    African American vsgers!

Try adding lemon or lime to your water. If I don't have fresh I use the concentrated juice. I'm taking Vitafusions women's and Calcium with d3. I also take the b12 5000mcg once every other day.
  2. @@JerseyJules Im 26 days post op (3 & 1/2weeks). Since I began purée foods 2 weeks ago I've had no problems with my Protein and I do not drink Protein shakes. I mostly eat fish, eggs, yogurt, and poultry. I eat every 2-3 hours and I get around 60-80g of protein a day which what my NUT wanted. So things are going much better.

    Dec. 15th anyone?

@@carolvalen I've learned sometimes the first time I try something, it may not sit well, but if I try it again it may be okay. It's like reintroducing yourself to foods, almost like a baby. Your reaction will vary.

@@rfriend82 I feel that comment was extremely inconsiderate and not a portrayal of a real friend. If my friend would've said that to me, I would probably have to put a little distance between us. You need nothing but positivity in your life at this time. anyone who does not respect that should be loved from a distance!
  5. I woke up in hell. I could hardly breathe, my body hurt and I felt extreme nausea. I immediately needed to lay on my side in order to get any relief. When I got up to my room I immediately vomited violently. It was brownish looking so I'm not sure if it was blood or whatever. After that I began to feel better. They had a portable toilet for me to use, but I just walked to the bathroom because I didn't want to use that thing. My most pain was turning, getting up, etc. it took a few weeks for me not to have tenderness around my bigger incisions. Nausea and gas were the major issues after I returned home. I gave up on Protein shakes and artificial sweeteners and that pretty much eliminated that issue for me. Every experience is different, so just hope for the best and prepare for the worst. That's my best advice.

    Change in Urine Color

@@mns112182 This is normally a sign of dehydration. I would recommend you getting some gatorade or Powerade to to help re-hydrate your body quickly.
  8. I'm very perplexed about how I can be gaining weight. I eat 90% Protein with some carbs (yogurt, watered down gatorade, etc). I consume less than 900 calories a day right now. I can only eat about 3-4 bites of anything I do eat 3-4 times a day. How can I be gaining weight????? This is depressing! I've gained about 3 lbs in the last week. I know it's not much, but the scale should be going in the opposite direction.
  9. @@emp409 My doctor told me that people with BMIs over 40 should not even get the Band. He said the sleeve is very effective with minimal complications. My BMI was over 60 when I did my consult. The goal of all these procedures is to NEVER eat like that person ever again. It is a change to your eating and lifestyle habits. While you will be able to enjoy food, you will be eating substantially less than what you are used to. I am not familiar with the SIPS procedure. Sounds interestingly complex. lol
  10. @@babelfish5 Only a 20-30 minutes of cardio every other day. I do plan to increase that this week. I had a back injury a couple months prior to surgery and since I can't take any anti-inflammatory meds, I have to be careful not to agitate my injury or I'm really in big trouble. @@BLERDgirl Yes I fully plan to stay away from the scale for a couple weeks!

    Sleeve Recovery Time

I was off for three weeks (thank God for Christmas break). I came back to work yesterday and although I was a bit tired driving home, I made it through a busy day fairly well.
  12. @@Elode I drink at a minimum 6-8 cups of Water a day. My yogurt is regular flavored greek yogurt, so I know it has sugar and fat in it (but it's like 4oz a day). My bowels are very regular (1-2 per day). Which is actually quite low for me since pre-op I was like 3-4 times per day. @@Babbs I will take your advice and stay off the scale. I almost teared up when I saw that gain. Lol. I'm going to save myself the anxiety and put it away for a few weeks. Lol

Chicago - Pre Op - Need a Mentor ASAP

I do understand your pain. I got approved for surgery in August and after a series of events I wasn't able to have it until December 15th. I too suffer from an auto-immune disease and chronic inflammation. My original date was cancelled due to my WBC being too high (they thought I could have cancer or something). I had to go to an oncologist to get cleared. So then my date got rescheduled to November 26. They cancelled that because the surgeon would be leaving out of town. Then, I finally got scheduled for December 16th. When the program coordinator called me to tell be they had to change my date again, I thought I would say all types of words to her. Luckily, they moved it one day sooner. I say all that to say, I know it seems like a long wait, but you really do want to follow the advice of medical professionals to make sure you are as stable as possible before undergoing this type of life-changing surgery. I went through a series of emotions my first two weeks post-op (including crying spells, self-doubt, guilt, etc). To be physically, mentally, and emotionally stable are very important as you have got to be focused on your weight loss goals to be successful. I know it is hard, but those 3 months will fly by and you will be on your way to a lifelong journey to a happy and healthy new life. I'm here if you need me. Inbox me!!!
  14. I'm about 22 days post op and supposed to be in Stage 3 (pureed foods). But, I find I can eat soft foods (so pretty much whatever I want) and still be okay as long as I chew VERY WELL, no chunks. The only time I have issues is when I eat too fast and overeat on accident. So I try to pace myself to gauge my fullness. That has been the biggest lesson learned. Most things sit okay with me, except fatty and really sugary stuff which I don't need anyway.
  15. @@Annie77 3 weeks of clears sounds a bit off to me. Typically it's 2-7 days of clear then on to full liquids for 1-2 weeks. Then purée for another 1-2 weeks. Then soft, then regular. But to do clear for 3 whole weeks sounds obsurd and then full liquids for a whole month. Wow!

    Bandages for how long?

@@Tauruslady5 I did not have a drain site. I had five incisions all closed with steristrips and then bandages. I changed the bandages for about 2 days and then I just uncovered them. The steristrips started to peel after about 8-9 days. Then I took them off in the shower. I want to start scar cream soon. I still have some light pain to the touch around my belly area, but that's about it.

    Any December Sleevers

I'm 18 days post op and in phase 3-the purée diet. I've had trouble with anything that is too fatty or too sugary. Also, I've had to mix my Greek yogurt with applesauce to thin it out a bit. I currently have a dull pain in my esophagus and I'm thinking it could be gas but I'm not sure. I tried eating and ended up vomiting violently (red eyes and face) tonight. I'm not sure what's going on, but if I am not able to get food down or shake this discomfort in my chest I will call my doctor.

    still feeling bloated

    Dumping syndrome any advice? ?

@@ProjectMe I'm also technically in week 2- full liquids. But, I just don't get enough Protein so I had to incorporate some more protein substances in my diet. I technically start phase 3- purée diet on Monday. I also read that the cream of wheat was heavy on the sleeve, so when you do try it, just make it really soupy. This process really does require phasing foods in slowly.

    Suggestion for Dehydration

@@Shannon Piper I'm 13 days post op and I have been drinking diluted Gatorade since about 3 days post op. My sleeve does respond well to artificial sweeteners and I needed more than water (which is my primary) to stay feeling hydrated. I don't do g2 because of the artificial, I just do plain Gatorade (2/3) with water (1/3).
