 30 pounds-11 pre-op and 19 post-op. I have been having trouble with concentration and staying on task at work. Am I not getting enough of something??

I have an appointment on Tuesday with NUT but I called too. Gave her the numbers and she said I'm right on for my intake...gonna try and increase

    brain fog

I have been stalled for about a week. I'm getting about 400-500 calories, 50 protein, 64oz fluid. My protein is about 50% of my calories. Taking vitamins...why do I have such brain fog?
  9. My surgeon said I can swallow pills the size of my pinky nail or smaller but no capsules. If the pill is bigger I would half it.
  10. For gas pain in shoulder, what I did was when walking I would raise both arms over my head and then back down, kind of like 1/2 a jumping jack or make a large circle with my arms. I would do this several times while walking and that pain went away pretty quickly
  11. This is what I was dealing with too. My surgeon said to try a skinny straw and it has really helped. Helps me to regulate how much in each sip much better. They usually say straws are a no no but some people it helps.
  12. Also walk as much as possible. It helps move the air
  13. I was sleeved the 19th. I was great in the hospital. Came home day after surgery. I was walking a lot. Then I started having trouble getting enough liquid. I was on full liquids. I was having pain with every swallow. Ended up in ER on the 26th dehydrated. They had trouble getting an IV started. Finally got it & pumped a whole bag in in an hour. All the blood work was fine so they sent me home. Dr said to move to soft stage and use a straw. I also take gas X with every meal. Doing better with this. I don't know but maybe because my stomach empties slow may have something to do with it. On the positive, I lost 11 pounds in one week!!!! Now if I could just go to the bathroom I think I will begin losing again!

    new sleever

I have pain right below my breastbone. Every swallow, no matter how small. I feel like I have to burp but it is painful. I called the Dr last week and he told me to try sippy cups, this did nothing. I'm getting frustrated. Anyone else have something like this?

    So gross...

I tried tomato soup last night and after 2 bites I had so much pain! Even through the night I had pain....not doing that for a long time!!! I am 6 days out.

    3 days out

I am not slurping, just the small amount is what I meant. I did jello, that was a little better, not every swallow. I am literally only taking in a slight trickle down my throat when I do sip now. That seems a little better.
  18. With every swallow I get a pain then I feel like I need to burp. If I don't the next one is worse until I do burp. I was told burping is a sign of drinking too fast, but this is definitely not the case. Is this normal?

    3 days out

I am taking very small sips-like it's hot or using a baby spoon only part full
  20. I would suggest using a saline wash like the netti pot. I have used this for years and know it's safe. It helps clear the sinuses with no drugs. You can also just get the salt and lay on the bed with your head hanging over. Then fill your nose with the saline. It will bubble up into your sinuses. Let it there for a few minutes then let it drain out into a bucket. You'll be amazed at what comes out -it may take a few times to get clear.

    1 day post op

I am 2 days post op and walking is my friend! I got up to my room and 2 hours later began walking. I walked every hour and by evening I was walking 1/2 mile each time. I did get up twice through the night and walk 1/2 mile each. While walking I also did some arm raises to move the gas since I started getting shoulder pain. I found that raising both arms at same time ( kind of like a jumping jack) allowed the gas to move easier. I continued walking yesterday and did 2 & 1/2 miles before coming home. I am not taking pain meds and not doing bad. Planning on continuing walking. The gas pain is the worst part so far and I think if I can keep it moving I will be fine.
  22. It really depends on your pain threshold. I had my sleeve surgery Tuesday. I didn't have morphine I had the lortab drip. I only used it at night. I went home yesterday. Doing good at home. I only took Tylenol last night and had a pretty good sleep but I know I have a high pain tolerance.
  23. I have been to my first meeting a few weeks ago and having my first appointment with the surgeon soon. I am looking forward to sharing this with others who understand! Good luck everyone!
