Got the call today and I'm scheduled to arrive at the hospital at 7:15 am and surgery at 9:15!! What should I be expecting? Do they give you anything to calm your nerves?!!

My doctor informed me that you get within 6-8 weeks, diff states diff rules maybe...I'm in MO

I honestly don't think I am going to make it. I am so hungry. I will kill someone for a cheeseburger right now.I really don't think my mind is in the right place. The only things I looked forward to were eating and sleeping; they were the only times I stopped thinking about how miserable I am.
Please hang in there. We all have been there before and trust me it is not easy at all!! My diet only got better on day 5 things seemed to mellow in a way. Just keep reminding yourself you are getting your nutrition and are not starving!!

How long did the actual surgery take?!!! Feel better!

yep' date=' they are gonna cancel the surgery and then kick you out of your house and then cut all your hair off.... <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
oh my heavens.......ok you ate it. most likely (pooped it out)....dont do it again
get back on course and stay on the liquid diet.....(you will come across those who have cheated and say its not a big deal, but it is...you remember why you are doing this) to make yourself well....you can do this. this is the hard part. hang in there.
(ps...did you dip it in ketchup or mustard?? i love it in mustard)[/quote']

I ha e a question for someone who has been through the approval process. My surgeon's office sent in my info last week on 10/04. I got up the courage to call the insurance office this morning and they said they received all the info and that it was up for review. When I got home today there was a letter from the ins. Company saying that they were lacking info. It was dated 10/04. Is this normal? Do u think they are lacking the info like the letter says or is this a formality? Or should I trust the ins. Rep I talked to this morning? Help! I am on pins and needles. I want this so bad!It may have crossed from the time u called and the letter was mailed out. I would call back tomorrow and tell them u received the letter. Stay in too of them, I didn't have a problem but I hear insurance companies can slack when they want to.

Shhhhh you'll be fine. One potato wedge shouldn't be a problem. It's just frustrating. I've come this far with no problems had people eat my favorite food right in front of me and then boom!
-
So tonight while fixing my 5 and 3 year olds plate, without even thinking I reached down and ate a potato wedge!!! I'm on day 7 of my pre op diet and having surgery on Friday!! Anyone know how this will affect me? :'(

I wouldn't worry about that I only lost 7lbs and I was on the liquid diet for 3 weeks before surgery! My doctor said my body was in shock and was hanging in to the fat in other words it was in starvation mode! I'm my case I thought I was going to lose the weight very quickly but no I'm not that lucky! But hey any loss is better that no loss! Hand in there and good luck!! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
Thanks, yeah I was very excited to see what my loss would be and blah!!! Friday is so close I can taste it!!
-
Hi all! So I am finally getting the lap band on Friday (woohoo!) but I'm nervous about the gas pains. Is there any way to avoid them or at least minimize them as much as possible? I am a big baby when it comes to pain' date=' and I've heard the gas pains can be awful. Any suggestions are welcome!Thanks![/quote']
I'm being banded on Friday also and this is my main worry . A lot if people have said to get gas x strips or chewables!!

I use the BodyMedia Fit. it is a device worn as an armband which measures calories burnt' date=' steps and sleep. You can also record your calories eaten, although I do that via myfitnesspal.comI have found it very useful as it actually measures my calories burnt, rather than a general estimate. You can get it with a wristwatch type display to see your progress through the day but I just plug the armband into my computer for a quick check.[/quote']
Oh okay, seems cool. Ill have to look into it!

Don't ever compare your weight loss to anyone else. Just remember any loss is a success!Best wishes to you' date=' you can totally do this <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />[/quote']
You're right, I've always been bad about that. Thanks!
-
I've never heard of it, what exactly is it?
-
I get banded tomorrow and I have only lost 6 pounds. You got to remember the heavier you are the more you loose and it may come off a bit quicker.Good luck!!! Please let me know how it goes!
-
Give yourself time. How long have you been on the pre op diet?Since last Tuesday :/
-
I can't believe tomorrow is Tuesday and on Friday I will be joining the banded club!!!! The days have gotten easier to cope with, but I am a little concerned. I keep seeing that people loose anywhere from 10-25 lbs during their pre op diet and I have lost 2 lbs according to my scale :/. I have nothing but liquids and exercise as often as I can. Anyone else discouraged in the same way?!!

The Biotin I take is in the form of a tic-tac sized liquigel' date=' and is not at all difficult for me to swallow it.
Before you take any medications you need to swallow whole, make certain that your surgeon approves.[/quote']
Thanks!

I'm scheduled for October 12th!!! Any one else having loose BM???? :/

I definitely felt a little crazy by the second week of the Pre-op diet. I used sugar free carnation instant Breakfast drinks and blended them 100 ways- with tons if ice and every possible sugar free Syrup I could find. All I have to say is that if you are committed and determined to succeed at this surgery then you just suck it up and do it. That was my philosophy. I'm about 4 weeks out now and every day away from the surgery date is better. Is it easy? NO. Is it worth it? YES! Is living in an obese hell better?? NO WAY. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Hang in there.I have a quote on the wall above my treadmill that says "Sometimes we have to weather the storm if we want to see the rainbow!"
I think that's very apropos to this journey.
You are so right and that's why I keep going. There are times when I'm like I can't do it. And then I think do I really want to stay unhealthy and obese and possibly miss out on seeing my kids grow up and everything?!! I know I can do it, it's just nice to know I have a place now I can come to and get some reassurance
-
You should definitely have on hand Gas X strips or chewables and a good heating pad. Those helped me the most. I'm only 4 weeks out of surgery. Thanks!!!

Cont'd
What helps the most as far as the gas and being confirmable in bed Etc.??
