    Dumping syndrome any advice? ?

@@Joy889 @@ProjectMe I'm about 13 days post op and I have started to transition myself ton puréed foods even though I wasn't supposed to started until Monday. Many people can already have them a 7 days post op so I figured it couldn't kill me to start transitioning a couple days early. I've only done Greek yogurt with applesauce to thin it a bit, blended clam chowder, and egg whites with cheese. So far the Greek yogurt (which I loved pre op) has felt very thick going down. I'm so disappointed, but hopefully it will get better the more I have it. I would really hate to get rid of that from my diet. The egg whites I chewed very well and they felt okay going down. The soup too. I'll wait a bit before I try cream of wheat or oatmeal as my primary focus is Protein since I don't drink protein shakes. Yuck!

    African American vsgers!

Had my first post op appt today at just under 2 weeks post op. Details: ~16 lbs down since pre op appt two weeks ago. I'm very excited that in just 14 days I have lost 16 pounds. I Know these numbers will decrease as I add more food to my diet, but I'm honestly very excited and aim to see another 14 come off before I hit 6 weeks post op. ~Not doing good enough with my Protein (not shocking since I don't drink protein shakes). Dr. Lufti says I could sabotage this whole process by becoming protein deficient, so I'm going to try to do better with my efforts. I'm going to start my transition into puréed foods with greek yogurt in an attempt to get the protein ball rolling. ~Doing well with my water/liquid intake. I really only drink Gatorade and Water with lime/lemon. Not horrible, but I have improvements to make.

@@GenaW828 I can't do any vigorous exercise until 6 weeks post op. But I do want to get back in the gym and condition my body (it's been awhile). I think I'll be able to walk the treadmill and light weights at this point. What's your plan?

    African American vsgers!

During phase 1, week one, post op- I mostly ate broth, regular pudding, regular Gatorade, Water with lime or lemon, regular Popsicles, and luigi Italian ice. During phase 2, week 2 (full liquids)- I'm eating creamed Soup, 2% milk, soy milk, etc. and the same as week one. I try to aim for 30 g of Protein minimum. My goal is 40-60g. Things will be much better during week 3/4 (Purée foods). I can have Greek yogurt, fish, eggs, etc. So I should have no problem getting 50-60g of protein a day with REAL FOOD!!!!
  8. @@ELI.p.m I know it can be difficult to make any sort of lifestyle change. I for one will not talk down to you or shun you. We were/are all food addicts and that's what got us in this position in the first place. Each of us will have big and small battles with food as we continue on this journey. However, I think on a daily basis you have to remind yourself of why you went through all the trouble in the first place. To be healthier, to look better, and to feel better. None of those will be accomplished if you don't put forth a good faith effort. I'm not saying you can never have junk again, anything you can tolerate is okay occasionally. But, you should really focus on finding healthy foods that taste good and provide you with the nutrients you need to be holistically successful on this journey. Best of luck to you!

Hello All. Thanks for starting this thread. I just recently got sleeved on December 15th. I'm 10 days post op and things are getting better. After several days of gas and nausea, I decided to do a little research and discovered that the artificial sweeteners can increase the gas. So I stopped consuming artificial sweeteners (crystal light, sugar free Popsicle, sugar free everything). I never thought fake sugar was good for you anyway, I'm more of a naturalista though. Anyway, I've felt so much better since I stopped. Also, I am adamantly against Protein shakes. I can even smell them without getting nauseous. So my protein intake has been low. Hopefully, that will change once I'm able to eat fish and yogurt in a few days. I'm holding out until then. I have my first post op appointment tomorrow, so I will see how much I've actually lost then. My home scale is a bit off. But I estimate around 16 lbs since surgery. I have been reading some of the stories about insurance reqs and approvals. I pray that each of you get approved and are able to have your surgery. Although, I almost regretted it the first two days after, it was the best decision I've made for my health and longevity. Peace and Blessings to all that are on this journey to a healthier life!

@@fuzzyangelbear I vomited horribly as soon as I got to my room. It hurtled so bad. I felt intense nausea and heaves for the first 7-8 days post op and even vomited twice at home. It's taken a while but I'm finally starting to feel normal again. Guess this procedure just has different after effects for everyone.
  13. I am 8 days post op and in Stage 2 of my post diet and I am not nearly getting enough Protein. It seems the only way to get a substantial amount of protein is through protein drinks/shakes. But truthfully, I cannot stomach them. I had to force them down when I was pre op and I can't stand to even smell them post op. I know I need to get my protein in, but I just absolutely, positively cannot do Protein drinks. Any suggestions? So far my diet consists of Water, Gatorade, luigis Italian ice, gummy Vitamins, and strained Soup. FYI- I am one of those fresh fruit, fresh veggies, organic foods mostly type of people. So I'm discovering that I'm extremely picky. Go figure!
  14. @@BLERDgirl I will begin eating Greek yogurt again on Monday in Stage 3. Stage 3 has some actual foods in it that have good Protein, so I should be much better. Just hoping I can hold out on my 10-15g per day until then. Needless to say, Monday can't come soon enough.

    Spasms

@@docbree I eat regular jello and pudding. I mean it's not like we can a lot of anything, so it's good in moderation. I may eat a whole 500 calories on a very good day. Not nearly enough to ruin a diet.
  16. Thanks everyone! I will try the unflavored Protein and the premixed. I know the protein is important that's why I posted. But I've thrown up twice since being home and I don't want the nausea causing more heaves and vomiting. I'll update after trying the suggestions.

    Spasms

@@docbree I had the same pains no matter what I drank. Warm liquids were better but still caused pained. I read that artificial sweeteners could be inducing the gas, so I stopped drinking the crystal light, sugar free Popsicles, sugar free Jello, etc. for the last few days and the spasms have virtually disappeared except when I drink too much too fast. Now I only drink Gatorade, Water w/lemon, and watered down juice. I fell 100 times better. Lol. T

    Cream of Wheat nightmare! Help!

@@GenaW828 I gave up Protein shakes after the pre op diet. I just can't stomach them anymore. I'm a fresh fruits and veggies type of girl and the Protein Shakes taste so artificial they make me nauseous. I just bought some grits, oatmeal, and cream of wheat to prepare for Step 3 of the post op diet. They are all instant so I'm hoping they won't hit me so hard, but I'll make them very soupy just in case.
