Did I miss something?

Good For you for having and endo at your 1 yr mark, so many bandsters do not have this test and think all is fine with their bands since they have no symptoms. I had an endo and was eroded and had zero symptoms. I hope your results are good ones, I would like ot think that if the results were bad your Dr. wouldtell you right away..so to me NO news is good news. Keep us posted

Who is your Doctor? There is noy way my Dr. would allow me to not be able to eat solids. You are to tight. Period! The band was designed to stillbe able to eat solids when filled properly. I am suprised your doctor would tell you not to worry, if in a few days after follwing his instructions there is no change in your restriction you need ot have that .25 you did not want in the first place removed. Be wise, too tight of a band can result in amny bad things. Your health and lomngevity of the band is what is mot important, without your band weight loss wo'nt matter. This is not a race,,it is a journey....

About Camphell's 98% fat free soups
La_madam replied to melipooh9's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
liquid calories after the post op phase are wasted calories and go right through the band they give NO restriction. I stayed clear of any liquid calories. Most doctors wil ltell you to not drink liquid calories and stay away from soft foods that also go through the band to quickly. -
Bands eroded, slipped or still successful bands?
La_madam replied to PamRN's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
How many of you who have been banded for over a year with NO complications have had an endoscopy to acutally make 100% sure your bands are OK. Had I not had an endo I would of never known my bandwas erodod. I had zero symptoms I was erodoed so just because there are no complications you feel or see..an endo is the only true test to make sure your band is not eorded. Many of us here who eroded had no problems or symptoms, or complications. Be wise get an endo on a yearly basis. -

what to eat when carbs are out?
La_madam replied to cher3150's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you can not eat hard proteins then you are too tight. Consider having a tad of fill removed. With the band in place you shouldalways be able to eat your hard proteins. maybe got from the 7.5 to 7 and you wil lstill have good retriction but beable to eat solids and still loseweight. Having just a little removed can make a big difference. We bandsters were told to eat our 60 grams of prtoein a day, if you are not doing that, you will lose lean muscle mass which will make you flabby. Not to mention only eating carbs will slow down the weight loss eventually. Carbs crave more carbs it is a proven fact. Proten curbs the hunger and helps burn the fat. Carbs are ok but protein first, and there is other ways of getting your carbs in then with pasta, many frutis and veggies have carbs. -
You are swollen. You need ot do liquids for 24-48 hours. Anytime you have a slime or PB you need to rest your esophagusand stoma and do liquids for 24-48 hours or you will start a vicious cycle of eatingthen PBing. I know thisfirst hand. I had a horrible PB and did not listen to my doctors instructions, continued to eat the next day, I eventually had the worst case of esophagits ever. It was very painful. I had done so much damage I had to do liquids for 2 weeks.

After 2nd fill, can't keep food down
La_madam replied to SarahinTyler's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
you are too tight. You need to have a little removed .2cc's can make a huge difference . PBing that often can result in slipage and other complications such as esophagitis. I know it happened to me. The band was designed to be able to eat solids. If you can not eat solid protiens without throwing up have a little removed. Stop making yourself thorw up, not good for the band! -
I feel like I can eat anything and there is no band!
La_madam replied to Betsyjane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is a "small majority" that have restriction without being filled. But NOT everyone is that fortunate. Iam suprised your Dr. did not tell you that. -
Sorry to hear of your ordeal.. But, is being this tight worth all of this? I am anxious to hear what Dr C has to say of this. I know from my own experience that if I was this tight my Dr. would of definately had me in for a slight unfill so I could eat and drink. Be careful, do not jeopardize the longevity of your band. being too tight is not good for you or your band. Hope you feel better soon.

I feel like I can eat anything and there is no band!
La_madam replied to Betsyjane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have NO fill yet, thats why. Relax! The band works when it is filled. Once you get your fills things will change but right now you need to practice patience and not focus on losing weight during this 6 week pre fill stage. Focus on healing. You will gain and lose a few pounds during this phase. Trust me we all did. -
I started to watch it but fell asleep

Count me in. For those of us who are in the excahnge can I ask for each of us to post 3 things we might enjoy or collect? So we all have an idea of what to send or secre pal.

Have any of you tried the Isopure/Isopro?
La_madam replied to Doriana's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
http://www.isopureoutlet.com/ here is a place to order it online. Also many GNC stores carry it. There is an andult liquid Tylenol. I found it at Wal-mart andat Savon Drugs. Flinstones chewables or Centrum chewables were my Vitamins of choice. -
Before being banded I had huge weight gaain on Paxil. I did every thing right. One thing my doctortold me is the anti depressants even though you are doing everything right, theses drugs slow down your metabolic rate to almost zero hence why the weight gain and no weight loss

La_madam replied to Something4Me's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dr. Quebbaman in Laguna Beach is wonderful and highly experienced. He was not my band doctor but was trained by my band doctor. I had a friend who had surgery withhim and is very happy withhim and his staff. he works out of South Coast Medical and also has an office in Hungtington beach. You can also email Dan Mills atInamed Dan.Mills@inamed.com he will send you a list of Inamed certified surgeons in your area. Good Luck -

La_madam replied to fitzgerald's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

HELP! Need Endoscopy Information
La_madam replied to Malice X Girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Endoiscopy is a very fast procedure. you will most likely be lightly sedated. It is very quick and painless. It should not interfere with your Thanksgiving, even ifthey found out something was wrong they would notdo anything about it that day Iam sure. I had my endo and found out I was eroded and it was not until thefollowing week I had my band removed. -
you were banded 12 days ago? 6 lbs is good for 12 days. It is normal not to lose during the pre fill stage. Did your Dr. not tell you this? Any weight lost before your fills is a bonus, the first 6 weeks should be focused on healing not weight loss! The band was designed to be filled to work it's best, once you get your fills the weight loss will happen. One last piece of advice, DO NOT compare yourself to toher bandsters. It will drvie you crazy. We all are different with different bodies, metabolisms and such. Hang in there :peep:

How many fills to feel restriction?
La_madam replied to hula girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Depends on your Doctor and how agressive he is with fills. Some US docs are less agressive then the MX docs and it also depends on each individual. What may give me restirction, may not give you restriction. -
Steps to avoid slippage or erosion
La_madam replied to icuwalsh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well as far as erosion goes, there is no helpful hint. I eroded a year ago and for the 18 months I had my band I was the perfect bandster. I was lucky though to have great success with my bandbefore I lost it and even luckier now since I have not gained my weight back i nthe last year. As for slippage, try not to PB if you PB often ( more then 2x's a week) you do risk slippage from what my doctor told me.
