  1. Hello everyone, i hope that everyone is having a great day.

I wanted to find out if anyone else was having the same problem as i am...Basically, i got a second fill on my band and it was fine but now when i eat ANY kind of LEFTOVERS, i throw up because it gets stuck and will not go down. The really strange thing to me is that it is only left overs because when i sit and eat it freshly cooked or whatever, it goes down just fine. Can anyone help? Im trying to figure out if this is actually the case or if it is something else that is causing it.

I really appreciate everyone taking the time to read my post and responding (if you do LOL)

  2. Scot' date=' are you supposed to see the max results in the 1st 6 months?

Yes, im trying to be excited. I still see the same person in the mirror...

Does working out make a huge difference? Im getting back into the gym this week....[/quote']

Sunshine 412, I'm not sure when you are supposed to see the max results, however, my doctor did tell me that it was normal to lose a lot of weight at the beginning depending on your body and how it responds to the WLS.

Honestly, it took me taking a before and current picture side by side to tell the difference. It is hard for you to see a difference because you look at yourself everyday. I have always heard (not sure how true it is) that you don't notice a difference till after you have lost 20lbs or more.

As far as working out, it is recommended. However, I was told you had to wait 6 weeks after your surgery or till you see your doctor before you start working out again because it can damage your wounds and or put a strain on your body. I have yet to work out (not including walking as I always do that) but I am also going to sign up for a gym membership later this week. I want to tone more than anything because that helps prevent all the extra skin, or at least helps cut it down. Also, muscle burns fast, so the more muscle you build the faster you will lose fat from your body.

  3. Again....think about the Golden Rule.

This is a public forum and everyone is entitled to their opinion. In my opinion' date=' people need to take what they can use and leave the rest behind. We are all adults and there is no reason to be calling each other names.

I agree with you, however, I want to be told the truth and not for everything to be "sugar coated" to not have my feelings "hurt" ... I feel and in MY OPINION, if your adult enough to have the surgery then your adult enough to hear the truth. My doctor was up front and honest with me and I appreciate that because that's how I am.

  4. Yes it WAS RUDE. I have read many of her replies to people and she thinks she is the only person who has ever been banded. She's a KNOW IT ALL person and she is a big mouth. You on the other hand must b just like her. THIS IS FOR SUPPORT TO HELP PEOPLE WHO DO SCREW UP. if your going to be griped out on here then what come here for help. TRY STARTING 2013 with a LITTLE COMPASSION AND NICENESS.

Just like her?? YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW ME...you must have really low self esteem or one of those people who screw up and can't lose weight and has to blame everyone else but yourself. Before you start making personal attacks on people maybe you should know them first. I have also read her posts and responses and she is not rude, she is supportive of a lot of people and has a lot of positive stuff and advise for people. You need to grow up and quit being a bully who finds something wrong with everything that people say.

  5. You r just a mean opinionated woman. I see your post all the time. U r not nice and I know many on here who can't stand you

She wasn't being rude, she was telling people how it is and I support what she said. If your not going to follow what the doctors told you then don't complain about it when you screw up and don't like being told the truth, period.

  6. You look good Scott :) i hope i can do as well as you.... i want to look really good for my birthday in april

Thank you sunshine. I am about half way to meeting my goal weight. My profile picture was taken 3 days before surgery and then a week and a half after...I was amazed. You still have 4 months and I am sure you will look great.

  7. I had a diet coke addiction prior to surgery. Knowing that i could cause myself physical harm by drinking it has kept me away. Im a high risk patient so failure is not an option. Its tough but im slowly doing what i need to do

That is awesome, congratulations! I was the same way with soda and would drink 3-4 a day before WLS and now I am staying well away from them and sticking to Water. I just don't want to take any chances of screwing anything up.

  8. Drink whatever... just don;t come on here whining when you don't lose weight or you have problems with your band failing you! Do you want to lose weight or not? Suck it up you are old enough for surgery' date=' you are old enough to do what is right.

Sorry, not feeling generous or loving today. Life is what you make it![/quote']

I agree Cheznoel. Do what you want but dot cry about it afterwards. With me, I try this and that and see how my body reacts (weight up or down) and how I feel.

  9. My drink of choice is Jack and Coke. Instead of doing the coke, I went to 50 Lite Cranberry juice...don't knock it before you try it LOL. I had my first drink 3 weeks after surgery and had no problems. My doctor said you can do coke, but let it sit over ice for 15-20 minutes before drinking to cut down the carbonation, just FYI.

  10. Minime I asked if I could have some veggies and they said not yet but I can have Beans and potatoes... Makes no sense. I wish I could have some zucchini that was one I asked about specifically. All the mushies they told me are high protien items like beans' date=' cheese, Peanut Butter, yogurt etc but no veggies. :([/quote']

Maddib76 that is really strange because on the diet I got from my surgeon, I am not allowed Beans, potatoes, rice, bread or potatoes BUT I am allowed over cooked vegetables. I'm wondering why your doctor said no vegetables.

  11. Are you using a phone app to track your food? It not hard at all. Every time you put something in your mouth you enter it.

Your dr is right.. You are doing fine and when you reach the green zone life will. Be easier... I promise. But in the mean time you need to track your calories and portion and measure your food of the chance

    of loss is very slim.

    Congratulations on making this work!!

Floridays, what phone app do you use? I would love to have that instead of writing everything down at the end of the day. Is it for iPhone?

  12. I was banded on Wednesday' date=' on Friday I flew home -- six hours in the air. Aside from being really uncomfortable due to gas and incisions and being post op, there were no issues. People fly for the surgery all the time.[/quote']

Shackwacky: I never thought about that. Good point. Thanks.

  13. Hello everyone. I am in my final phase of the " waiting for insurance" 3 month wait period. I am super excited and wanted to goall out and lose a few extra lbs before my last appt with the surgeon the day before thanksgiving.

If any of you would like to join in' date=' lets go!

In an effort to prepare myself for the pre op diet, i am doing a Protein, fruit and veggie diet for 17 days.

Starting Sunday, I will have 3 Protein shakes a day.

No more than 3 Snacks a day. Backup shakes, bars, veggies or fruits for needed fuel for exercising.

I will exercise 7 days of the week. Now i am not talking about killing my body in the gym everyday for twelve hourz. My goal is 1 hour a day. Walking, taking the kids in the wagon, wii fit. Etc. I will use this time to give my time to others. Cleaning a loved ones house. Cleaning my own attic. Take the time to focus on the goal.

Another goal is at least 6 hours of sleep per day. Sometimes i dont know when to stop moving..

We can post hour daily weekly progress here or start an email group. Doesnt matter.

I will say i have done this for a week. In an effort to support a then soon to be bander, i did the liquid diet with her from the date of her approval until the day of her surgery. What a week! But it made me all the happier and more comitted.

I'm also doing my surgery the day before Thanksgiving and am very excited about it. I am starting my pre surgery diet Monday. I started getting in the habit of drinking a protin shake for Breakfast and eating healthier for i can get my body into the hood and healthy habits before actually starting the diet. Good luck and good luck with the surgery.

  14. Scotland' date=' Really? I have not heard this..hmmm. I heard flat was ok. I dunno if its even worth risking it..[/quote']

Banderina, I am with you. I don't think I want to take the risk. I think I would rather have the fear of thinking that its going to be really uncomfortable and that I won't feel good. Hey the good thing about that is it will make me not want to drink cokes that are bad for you anyways.
